bonding

i know that it has not happened yet but could a hero bond with a squad

Ex: Bob the samurai uniqe hero

Abilties: counterstrike

samuria bonding
Before taking a turn with bob you may take a turn with any samuria squad you controll

Could the bonding ability someday work?

It could work, there are all sorts of custom units that have bonding with Squads.

Currently the only offical squad bonding is just Movement Bonding and its one squad with another.

What you are asking about is a "reverse" bonding ability. There are no Heroes with this sort of ability, however, if you want to customize one to do so, go for it. Officially, you never know if a hero may appear in a future wave with reverse bonding. It does have a twist to it. It would be more powerful than the standard bonding, since you would have the turn markers on the hero instead of the squad. Heroes can take more hits than a weak squad, thereby lowering the risk of a lost bond due to eliminated units. I hope that made sense, hehehehe....

I would say most likely not.

The reason I tend to believe that is currently the bonding goes one way Squad to Hero Bonding. Reversing it to Hero to Squad Bonding opens access to the Pandoras box of the Bonding Loop. This was discussed at length a couple years ago when the designers were in contact with us (on .net) and they assured us that there would never be a Bonding Loop due to a specific design. At the time they did not state what that design was, but I always assumed it was not having a Hero to Squad Bonding Ability.

Just because you're offended, it doesn't make you right.

If they are careful enough, they could still have reverse bonding without a loop. If a new hero has reverse bonding, just make sure it isn't a benificiary of bonding squads.

Well, it could prevent future units from getting the bonding. Let's say they make a samurai hero with samurai squad bonding. In order to prevent any wonky things happening, they cannot make any squad that can bond with the hero.

Do you mean chain bonding?

Because a bonding loop doesn't do anything.

Either way it could be viable if the hero bonded with a squad that doesn't have bonding. Problem solved.

No, chain implies that it goes from one to another. Loop it just goes back and forth. (Think Alastair with MacDirk Warrior Bonding). it would just go back and forth until they killed everything or got counterstruck to death.

Looking for a way to get casual players involved in Heroscape? Do your opponents lack the interest or knowledge to build/draft their own armies? If so, check out Project 500!

I know the difference between a chain and a loop. :P

If Alastair had MacDirk Warrior Bonding you would not get inifinite turns. You would still only get 2 one with the Alastair and one with the Macdirks, because of the wording on bonding, which "Before taking a turn with X take a turn with Y." So you get this....

Order Marker on the Macdirk Warriors assuming Alastair can bond with them.

Before taking a turn with Macdirk Warriors take a turn with Alastair, but before taking a turn with Alastair take a turn with Macdirk Warriors, but before taking a turn with Macdirk Warriors take a turn with Alastair, but before taking a turn with Alastair take a turn with Macdirk Warriors, but before taking a turn with Macdirk Warriors take a turn with Alastair, but before taking a turn with Alastair take a turn with Macdirk Warriors, but before taking a turn with Macdirk Warriors take a turn with Alastair, but before taking a turn with Alastair take a turn with Macdirk Warriors, but before taking a turn with Macdirk Warriors take a turn with Alastair. So you would accomplish nothing.

You have to stop the loop to do anything. So you have to Take a turn with Alastair, which would negate his bonding with the Warriors or you would have to Bond with the Warriors and take turn with them and negate their bonding. Either Way you would still only get 1 turn with each card.

A chain could be bad, a loop is not.

If bonding were "After taking a turn with X take a turn with Y" and 2 things bonded with each other, you could get infinte turns.

my head hurts!
But if the samurai hero could bond to any SAMURAI squad and no samurai squads ever had bonding than it would work.
I asked this question because thereare squads that are out with no hero and wil propaply never get another squad. If onday the got a hero it would be cool if the hero and squad could still bond.
