A Heroscaper's Top Ten Movies

As a movie fan, I constantly find myself thinking about my all time favorite films. It's a tough task to rank your top ten, but I'm curious as to what other Heroscapers would list as their favorite movies. These are not necessarily the films you think are the best, but rather the films you enjoy watching the most.

My list changes a lot, but here it is as it stands right now:

1. The Godfather
2. Star Wars
3. Empire Strikes Back
4. Return of the King
5. Gladiator
6. Goodfellas
7. The Avengers
8. Step Brothers
9. The Hangover
10. Conan The Barbarian (1982)

Movies that are close to my Top 10, but not currently in: Taxi Driver, The Patriot, Moneyball, Napoleon Dynamite, Inception, Godfather Part II, Princess Bride, and Zombieland.

I encompass, and I eclipse.

Wow this is a tough question. This is probably as close as I'm going to get to a favorites list for me.
1: The Avengers
2: Star Wars
3: Gremlins
4: The Goonies
5: Jurassic Park
6: Men In Black
7: Napolean Dynamite
8: Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo
9: Alien
10:X-men First Class

Re: A Heroscaper's Top Ten Movies

Tough call. As far as enjoyment goes, there are whole series that rank up there. Individual films might find it difficult to place, but here's what I've got, in terms of how much I enjoy to watch the film.

1. The Fellowship of the Ring
2. The Return of the King
3. Young Frankenstein
4. Kill Bill Volume 2
5. The Two Towers
6. Gladiator
7. Princess Bride
8. Django Unchained
9. The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes' Smarter Brother
10. Clue

A fine balance of bloodshed, comedy, and epic warfare. The Lord of the Rings will always be on my top ten, no questions asked. Gene Wilder is one of my favorite comedic actors, and coupling him with Marty Feldman and Madeline Kahn makes it even better. I enjoy Quentin Tarantino's work with Kill Bill, particularly the second volume, and more recently, Django Unchained. Gladiator is something of an instant classic, for me. If only there wasn't that historical error of the bloody thumb in the arena... I digress. Finally, Clue delivers one of the most enjoyable comedies I've seen, chock-full of puns, innuendo, and slapstick without seeming cheap.

Ok, apologies for my heresies above, particularly regarding Star Wars, but I know I'm a heretic for that.

My top 10, in no particular order:

Comedies:
1. Ghostbusters
2. The Princess Bride
3. Blazing Saddles

Nod to the classics:
4. Lawrence of Arabia (or possibly The Godfather / Godfather 2; Dog Day Afternoon, etc.)
5. Doctor Strangelove

Clint:
6. Unforgiven

Recent Favorites:
7. The Avengers
8. The Descendants
9. Midnight In Paris

Surprise:
10. Wall E

Ask me tomorrow and the list will look completely different.

Well, no, I don't think anybody ever was. The man basically defines the term "egotistical bastard". Didn't stop me from liking the film, it just stopped me from liking him. Ever.

Anyway, Ghostbusters, D_S, is an excellent choice. I also forgot a few that don't quite make my top 10, but have a special spot for me.

- The Graduate
- Willow
- Jumanji (gods save me)
- O Brother Where Art Thou?
- Outbreak

Re: A Heroscaper's Top Ten Movies

Great Scott! I don't know how I missed Princess Bride! I'll have to revise that list!

Speaking of the above exclamation, Back to the Future is always fun for me.

Sounds weird, but the Muppet Christmas Carol is actually funnier than you'd expect...

And a couple special vices of mine include Fight Club and Serial Mom...

Re: A Heroscaper's Top Ten Movies

Hrm.

1) Jurassic Park, hands down, no question, always and forever.
2) Fight Club
3) WALL-E
4) Up (I'm a Pretty big Pixar fan)

Gets a little sketchy after that. In no particular order.

5-10)
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Empire Strikes Back
Spider-man 2
Casino Royale
The Incredible Hulk (the Edward Norton one)
Return of the King

The Star Wars/Indy/LotR movies stand in for their respective trilogies, really. Hulk stands in as my favorite of the Avengers franchise. Clearly, there are other movies I would be loath to do without - The Incredibles, Most of Nolan's films...but this list hits most of the major points.
