I posted this directly in the C3G Shop (forgetting where the question had been asked), but just to clarify, while it's OK to track points before you become an Ally, you're not allowed to actually spend them unless (and after) you're invited to be one.
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.
