Zettians... gathering dust?

In the disucssion on Guilty, I ran across some talk about Zettians, probably the most ignored and/or forgotten squad from the MS. I admit that I haven't used them for months, but in building more themed armies, I want to include them effectively in a Soulborg Army. But are they ever worth their 70pt cost?

And are they even worth drafting unless you also use DW9000 to add +2 to their range?

Anyone here still regularly, (or heck, even irregularly), draft Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum?

If you do, how do they "earn their keep"? What combos/tactics do you use to make them "feared" by your enemies. (because let's face it, if they ain't feared by your opponents, they ain't worth drafting).

This is from the Guilty thread, but I'll put it here too DW9K+Taelord+Height Advantage+Range Glyph+Attack Glyph=Killer Zetties (maybe even Raelin for bonus fun!)

Although this sounds kinda improbable it is really rather easy to accomplish

They screwed up on the number of units /cost of the Zettinas.

Imagine if they were 50 points, or if there were 3 figures in the squad.

They'd be more competetive with other squads and played more often then.
But that's just off the top of my head.

3 figures with 7 defence and 2 / 3 / 4 attack die if you attacked the same unit (if the power stayed the same) {Incress +1 if your Zettan Guard attacks the same figure as the first}

With a range of 9 when teamed up with Dk9. An effective range of 11 or if you moved Dk9 first, 13.

Oh, and only 70 points. Wait, 50 points!! @_@;

Sure, why not.

I mostly agree. I could see the Zettians being worth 90 points if there were 3 of them, with the targetting ability still an option that gives a +1 to the 2nd Zettian targetting the same fig, and +2 attack to the 3rd Zettian targetting the same fig.... THAT would be a great squad of 3 for 90pts... Hmmm... easy enough to mod them, I suppose.

But for them being 50 points, yes, I agree that that would be a much more doable cost considering their # and stats.

We still use 'em from time to time. I haven't drafted them myself forever, but I think I would only do so in conjunction with DW9K. It might be a fun way to fight an orc horde...stand the zettians in front of DW as guards, and fire away until orc come within range of 9K's blast. Sounds fun in theory!

The reality is probably:

1 Orc Grut ----- DW9K

To see some one use the Zettians and win, check out my Battle Report of Doom.

Once the first wave of expansions came out I completely forgot about the Zettians. If reaper's cost adjustment were made I'd probably use them from time to time.

I think the Zettians are better than they are given credit for. Their defense is incredible for a ranged squad and they have great range. It's not uncommon having 1 Zettian with 4/10 for attack/defense. A 4/10 unit with range 7 that only costs 35 points (70/2) sounds nice to me

I love defense dice, nothing is sweeter than killing an entire army and losing 0 figures
