Lightbulb Migol's Tomb

I played Migol's Tomb - To Take Barrenspur scenario from the original master set, but added the Aquilla's Alliance characters along with Krug.

Sujoah's movement is just enough to go from the edge of the start zone to the summons glyph on the top. I summoned Zetacron. This was devastating to my opponent. Zetacron could roll 4 attack dice against my opponent's characters, most of which were 10 levels below.

Next round I flew Raelin up there, so now Zetacron could roll 8 defense dice against attacks from the ground. My opponent was forced to flee to the cave beneath, where my Zettian Guards could snipe at them from my start zone (Zetacron was standing on the +4Range glyph).

The next game, my opponent copied my idea and started blasting my troops right off the bat. So I sent Sgt Drake into the drink. The next phase he used his grapple gun to get up to Zetacron. (It would have worked beautifully, had I not rolled so terribly).

The introduction of a flying character with 8 movement completely changes Migol's Tomb. Toss in Zetacron, and it is a dominating situation.

Extreme height only kicks in when the attacking figure is 10 levels higher than the height of the defending figure. You cannot get extreme height on any figure on Migol's Tomb so Zetacron should never have pitched 4 dice unless you had a glyph or Finn spirit or Taelord or something.

A must read for all 'Scapers!

What R˙chean said was the first thing I thought when reading this. Beaten to it.

But yea, old maps are old. It was perfectly fine when back when there was only the master set.

Re: Migol's Tomb

I disagree. The AE could always do that (minus the incorrect assignment of extreme height).

Re: Migol's Tomb

That's one of my favorite maps. I don't think new characters change how it's played. The AE, Drake and Rae are RotV characters and always were key to winning that scenario.

Not one step backwards!

Re: Migol's Tomb

I thought that the top level is Level 11. If a character is on Level 1, that's a difference of exactly 10 levels right? Does the extreme height kick in at that point, or would it have to be one more level? What about if a character is in the water, wouldn't that count as Level 0?

If I did screw up, the good news is my opponent did too on his turn so it evened out.

I did the same thing the first time I played on Migol's Tomb, and then I read the clarification here. To get extreme height advantage, you have to be 10 level's above the figure's height. (Emphasis mine).

So let's say that you're shooting down at a Marro Warrior who attempted to clone in some water on Migol's Tomb. He's on level 0, but the figure has height 4. In order to get extreme height, the base of your figure would have to be 10 levels higher than the defending figure's height (0+4+10=14). Since the highest level on Migol's Tomb is only 11, there's no place to get extreme height.

Thank you for the clarification. The original text is not at all clear on this point.

I for one just learned something in reading this thread.

2011 most played: 1. Heroscape/Monsterpocalypse/Quarriors. 4. Warhammer Invasion. 5. Last Night on Earth.

Actually, I think that your wrong. my master set rules say that Height advantage is simply being on a higher tile than your opponant, and that the figures height does not matter. If it was as you say, than melee fighters would never get good height advantages because they would be non adjacent

(I might be wrong)

This is true for normal height advantage, but I'm talking specifically about extreme height advantage, which has its own separate rule.
