Re: Rules Team HQ

1. C3G Rules Team needs to be able to have more serious nitty-gritty conversations about some of the wider mechanics of our game. Moving and Attacking "phases" seems to be a particular issue that keeps coming up, yeah. What exactly the heck "targeting" means could be helpful as well. The goal would be to come up with functional solutions to these problems, and then make sure those solutions are applied, to the best of our ability, to our catalog. 2. C3G Rules Team should help people understand how currently released C3G cards work. To that end, I think we should have a Rules Questions thread here, similar to what we have on Discord. People can post and ask questions, and while it's certainly not on the Rules Team to solely answer every single question, we should definitely have a hand in it. 3. Information needs to be collated somewhere. I think it's great to have discussions like I propose in points 1 and 2, and like have been happening so far in this thread, but I also feel like this whole project is a bit pointless if the information isn't collected somewhere. I think Rules Team needs to be able to provide some sort of resource for people to be able to look up info about previous rulings. I know one request I've heard multiple times from public members is a request for more in-thread FAQs, and I think we could make that happen. I'll collate an FAQ for the point that has been discussed so far, and we can toss it in the SP for the time being. |

Re: Rules Team HQ
Totally agree that we could use an organized approach here - will try to weigh in on that after work.

Re: Rules Team HQ
Thanks, guys. I'm up for anything that makes it work for folks.
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: Rules Team HQ
It is still after work on the 19th, so I'm killing it in terms of timeliness.
So, thoughts on action items here: instead of sorting things out onesy-twosy as people think to ask questions, we should make a list of our known bugbears, divvy up the work, and start just knockin em down. We're midway on the 'instead of attacking' stuff. I'd like to see similar dives on questions like which cards should be specifying normal movement (vs any movement) & which should be specifying player turns (I believe SW has some initial progress there that someone could pick up and run with). Meanwhile, with the 'instead of attacking' stuff, our goal should be to nail down what the intent is on everything in the '???' column where we don't know if it's meant to be a single attack or the whole phase. Then we can start nailing down a set of cards that need an update/exactly what those updates are. Meanmeanwhile, I think it would be worthwhile to take an inventory on our existing FAQs and just look for eyebrow-raisers. I don't have complete confidence that they all square with the rules, or that there aren't weird older C3G rulings we're unaware of tucked away in them. |

Re: Rules Team HQ
I can go through current FAQs and start sorting them based on what answers the same questions and try to flag where things are contradictory. I think that jives with my brain better than trying to spearhead any of the "normally" stuff.
But, yeah, I agree the three big ones are attack triggers, movement triggers, and turn triggers. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: Rules Team HQ
Making a list of issues we want hashed (And submissions of course) and knocking out the lists is probably the best way to handle it. None of this needs to be rushed, but we need to be organized and do one thing at a time, for sure.
Going through every single book to read FAQs seems not very efficient, or are you talking about other FAQs? |

We do have the old FAQ thread, but I don't think it's super up to date. |

Re: Rules Team HQ
It would be great to make sure there's a single thread with all the FAQs in it, that could be part of that project.

Re: Rules Team HQ
I suggest creating a Google Doc shared among you that you can copy and paste FAQs into.

Re: Rules Team HQ
Yeah, assembling FAQs into a Google Doc is going to be a project for me if I get some time coming up after exam week here.
