I've got a nice compromise for I Want You. What if he could choose any Unique Army Card you control? That way you could choose a Unique Squad for a quick bonus to Uncle Sam's stats, without all of your army being patriotic. The downside would be squaddies probably die faster, but at least you wouldn't be investing 600 points to get 7 attack.

Why should the squad even have to be unique? Uncle Sam inspires the common man to join the fight for justice.

Because if you choose a card like civilians and you bring more then 1 squad, all of a sudden you have 8+ patriotic figures on the board. I'm not saying that's bad, but it would ruin what seems to be the idea of limiting how many figures Sam makes into patriots.

I'm not sure if I'm following this thought process correctly. If all UH figures in your army are patriotic, how is that difficult to keep track of? When a UH drops the bonus drops. I don't even use the avengers markers when running Cap with 4 or less other figures. You know everyone has the marker. If you are going with only 1 UH, then I could see a need for a single marker. When facing a team with 5+ UH in it, it would be nice to know who I need to go after to cut down on the bonus without specifically asking who it is again.

In the end though I don't know enough about the character to make a call on what fits better with his back story so I'll refrain from voting. Making a large number of inherently selfish and evil figures suddenly patriotic does seem a bit strange. Perhaps have a few personalities that he can not influence. Insane seems like one that would be hard to turn patriotic. Ruthless & Obsessive are a few other options, though I can see arguments against them too. Just a thought.

I like the idea of not affecting certain personalitys Yoda, but it might make the power look to busy or the text cramped. I like the idea of choosing 1 unique card though.

Excellent solution! Unique Squads could use a little more love anyways.

I think Johnny's on to something here. Sam needs to play well with future cards for Phantom Lady, Human Bomb, The Ray, Toro, Union Jack etc. and not with villains like Red Skull.

How about advantages for Valiant, Selfless & Fearless as well as Patriotic (and possibly disadvntages for Ruthless, Merciless etc.)? Or maybe Crime Fighters bonus (since the Freedom Fighters will probably be Crime Fighters for the most part).

Honestly, none of that is really needed as Crime Fighters already benefit from Cage, Fearless already get loads of benefits due to the fact that they don't feel fear, and as for the rest, I feel it would just make Uncle Sam unnecessarily complex. Why complicate an already good unit? Simple is better.

I think the best option we have - 3/3 base stats, +4 from other Patriotic figures - isn't completely viable for testing at this point, though. The question is whether we want to compromise the design in order to do so.

I say no. I'm currently working on one to go with him, unfortunately, it won't be done in time to test with him.

I think with the 3/3 +4 we should be able to get a good feel for him with testing. Granted we are one patriotic figure short of his max, but maxing him puts him on par with Superman but he will get weaker as the game goes. I think by using Superman as a base we can figure his points pretty easily.
