Re: The Book of Brainiac 13 - Design Phase
Um, he's a time traveler, rarely actually operating in his own time and place - what's the problem with him coexisting with the other Brainiac?
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of Brainiac 13 - Design Phase
Stab at a quick edit for clarity in the wording:
CONTINGENCY PROGRAM 13 If Brainiac would receive enough wounds to be destroyed, before removing him from the battlefield you must roll the 20-sided die. Before rolling, you may choose an Android or Cyborg you control and add 6 to the roll. If you roll 13 or higher, Brainiac ignores any wounds he would have received. If you chose an Android or Cyborg, destroy it, immediately place Brainiac 13 on the space previously occupied by the chosen figure, and remove all Wound Markers from Brainiac 13’s card. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of Brainiac 13 - Design Phase
C3G INITIAL PLAYTEST FEEDBACK FORM
NAME OF THE TEST UNIT (BRAINIAC 13) - THEME TEST/ Check to see if there are any powers or stats on the test unit card that does not accurately reflect the theme or likeness of what the character would and could do. Also consider destructible objects, and whether or not this characters powers should affect them. PASS - MIRROR TEST/ Check to see if the unit were played against itself, if there would be any loops that would upset the balance of the Game. PASS - BONDING TEST/ Compare the unit card with all possible currently existing Bonding abilities to make sure there are no continual Bonding possibilities that do not stop appropriately or do not stop at all. This is to prevent loops in Bonding. PASS - SYNERGIES TEST/ Compare the unit card with all possible currently existing synergies to make sure there are no factors that could break the game by making any unit to powerful or too weak. PASS - POWER CHECK/ Consider the test unit and all existing units and all glyphs to compare to and check for any powers that could be over amplified and break the game. Each power must define when it takes place, who or what it affects, and What are the stipulations on the power if there are any. PASS - FUN TEST/ Consider whether or not the design was fun to play. PASS - FUN COMPETITIVE TEST/ Consider whether or not the design was fun to play against. PASS - DRAFTING TEST/ Consider whether or not this design is worth drafting. PASS - USAGE TEST/ Consider whether or not all of the powers on this card were used or at least usable. PASS - STRATEGY TEST/ Consider whether or not the design offers any real strategy or interesting tactics to the overall game. PASS Heavy Hitter or Mid-Level Hero Test - Does it pass, Yes or No? Yes. - What should be the unit's point value? 700-750. - Give a brief overview. Brainiac 13 is clearly inferior to his predecessor one-on-one. In Heavy Hitters, Artificial Intelligence 13 didn’t come into play at all, but the map did favor Brainaic 13 in many of these matches, to the point where I’ll probably go 700 into the next tests.
Spoiler Alert!
_____________________________________________________________ Squad Test - Does it pass, Yes or No? Yes. - What should be the unit's point value? 660-700? - Give a brief overview. Brainiac did better than it looked like here, but also had a map advantage. Still, he only went up against 640 points and did not completely dominate. Map: Custom Units: Brainiac 13 vs. Blood Demons x4 (640)
Spoiler Alert!
_____________________________________________________________ Squad Test - Does it pass, Yes or No? Yes. - What should be the unit's point value? 750-800 - Give a brief overview. The map was a definite advantage here, but Brainiac owned the superior numbers all the same. Map: Custom Units: Brainiac 13 vs. Thunderers of Qward x5 (700)
Spoiler Alert!
_____________________________________________________________ Army Test - Does it pass, Yes or No? Yes. - What should be the unit's point value? 750 feels perfect. - Give a brief overview. This was an epic battle! The Cyborg team was definitely built for taking down Kryptonians, but Zod and Non helped keep things close with big attacks down the stretch. Better rolls for auto wounds for the Infiltrators and this could have gone the other way. Map: Custom Units: Brainiac 13 (750), Lady Deathstrike (240), Metallo (290), Cyborg (200), Doombot (95) (1575) vs. General Zod (380), Non (330), Ursa (230), Kryptonian Infiltrator x4 (640) (1580)
Spoiler Alert!
_____________________________________________________________ Army Test - Does it pass, Yes or No? Yes - What should be the unit's point value? 750 - Give a brief overview. 750 feels spot on here. It was nice to use all of Brainiac 13’s powers here! Map: Custom Units: Brainiac 13 (750) vs. Superman (II) (450) and Red Tornado (300) (750)
Spoiler Alert!

Re: The Book of Brainiac 13 - Design Phase
Am I wrong in thinking that Margloth is wrong about the stealing 1 common hero you steal all of them? I'm pretty sure the using the one card for the commons is just a convenience thing & they don't all go where the card goes. I would think you would just get your own card for them if you stole 1. Right?
BTW Contingency Program 13 updated with Bats' rewording. Re: The Book of Brainiac 13 - Design Phase
We're breaking new ground with that. I think we could FAQ it and be OK.

Re: The Book of Brainiac 13 - Design Phase
I don't think either of us would really be "wrong". There's nothing that says you only play with one card, but many people do. In theory there's no reason you couldn't steal their single common hero, but as far as 'real world' Heroscape it could cause logistical problems.
But quozl's FAQ idea is sound, especially since (generally) Event Heroes are geared towards casual or scenario play above competitive or tournament play. |

Re: The Book of Brainiac 13 - Design Phase
Technically you're supposed to have a separate card for each Common figure you have, but since you can take a turn with any of them from any card, there's no reason to ever use more than one.

Re: The Book of Brainiac 13 - Design Phase
In practical terms, it means people will be printing 2 cards for each android common hero.

Re: The Book of Brainiac 13 - Design Phase
Heavy Hitters are in (that took a while! ). I like him at 700-800 so far, leaning towards 700 due to the map I'm using.

Re: The Book of Brainiac 13 - Design Phase
I'm pretty sure it's covered in the rule books when discussing Common Squads. I'm at work I can't look it up now.

That might be a little low, but we will see how he goes in the army tests.

Re: The Book of Brainiac 13 - Design Phase
Btw, it is an established Heroscape ruling that if you affect one common squad card, you affect them all for that common squad unless otherwise stated in the power. I remember hashing this all out and more or less getting this exact ruling from Rÿchean back when Griff and I were trying to let dok know that Uncommon Heroes could have stacking powers around a year or so ago.
