Re: C3G Doctor Who Workshop
You’ve heard of Superman and Flash racing, now get ready for Rose and Flash racing.
I think it could be fine, but I’m really not seeing “letting people run around” as the main aspect of our 9th Doctor design. I think he’s the kind of Doctor where his card can have a handful of powers that each do a different thing. Sonic Screwdriver, some sort of anger/PTSD power, and a protective power seems like a solid start. |

Re: C3G Doctor Who Workshop
For sure. I think that's fine. Honestly not a version of the Doctor I find terribly exciting (with apologies to Scapers' own NinthDoc).
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Tech Savant keeps that genius vibe from Jury-Rigging Genius, but simplified. Jack will probably have a Glyph that can have a D20 effect, so there can be some loose synergy there. We can replace Strong Personality with a sort of running power, but I just feel like SP vibes a bit better with the rest of the write-up. He can engage an opponent on his turn then give the companion a chance to escape on their bonding turn. LotTL is a (hopefully) more refined take on Time War Rage. I think it still captures that damaged semi-psycho feel, but doing defense subtraction instead of attack addition feels a bit more Doctory and less like he’s getting superstrength or something. Very open to seeing what anybody else has too. Always a bit worried that my head is getting stuck too far up my own butt with these designs. Re: C3G Doctor Who Workshop
I like it. Good call on defensive subtraction instead of attack boost. That has a much better feel to it.

Re: C3G Doctor Who Workshop
A lot closer, but still doesn't quite hit the spot.

Re: C3G Doctor Who Workshop
While that percolates, here's what I had cooking beforehand...
Quote:
The reason I was having trouble with Davros is that I feel like he doesn't really fit into a stereotypical Heroscape role. He's heavily tied to the Daleks, but he's not really their leader. After creating the Daleks, he just spends most of his time making crazy schemes and devices that he lets them use. Because of that, direct Dalek synergy felt pretty weird. Doomsday Weapon helps with that. It's pretty vague, and could be any number of crazy science devices Davros has made. The point is, it's a weapon that can deal massive damage but doesn't really hurt Daleks nearly as bad as anyone else. Someone can run in and engage him to stop him from blasting away, but... Debate punishes them for that. It's a less powerful version of Manipulate or Negotiate, but can be used multiple times as a trade-off. Might take some work to get it feeling exactly right, but I think the idea of a moral debate is important to the character; he's just as much the Doctor's philosophical opponent as he is a physical one. Life Support System is just meant to keep him around a little bit longer. It'll probably be pretty useless in the long run, but he's not meant to be a character that can stand his own in physical combat. He's just extremely resilient, almost slasher-esque in how many times he's escaped death. You can't keep a good mad scientist down, you know? Last edited by MrNobody; August 29th, 2022 at 08:19 AM. |

Re: C3G Doctor Who Workshop
I dig how with Debate he has a 50/50 chance of winning or losing the debate. You can feel the struggle!

Re: C3G Doctor Who Workshop
Cool. If you want him to.stick around, just add Sue.
Judge Fear could be a nice ally, negating a shield if you manage to roll one. |

Re: C3G Doctor Who Workshop
My reasoning for not is that his thematic opponent can negate Cyborgs. Since Davros’ abilities are mainly just him being smart, I don’t think the Doctor should be able to wave the Sonic around and disable him.
