Dayton, OH Tournament - Sunday, July 25
Previous tournament: http://www.heroscapers.com/community...ad.php?t=29957
When: Sunday, July 25th, 12:30pm; the store (and sign-in) opens at 12:00. Each round will be an hour and 10 minutes, with about 10 minutes in between rounds. So with prize distribution, the tournament should be over by 6:00pm. Where: Bookery Fantasy-Games & Toys 13 West Main Fairborn, OH 45324-4712 www.bookeryfantasy.com MapQuest here: http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Fa...Games+%26+Toys Cost: Unfortunately there will be a $5 entry fee this time. Bring a prize for the prize table if you want (HeroScape-related preferred but not necessary), but don't let the lack of a prize keep you away. Gift certificates as prizes will be provided by the store from the entry fees. Prizes: Players will get to pick a single prize from the prize table in order of their ranking (highest first, lowest last). If there are any prizes left over, selection with start with first place again. Armies: No customs, no Marvelscape units - repainted versions of exclusive figures are fine. Your army is 320 points points and you get to choose your own limitation from one of the following: all units follow the same general; all units are the same race; or all units are from the same planet. You are limited to 18 start spaces. Each match you will be teamed up with someone to fight another team of two people. Your partner in one match may be your enemy in the next match and your partner again the match after that. There will be four rounds of matches with 70 minutes allowed for each one and ten-minute breaks between. Tournament Scoring: The tournament will have four rounds of two-on-two games, possibly with a one-on-one game each round depending on the number of attendees. Score will be determined by how many points (fractional scoring) you have left at the end plus the army value(s) of any enemies knocked out before you, with a 40-point bonus for being the first to get a figure into an enemy start zone (while that enemy has figures remaining on the board), and another 80-point bonus for being the first to get a figure into both enemy start zones (one into both or separate ones into each, either way; each enemy must have figures remaining at the time you get a figure into their start zone). So it is possible to get 120 bonus points each game, though this would be unlikely. If a game runs to time, win/loss is determined by the points remaining on the board for each team (it is possible for a single player to beat two others). When a player is knocked out of the game (has no figures remaining on the board), each player on the other side immediately loses their order marker three (even if it has not been used yet that round). This means that a single player fighting two will only have to face four enemy actions each round instead of six, making it a little less lopsided. Win/loss is determined by teams; if a single player outlasts all three others, their partner also wins. With a lower score, but a win nonetheless. Individual rankings will be determined first by win-loss ratio and then by score. Pairings will be done by teaming the best and worst record/score in a set of four against the middle two. In the event that the number of players doesn't divide evenly into sets of four, each match will have a one-on-one game between the two lowest-ranking players that weren't in a one-on-one the previous match. No effort will be made to avoid people playing the same opponents/partners again, nor to avoid people playing on the same map again - the format makes that too complicated. OVAH Bonus Points: The OVAH allows up to one full bonus point for OVAH Cup standings. Each match you can earn 0.25 bonus points by being the first in that game to kill an enemy figure. Glyphs: No glyphs will be used at this tournament. What else: I will provide dice as well as wound and order markers - feel free to bring your own Valkyrie dice, of course. If you need master set (RotV only) figures to complete your army (for instance, two people normally play with one master set and want to include the same figure), there should be plenty available. Who: Definate: Marduk - of course Father of Julian Storm Shadow Randy Pitstick Odin Osgard Steve Mayne + 1 Johnnylama Zack Maybe/Probably: Wookie Hendal gelcom5 Brewster heroscape destroyer Maps There will be 6 boards. I am still tweaking the last two designs; they should be up Wednesday. Maps will be symmetrical with team members positioned opposite each other. The player with the highest initiative will go first, and play will go clockwise the rest of the round (so every round the play order will be Team A, Team B, Team A, Team B).
