I have to admit, I am not quite sure what you mean here or how I would even accomplish the "direct the opponent's movement" part. Are you referring to adding a squad or two (maybe in place of Heirloom)?

A screen is usually (though not always) comprised of multiples of a common squad with high defense or defensive powers. They move out first and create a wall, engaging ranged figures and blocking incoming melee. Many of the best screens bond with heroes, giving you better OM efficiency (e.g. Blade Gruts + Grimnak) or have powers that let them work without order markers (e.g. Deathreavers and Marro Dividers). Some squads can function as their own screen (Mezzodemons and 10th Reg), and some heroes can step in for certain scenarios (Tandros Kreel and the Air Elemental, for example).
If you want to use Wyrmlings, which are really fun but fragile figures, you should pair them with a melee screen like the Knights of Weston (which can also give you some punch against tough heroes).
Wyrmling Rainbow x2
Knights of Weston x2
