Rest in Peace Arthur C. Clarke
A great Humanitarian, Author and Explorer. I had the golden opportunity to listen to him speak via satellite phone in 2001. It was a moment I'll remember for the rest of my life. He has rejoined the galaxy, going back to, as the great, late Carl Sagan so well put, star stuff. The world needs more citizens like him. May he rest in peace.

Ah, jeez. People need to stop dying... it's getting really terrible. I can hardly deal. Steve Gerber... Gary Gygax... now Clarke. What a sad day. The world's just not quite the same as it was.
Rest in peace, sir. "Comics are a wellspring of imagination; comics can tell stories cheaply that other mediums cannot express. Today it costs $100 million to do special effects on film in 'Fantastic Four' that Jack Kirby could create 40 years ago with a pencil." -Grant Morrison, at the New Yorker Festival |

His books are some of my favorite Science fiction tales. I will miss his classy take on the genre.

I'm really, actually sad and effected by this.
RIP Arthur. I remember Childhood's End blowing my mind when I was 10 or so. Jeez what a bad month. |

I will miss him tremendously. I first read 2001: A Space Odyssey in an attempt to decipher the Stanley Kubrick film. Unfortunately, as with most Stanley Kubrick films, the movie has absolutely nothing to do with the book ...
Just because you're offended, it doesn't make you right.

I have never read any of his other books. That book, however, was the greatest novel I ever had to read for any class, and I read many classic authors. I just loved it. ________________________ now playing: Lee Hazelwood Back on the Street Again (Another RIP from a few months back.) |
