There are no restrictions. Have them jump off a cliff into a pool of lava if you like.

Re: C3G Question Dump / Advice Column: Ask your questions he
Really? Holy crap I've been getting robbed! Is there a rule book that says this, I would love to have something in hand when I challenge them about it next game?
“Have you ever hoped for something? And held out for it against all the odds? Until everything you did was ridiculous? "

Re: C3G Question Dump / Advice Column: Ask your questions he
The only thing you technically can't do is make them leave engagement. This isn't because of a rule directly having to do with taking their unit though. The rules that come into play are the fact that
A) When you take a unit under your control, you can't force it to leave engagement with your units because it counts as your unit, and you can't do leaving engagement on your own units and also B) the opponent CHOOSES whether or not to roll leaving engagement. So if you make him leave engagement with his own figure, he can just choose not to roll the leaving engagement dice. |

Re: C3G Question Dump / Advice Column: Ask your questions he
Here's my question: When exactly do you resolve lava damage? For example, take Storm's ability to move a bunch of units at once. Say there are 4 HYDRA all around one tile of lava. Can you move one unit into the lava, resolve the damage, then move the next into the lava, and so on unless they hit a 20? Or do you move them all to tiles and THEN resolve lava damage? So 2 couldn't go to the same lava tile.

Just like a multi-attack figure can resolve attacks before they declare the next one. I imagine it works the same for multi-move abilities. “Have you ever hoped for something? And held out for it against all the odds? Until everything you did was ridiculous? "

Come on Karat, it's not like this has ever affected you.

When things all happen at the same time, the player doing the things chooses what order they happen in. For example, which affected figure in an explosion attack gets attacked (has to roll defense dice) next.

Still doesn't quite answer the question as to whether or not, you can move one figure onto lava, and then another, and so on with Storm's Gale Force Winds.

Re: C3G Question Dump / Advice Column: Ask your questions he
Well the rule for Molten Lava says: "When a figure moves onto a molten lava space, you must roll for molten lava damage"
So I would say that after each figure is places on the lava tile, you would roll to see if they survive. Granted Storm's power is simultaneous, but there are others that will be able to do this as well in a simultaneous manner. Regardless of that, you are still placing/moving the figures one at a time and should resolve such effects like this after each figure is placed based on the "When a figure moves onto a molten lava space, you must roll for molten lava damage" wording. If you decide to march 4 HYDRA Agents into lava, you don't wait until the 4th one is moved before resolving the lava damage. You do it after each figure lands on it. So you say Storm's power is simultaneous and they all are placed at the same time? If a tornado passes through a group of 4 people standing next to each other in a field, are they going to all land at the same time after they are picked up and thrown? I highly doubt it. Yeah this would suck if for example someone decides to use Magma to place a single lava tile and Storm throws 4 HYDRA Agents into that lava tile one at a time. That's just a bad match-up. Next time bring Intangible figures that can't be thrown by non-adjacent figures, Lava Resistant figures, Blob who can't be thrown or figures that can kill Magma real quick. Also, the dangerous thing for people that bring Magma and throwers into a game, the opponent can bring a thrower as well and throw your pricey figures into Magma's Lava as well. Re: C3G Question Dump / Advice Column: Ask your questions he
Actually Storm could still throw Intangible units. Nowhere in Gale Force does it say "clear sight", thus Intangibility won't stop it from working.
But Lava Resistant would be a good defense. Though in a tourney setting with blind teams, bringing a Lava Resistant team would be futile. However, in a draft style it's not so hard to counter. Unless they draft Magma last, that could be annoying. |
