Disappearing Trickery 16

Whenever a Pukwudgie Wild Man is targeted for a normal attack, you may roll the D20. Count the minimum number of spaces between the defending Pukwudgie and the attacking figure and add this number to your roll. If you roll a 16+, you may place the defending Pukwudgie on any empty space within 3 spaces of its original placement has no visible hit-zones for the remainder of the turn and, if you reveal an 'X’ Order Marker on this card, you may move one unrevealed Order Marker on the attacking figure’s Army Card to any other Army Card in the attacking figure’s Army. You may not place Order Markers on any cards not in play and you may never reveal an opponent's Order Markers when using Reorganized Chaos.

Bio-
Swift River sat on the ground, the earth impacted by the foot-fall of her tribe year upon year. The other children also gathered around the fire, preparing to listen to Grey Sky relate his tales. River always looked forward to these moments, where the warm glow of the fire illuminated curious faces in the dark of the night, and she would be swept away on currents of myth and legend. She kept to the back, as she always did - she was a shy child, but her curiosity would inevitably get the better of her shyness, and she would raise her hand, night after night, asking questions and interfering with the elders’ train of thought.
‘Tonight,’ began Grey Sky, ‘you shall hear about the mischievous pukwudgies.’
The name sent a chill down Swift River’s spine. She’d heard her mother speak of them before, always in a hushed voice.
‘What are they, Grey Sky?’ asked a young boy towards the front.
‘They are the little people of the forest, young one,’ continued Grey Sky. ‘Smaller even than you and that’s saying something - coming only to the knees of a grown man. It is said that once they were friendly towards humankind, but that was many centuries ago. Now they are best avoided... they are capricious, and clever. They have tricks beyond the ken of mortal men, and are a danger to all who meet them.’
‘Are all pukwudgies like this?’ asked Swift River - she couldn’t believe that they were.
‘Not all, no,’ replied the elder. ‘While always mischievous, they are often benign, and may help our kind, or treat us kindly. Others are just as likely to steal children or burn villages. It is not worth the risk of approaching one.’
The children's eyes were wide - River’s included, though she was still too curious to be quiet.
‘What specifically makes them so dangerous, Grey Sky?’
‘Many things. Their arrows are poisoned, and they are surprisingly deadly marksmen. They can appear and disappear whenever they will it - they can trick and disorient even the wisest. They can create fire, spreading it throughout the forest if they wish, burning those they wish to harm. Believe me - their magicks are manifold, and it is in this variety that the greatest danger lies. You never know what to expect.’
River could almost see them in her mind’s eye. She wondered, with a mixture of awe, excitement and fear, what it would be like to come across one. She never expected that she would find out one day.

Bio - Emelia ran through the streets, her heart pounding, tears pouring down her face. Her village, everything she knew, was burning, in ruins. The barbarians ran wildly, slaughtering all they saw, the dark haired woman with the flame-hooved stallion directing the massacre. She had watched in horror as her son, Aled, a levy in the town guard, was trampled under foot by the horse’s incendiary hooves, and her daughter had disappeared utterly, was nowhere to be seen.
The old clock tower - it was her only salvation now. She’d told her young daughter to meet her there if there was ever an emergency. It was deserted, and nothing valuable was kept there; with luck the marauders would leave it be, if she remained quiet and didn’t give herself away... if Morwyn found her way there...
When she noticed a break in the fighting, she slipped into the shadows, and kept to them for the last few feet before silently opening the back door of the tower, entering, closing it behind her and climbing the stairs. As she made her way through the darkened building, quietly, hesitantly, she called out:
‘Morwyn? Morwyn?’
There was no reply. She searched the entire building - her daughter was nowhere to be found. She looked out of the window down to the streets below. The throng of bandits had thickened - there was no way anyone was making it to the clock tower now.
The crushing weight of grief was more than she could bear. Through eyes streaming with tears she looked towards the moon, ready to make a silent prayer - and then she saw it. A dragon, in the distance. She’d heard tales of dragons - they were ferocious, often capricious, but could be remarkably fair-minded and honourable at times. It was likely that if the dragon was aware of the attack, it would wreak a terrible vengeance on the murderers... and if not, the situation could hardly be made worse. But how to alert it?
She looked around the room, in a half mad haze, before finding a lantern and match. A light in the window might just do it - the clock tower was high enough to stand out, and there was never a light here under normal circumstances. It had been used before in ages past to alert the nearby military - why not now? She knew it would alert the raiders to her position, but she no longer cared. Her life, everything she knew or loved, had been taken from her already. Vengeance was all that was on her mind now. She lit the lantern, and placed it in the window. Within seconds, the dragon changed its course towards her, and she heard feet racing up the crooked stairs. She closed her eyes and waited.
Hours later, her spirit walked among the fallen, searching, searching. There was no sign of her daughter. She believed the worst - thought she’d been taken as a slave. Unable to rest, she wanders abroad now, her grief turning slowly into a deep and bitter madness, torn forever between searching for Morwyn, returning to the spirit world to find Aled, until she nearly forgets them altogether in her searchings, so consumed by bitterness and rage. Even now, as her guiding light leads spirit and victim alike towards her, like moths to a flame, you can sometimes hear her call, searching still...

Emelia is utterly intriguing to me.

I have been gone for a while and I have a lot to catch up on, but, as far as I have seen, the Move of 0 is really unique (I guess there may be a new SoV or C3V unit with that stat that I haven't seen yet).

Her Move of 0 with Spectral Phase and Moth to a Flame definitely make for some very strategic positioning and moving. If I am reading the ability right, I can see her being very useful on maps that use FOTA. Yank enemy figures off the wall then "phase" through the walls into the castle and wreak whatever havoc you can while you can.

I like that you can't move or attack when using MtaF13. Good call on that.

Actually, you aren't quite right there. You either can't move or can't attack in order to use it - it can take the place of either phase. Still makes for some strategic decision making, but if it used up her whole turn she'd be a little too easy to snipe before she can do anything.

Move 0 and Spectral Phase is stolen wholesale from a unit by @justjohn which is sadly no longer on this site called Baron Otto von Griben, which I fortunately managed to print a (tweaked) version of before it disappeared. He was a fascinating card - Life of 1 and all stats of 0 aside from that. He defended with a D20 roll, moved with Spectral Phase and forced units to attack themselves for offence - shame he's no longer around.
You're right that strategic positioning is basically her lifeblood - she can mobilise your own forces and pull enemies in, often at the same time, but she has a serious glass jaw and massively benefits from being paired with Brishon for protection from ranged snipers. Together, they in a spirit build have proven to be a truly terrifying use of 200 points, but the army still tended to crack against weight of numbers over time despite a dominant early game. I haven't tried her on a castle map - such scenarios feel atypical for testing - but she certainly sounds like she'd be fun there, and it sounds nicely evocative.

In addition, all figures within 3 spaces of her who are not Undead, Spirits or have the Ice Resistant special power subtract one from their defence.

Watery Grave 7

Instead of attacking with with Brishon, if she is on a water space you may choose an opponent’s figure within 6 spaces of her. Count the minimum number of spaces between Brishon and the chosen figure and roll the D20, subtracting 2 from your roll for each space counted. On a roll of 7+, place the chosen figure on any empty space adjacent to Brishon and the chosen figure receives a wound.

Water Tunnel

If Brishon ends her normal movement on a water space, you may immediately place her on any empty same-level water space within 5 spaces. When Brishon starts to Water Tunnel, she will not take any leaving engagement attacks.

From the silt-hidden graveyard of shipwrecks and the souls of the drowned came Brishon, at first faint echoes of energy leaching and forcing through collapsed structures of iron and steel and wisping around brass and bronze, before slowing to swirl a while around and through the sand-weighted bones of the dead. They paused, these twists, these threads of ancient memories, just below the ocean's surface, pulsing in time to the waves.

Suddenly, on the outer edge of the mass, a faint hint of awareness twinkled like sun on the water's surface, blinked out for a second, then rushed through the profusion of cloudy trails, electrifying each fragment, each tiny, ghostly branch. For a moment - a breath - the world fell silent. The sun dimmed and the air hung damp and chill as the calm of the ocean began to break - small waves at first, then increasing in power and height as each one teased and gathered the energy consciousness, rolling and bundling it together until the separate glints of awareness meshed and multiplied with each surge.

The sea, steel grey and ominous, began to bubble and boil as the mass underneath at first solidified and then waited, silently, for the rogue waves to form, to gather - to sweep the half-understood hints of memory that had become Brishon, onto the shore.

Bio - I walked through the shadows of Bleakwoode, my fellow samurai by my side. Our bows were drawn, our arrows strung - the eerie forest around was making our nerves uneasy. Thin, pale shafts of moonlight penetrating the canopy were our only source of vision. I constantly thought I could hear something rustling in the underbrush - nothing happened, so I told myself it was just harmless forest creatures scavenging for food in an attempt to calm my fear. I needn’t have worried about that - what struck us made no sound whatsoever.
It came in an instant, no warning, none at all... it was gigantic, a great, translucent, viridescent insect, more than twice the height of a man, with large, delicate wings and scythe like claws longer than my torso. Within a second, it slashed twice, and my comrades fell - it left no mark on their bodies, its scythes just passed through them and they collapsed, dead, as though it had cut through to their very souls. I was petrified.
The forest echoed with an ethereal cry, whether of triumph or agony, I could not tell - it could just have easily come from the creature or my comrades. Whatever it was, I knew it would act like a beacon to more of this monster’s kind - more would come, following the cry as surely as a shark follows blood in the water. I was not prepared for just how swift they were, though - it was all over in an instant.
Before I could even run, I thought I caught a glimpse of movement, and a flash of red eyes out of the corner of my own. I turned towards it...
The last thing I saw in life was a large, white rabbit with blood red, savage eyes lunging at me, its colossal teeth bared, aiming for my throat...

Still debating whether to add Predators to Hanternos's list of bonding options, though I'm leaning towards doing so. I can definitely see myself doing an update of a group of existing unit tweaks in the not-too distant future.

Midnight Hunter is a little complex side, but it doesn't bother me, particularly since its effects all slide into one another and have basically the same trigger... but then my personal taste does tend to allow for more complexity. As for Predators, I originally hadn't even thought of it, before @Ronin mentioned that he felt he was lacking in the way of 'Bug' theme and giving him Predator synergy to allow him to have Insect team-ups with the likes of Sujoah (as well as other Insect Predator cards I have, such as @PumpkinKing's Mantika or @superfrog 's Apocria and Ticallan Swordwings), which did sound pretty damn tempting...
