Question Opinions on collection-selling, please.

Hello Heroscape community! It's been a while.

As a result of trying to downsize possessions and taking a realistic look at where I have been and will be spending my time, I've decided to "reintroduce my Heroscape collection to the community." A large motivating factor is the upcoming sale of my house and needing to economize my storage costs for the forseeable future.

So, I have a question for both sellers and buyers alike. I have a reasonably sizable collection that I would like to sell. I don't however have the means or time to part it out into smaller chunks or individual units. What's your advice for approaching a large-scale transaction? Has anyone had luck in selling a large collection all at once? Should I go for the local market first? Thoughts, please.

Once I chronicle everything, I will list it all on the forum here.

Re: Opinions on collection-selling, please.

Selling locally would have to be easier than shipping it so if you can get the money you want locally, that would be my first choice.

Re: Opinions on collection-selling, please.

I've sold large chunks here through the forum before. You just get a really big box and pack it carefully. I think it cost about $50 to ship with the USPS (or maybe it was 50 pounds...I can't remember now. Anyway, the value of it was around $600).

Re: Opinions on collection-selling, please.

fil! Good to hear from you! Sorry to hear you're selling off your collection. Been thinking about at least pairing mine down. With the game now out of print and Scape Days (not to mention my own time) drying up in the area, the massive collection doesn't make a lot of sense anymore (if it ever did... maybe the Scape blinders are finally fading).

Re: Opinions on collection-selling, please.

nyys: Hey there! I'm still around, but with the kiddo and everything else going on, I feel like I just don't have time to dedicate to it anymore. It kills me a little to say it, because I really enjoy everything about it, except for the space it takes and the time it takes to set it all up.

What I don't want to happen is it to sit in storage, unused and unenjoyed when I think there's a bunch of folks out there who'd enjoy it.

I thought I might add my list of figs for context. I'm sure some of you will be able to tell most of what I have for land based on this list, as well. I'll have to look at that later, because I don't recall that detail off-hand.

Re: Opinions on collection-selling, please.

After talking with a few folks, I'm going to hold off for a little while longer and hopefully give myself the chance to actually set up and attend some game nights in the area. If I do finally decide to sell, I'll resurrect this thread and let everyone know.

Thanks for all the notes and inquiries!

Re: Opinions on collection-selling, please.

If you do sell, there's some of that Wave 9 stuff I'd be interested. Anyway, glad to hear you may be able to get back into it!
