The Book of Karate Kid
The Book of Karate Kid C3G DC SUPER SECRET EXCLUSIVE 38 HEROES OF THE 31ST CENTURY Comic PDF Mini PDF The figure used for this unit is a Heroclix figure from the Crisis set. Its model number and name are #024 / Karate Kid. _________________________________________________________________ Character Bio - Val Armorr was the son of one of Japan's greatest crime lords, Kirau Nezumi, also known as Black Dragon. When he was born, his mother, the American secret agent Valentina Armorr, tried to hide him from his father, but she failed and was killed for her affront. Japan's greatest hero Sensei Toshiaki (the White Crane) eventually killed Black Dragon for his crimes and adopted the infant Val. He raised Val as if he were his own son, and trained him in all manner of the martial arts. Master of every martial art in the 31st century, Val became the youngest warrior ever to earn the title Samurai, and he went to work for his local shogun. However, after trying his best and failing to please his supervisor, he quit and searched the galaxy for new forms of battle to master. When Val returned to Earth, he found that the Legion of Super-Heroes was searching for new recruits to battle the Khunds. He applied, and, although he had no superhuman powers, was accepted when he challenged Superboy to single combat and so impressed the Boy of Steel that Superboy vouched for his admission to the Legion. _________________________________________________________________ -Rulings and Clarifications-

SECRET IDENTITY = VAL ARMORR SPECIES = HUMAN UNIQUENESS = UNIQUE HERO CLASS = LEGIONNAIRE PERSONALITY = FEARLESS SIZE/HEIGHT = MEDIUM 5 LIFE = 4 MOVE = 6 RANGE = 1 ATTACK = 3 DEFENSE = 4 POINTS = 230 SUPER KARATE While attacking with his normal attack, Karate Kid has the Super Strength special power and for each skull you roll with his normal attack, the defending figure must subtract 1 from its Defense number. MASTER MARTIAL ARTIST When attacking an opponent's adjacent figure with a normal attack, add one automatic skull to whatever is rolled. When defending against a normal attack from an adjacent figure, add one automatic shield to whatever is rolled, and all excess shields count as unblockable hits on the attacking figure. MENTAL SHIELD An opponent may never take temporary or permanent control of Karate Kid. C3G INITIAL PLAYTEST FEEDBACK FORM
NAME OF THE TEST UNIT (KARATE KID) - THEME TEST/ Check to see if there are any powers or stats on the test unit card that does not accurately reflect the theme or likeness of what the character would and could do. Also consider destructible objects, and whether or not this characters powers should affect them. PASS - MIRROR TEST/ Check to see if the unit were played against itself, if there would be any loops that would upset the balance of the Game. PASS - BONDING TEST/ Compare the unit card with all possible currently existing Bonding abilities to make sure there are no continual Bonding possibilities that do not stop appropriately or do not stop at all. This is to prevent loops in Bonding. PASS - SYNERGIES TEST/ Compare the unit card with all possible currently existing synergies to make sure there are no factors that could break the game by making any unit to powerful or too weak. PASS - POWER CHECK/ Consider the test unit and all existing units and all glyphs to compare to and check for any powers that could be over amplified and break the game. Each power must define when it takes place, who or what it affects, and What are the stipulations on the power if there are any. PASS - FUN TEST/ Consider whether or not the design was fun to play. PASS - FUN COMPETITIVE TEST/ Consider whether or not the design was fun to play against. PASS - DRAFTING TEST/ Consider whether or not this design is worth drafting. PASS - USAGE TEST/ Consider whether or not all of the powers on this card were used or at least usable. PASS - STRATEGY TEST/ Consider whether or not the design offers any real strategy or interesting tactics to the overall game. PASS Heavy Hitter or Mid-Level Hero Test - Does it pass, Yes or No? Yes - What should be the unit's point value? 230 - Give a brief overview. He fit right in at 230, feeling the most even with Shang-Chi, and forcing Venom to get some hot rolls to beat him.

Cosmic Boy died too soon and I was too slow bringing up Lightning Lad to kill off Science Police. This one was close anyway. Cosmic Boy rolled better for Magnetic Throw Defense here (including 2 wounds on Icicle) and Lightning Lad’s nasty attack combined with more turns and poor OM management by the opponent’s won this one easily for the LEGION. Map: Custom Units: Karate Kid (230), Cosmic Boy (260), Superboy (330), Lightning Lad (180) (1,000) vs. Mongul (340), Booster Gold (290), Icicle (150), Hush (220) (1,000)

So just to clarify - he can cause Knockback on his attack, but then is affected by powers like Avalanche's Earthquake SA.

Might be odd, but this is the Legionnaire (other than Star Man maybe) that I've been looking forward to the most!
Is it weird for him not to have Martial Arts Master, since he's on par with or tougher than anyone else who's gotten it so far? C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Yeah that was my first thought regarding him not having Martial Arts Master, but I figured A3n wanted a knew special karate type power for him.
