Death Chasers x4 ---> 220 Ogre Warhulk x1 ---> 370 Raelin 1.0 ---> 450 Nerak ---> 500 I just couldn't compete with the board advantage that Battle Rush gives. The Death Chasers grabbed the glyphs easy, and Nerak and Raelin pumped their defense to an impossible-to-crack 6 dice. That, combined with the Warhulk crushed me to tiny, embarrassed bits. I was playing Airborne + Horned Skull Brutes x2 + Warforged soldiers x3 (which is a nice combo). Ended up going 3-2 that night, with my only losses being against the Death Chasers army. |

Re: The Book of Death Chasers of Thesk
I just had a fantastic time with these guys! We're playing a huge board (70+ hexes across) and this time it was 5 people. 7 epic hours of HS. I brought:
4 x DCoT 220 Nerak 50 MBS 50 OP 100 MW 50 Guilty 30, 500 Ruled the day! Moving all the DCoT at the beginning gave me all the head start I needed for height, plus my army had obviously great cohesion. This left my opponents some pretty nasty choices about where to direct their attacks. Nerak's aura is sick, friendly in 4 clear sight spaces...sh*t is so cash . DCoT are perfect blockers with a nasty bite. OP handles the heavies and squads that get a little too adventurous. The Minions are terrifying against him though. MW are too legit to quit, and Guilty has just that little edge on range and attack that makes him oh so nasty at 30 (The extra life also doesn't hurt). I could have played MBS so much better, which only re-enforces his amazing value (and the strength of this build) since I still killed it. Any army can be beaten, but I'm curious (I'm still a total noob) what would you bring to the table against this? OG Gamer, Noob Scaper. |

Re: The Book of Death Chasers of Thesk
There's always a counter to most armies. Against this, Warforged would probably work well, to pull your Orcs off of height. Krav Maga would also be nice. They could pick off Guilty/MBS/MWs without suffering too much from the return fire...

Re: The Book of Death Chasers of Thesk
I faced a Warforged army at Louisville's February tournament and narrowly lost with my Death Chasers. It wasn't too much trouble penetrating their Resolve with 4+ attack (you should try to kill them with height even if they can switch if they live). And with defensive bonuses (I had both Nerak and Raelin, Chasers most often in one Aura or the other), DCs survived quite a few attacks as well. The real killer for me was Siege, who I got up to 3 wounds, but far too slowly.

Warforged, eh? I like the use of tactical switch! Thanks for the feedback, I'll make good use of it when my friends field that Death Chaser army against me.

Re: The Book of Death Chasers of Thesk
JSchild brought this army and won the "reverse" tournament I just ran this weekend:
Death Chasers x4= 220 Nerak= 270 Raelin= 350 Me-Burq-Sa= 400 Brunak= 510 The first three rounds, everyone played with the army they brought. The death chasers were 3-0. For the last two rounds, people played with their opponent's army-- the death chasers went 1-1. The guys using his army in the last two rounds weren't too familiar with them, which gave JSchild an edge. Both games were very close, so even the people unfamiliar with them did pretty well. This was an idea inspired by the Gencon main event this year. If you're going, I'd suggest you get used to playing with and against the death chasers! Very effective army! At full power that makes the death chasers three attacks of 4, defense 5 with a bonding option. I brought almost the same one (swap out Brunak for the Ogre Pulverizer + Isamu), but I didn't play because there was an even number of people. “Battle is a hard business, sister. Soft training will make for soft soldiers who will in turn become soft corpses.”

Re: The Book of Death Chasers of Thesk
Man I just realized you can't use taskmaster bonding with Braxas and Jotun. Man guess I know for next time. They are still a good offensive squad though. Just not as good as I thought they were. I'm really going to have to rethink my strategy with them. Thanks to you guys I won't have to think about it much.
