For sure. I don't love it for the lazy retcon (see Superman I and II) but if they do interesting things with time travel it can be pretty cool.

I do worry a bit that it'll be used mostly for retcon here, but hopefully at least in a fairly interesting way. I know it'll be an imperfect retcon if they do, because not all the major players are going to survive.

Sadly time travel retcons are a fairly core comic book trope at this point.

IDK, so far the MCU has been handled really well for the most part and thus they have earned my trust to not suddenly do something boneheaded just because they introduce a time travel element to it. I'd be much more concerned with WB making a Flashpoint movie with the sole intention of rebooting their shared universe since I don't think they would really care how they got there, they just want a chance to start over when it's done.

Yeah, I can't see Marvel screwing this one up. This is their big event, and they've consistently lived up to expectations for their other showcase films (Avengers Assemble, Civil War, Infinity War).
Just really hope Stark doesn't die, even though I think it's likely.

Honestly, I find it impossible to care about the DC films. Even if a few films are okay, they still exist in a world where one of the key dramatic moments was Martha. I can't get sucked into that universe - even if they do good films now, it's building on a foundation of crap.

I just don’t even know what DC should do at this point. I think Joker might be them testing out a kind of soft reboot to remove themselves frok the current universe, but even then do people really want to see another new Superman or Batman this soon?

I’ve also always found it unappealing that the CW versions of these characters are entirely seperate from the DCEU versions. I don’t think it’s confusing or anything, but it robs them of a lot of the charm that Marvel has with their one big universe.

And poor Ryan Reynolds Green Lantern is just stranded out there I guess, because either Reynolds won’t come back or because that’s the one movie that’s too bad for even the DCEU.

Going on old memories, Green Lantern wasn't as bad as Dawn of Justice, though admittedly, that's one of the lowest bars you can get. I mostly think it's just that that predated the DCEU and they planned this horribly. Logically, they should probably have used the CW shows as a springboard if they wanted to get started quickly - I haven't seen any of them, but I've heard pretty good things and I'd consider giving 'em a go at some stage.
Honestly, a Flashpoint reboot style thing might be their best strategy at this stage, but it still reeks of desperation and I don't trust them not to screw that up too.

I like the CW shows, but they have their own soapy tone, and I can see why the movie folks didn't want to use em. And leaving the CW shows alone means they get more room to do their thing, which I like - no way could a show like Legends of Tomorrow exist if executives were fretting about how it would impact a big-budget Batman movie.

Not that that would really be an issue, since DC somehow can't get a Batman movie together (which I think pretty much says it all).

Also, I must be the only person on Earth who didn't hate the Martha thing. But I may be the only person on this site who realizes that this particular fact is something that has never even been discussed in the comics. There is so much to dislike about that movie though, that I can't even put it in my top 10 things wrong with the movie.

I actually just did like... 15 minutes ago. I can confirm it is gucci.

Zdarsky might be my favorite Marvel writers right now, and he's perfect for a "our hero might actually be an awful person" story... and so is Daredevil!

Immortal Hulk and Champions were top notch this week, too. DC was riding high for a while but I think Marvel's in the lead again.
