Re: Frostgrave, Halo Ground Command and other tabletop minis
Looks great
@Hahma
. Im yet to have got in a game with Jyn or the pathfinders in. Since I generally play Imperials it has been up to my opponents to play her. Unfortunately we havent put in enough games to warrant her use yet. We have used all the units out yet except: jyn, pathfinders, taun tauns, generic rebel officer, med droid, snow speeder, Imp speeders, generic imp officer, bossk, rebel pathfinders or the occupier tank. We havent used the dewback or rebel vets because I dont have those ones either. I did just get my resin printer today. I wont get to try it out til probably tomorrow though. Thats cool that you are back to painting some legion. Im super excited to get to make mods for a bunch of the figures. Doing a bunch of aliens will be super fun for the rebs.

Re: Frostgrave, Halo Ground Command and other tabletop minis
You'll be able to have 4 different factions now
@TREX
. That should be fun for you and your brothers.
I'm finally working on my 2 squads of Rebel Commandos. I've had them for quite a while but other things kept bumping these, the Imperial Scouts, Death Troopers and Pathfinders down the painting priority. But at least I'm getting to them now. Re: Frostgrave, Halo Ground Command and other tabletop minis
I did finish assembling 4 pre-painted shipping containers this week. They came with 2 black and 2 silver. Considering I will be using them for Fallout, The Walking Dead, The Drowned Earth and Star Wars Legion, I figured I'd do some weathering on them and then spray seal them with a couple coats of Dullcote.
They are pretty good sized and the sets of doors on both ends open. They have clever connection points at the four corners, so they can be stacked and not slide apart. They will be fun LoS blockers, but also cool elevation pieces when stacked for certain units in games to be able to climb or leap onto. They'll also be nice to have an objective marker inside one for characters to have to get to. Additionally, I think they could make cool tunnels into hidden areas, if I put terrain and foliage on either side and on top of them and leave both sets of doors open. Re: Frostgrave, Halo Ground Command and other tabletop minis
Those containers are sweet looking. I think using them as a tunnel sounds really cool. Using them for models to climb or jump onto is the same reason I made those cliffs. Ive took another look at some of the fallout models I found on thingiverse since my new slicer program has a fix feature to clean up holes in the models. There are alot of great fallout models on there but a bunch are not completely cleaned up for printing.
I actually already printed an extra 2 soldiers in power armor and a deathclaw on my fdm printer . They turned out pretty good, but they would be even cooler in resin. Fun to have a few extra bandits or settlers and such especially if you wanted some custom jobs. I found a bunch of custom star wars legion files on there and put some of those in my resin slicer. I was able to fit 7 legion sized phase 1 clone models on the bed and got them supported and ready to print but havent quite figured out how to save the finished gcode as a specific name. It doesnt sound like it should be that hard but I cant seem to figure it out. I says saving file but I cant name it or find where its saving it. I havent started printing because I am still working on building an enclosure for the printer to ventilate it. I have a decent amount of plexiglass that I plan on using to build the enclosure. Im going to put it together with small machine screws and seal the seams with a silicone rtv sealant. The top and front pieces of the box will be connected and have a hinge at the top rear of it and a latch at the bottom front of it. Ill probably seal the door with a kind of weather stripping. A small hole in the rear of the box with a small fan and a hose leading to the window in the shop. Its more work than I would like to do but I want to make sure the fumes dont bother my family. Gotta work for it. So I put together the clones faction in the clone wars starter set. They are pretty nice models and go together easy like stormtroopers with a little bit of wiggle room to move their heads and arms around a little with round pegs and holes. The barc speeder was pretty crazy but nothing compared to the droid sprues. One look at those sprues and it stopped me dead in my tracks. Id heard rumors on the facebook page but they really are kinda nuts looking to put together. Im going to have to consult some tutorials they have available for assembly for those. Overall it will be fun to mix and match official Legion stuff with stuff from thingiverse along side any custom stuff me and my brother model. I even found a cool episode 3 yoda and a darth maul model. Pretty fun. Now I just have to build my enclosure. Re: Frostgrave, Halo Ground Command and other tabletop minis
No problem
@Tornado
That have other shipping containers as well. There is a set that don't have opening doors, but I believe there are some half length ones as well. That's why there is a notch in the top center of either side of the ones I have, so the smaller containers can sit firmly on top of these. If you get the ones I got, I found that gluing the handles on the doors first to be helpful. Then I built the container upside down so the roof is sitting on something flat. Then glue the sides to it, set the doors in the holes in their place and finally glue the bottom on. With the walls still loose from the glue not totally dried, it makes it easier to work the doors into place. Then you can close the doors to help keep the container square. Re: Frostgrave, Halo Ground Command and other tabletop minis
Sweet. Thanks for the tips.
Been brainstorming how to mock them up with foam board, including the swinging doors. I think japes already worked up some art. |
