The figure used for this unit is a Dungeons & Dragons figure from the Guildmasters' Guide to Ravnica set. The name of the figure is Rakdos Ogre.


DREAD CHAIN GRAB 6
After moving and before attacking with Motley Max, you may choose up to two enemy small or medium figures within 3 clear sight spaces whose bases are no more than 6 levels above Motley Max's height or 6 levels below Motley Max's base. Roll the 20-sided die once for each figure. If you roll a 6 or higher, place that figure on any empty same-level space adjacent to Motley max. If the chosen figure is engaged when it is moved by Dread Chain Grab 6, it will not take any leaving engagement attacks.

ENGAGEMENT STRIKE 14
If an opponent's small or medium figure moves adjacent to Motley Max, roll the 20-sided die. If you roll a 14 or higher, the opponent's figure receives a wound. Figures may only be targeted as they move into engagement with Motley Max.

In the shadow of the mushroom clouds, many found refuge in the surviving walled cities. Those who remained in the world outside...they changed.

The world's governments failed us. Wealth - at least, wealth as we had known it, in the Beforetimes - meant nothing. Fallen kingdoms in a world wreathed in flame, blasted with sand, and the planet itself turned against us. As the world fell, each of us turned to something to hold us. To keep us. Machines, weapons, whatever scraps of Law are left.

Some of those out in the wilderness turned to their beliefs, their own violent cults. The most feared - at least, the most feared in the desert wasteland that used to be California - is They Who Laugh. They Who Laugh hold onto nothing but their nihilism, clinging to it like they cling to their smile-shaped blades. Until their fingers bleed and their throats are hoarse from laughter. They believe the world, all of this . . . all of this fire and blood and madness is a great cosmic joke. Thousands of years of civilization, and it came to this?

You can barter with the other tribes. Trade oil for blood, bullets for water. They Who Laugh want nothing. Their Jester King rules on a throne of nihilist destruction and bones, and asks nothing of his subjects but to revel in the comedy of destruction. Nothing but a gore-shaped joke on the fabric of history.

The Jester King's most brutal in that task is the one named Max. The King's right-hand man, Motley Max is an almost feral mutant, destroying more lives in the grand joke than anyone in the Wasteland. Woe unto those who encounter him.

I just gotta ask, who puts this guy on a regular/30mm base, and who puts him on a DW9K/40mm base? I looked real careful at both options when rebasing him and I also looked at photos of him on the forum. I only saw photos on him on regular/30mm bases. Yet I would say his leading foot is like 7/8ths off the base if you use that little bitty base. I just couldn't justify it. He stands solid as a rock on the DW9K/40mm base, plus you can glue down the chains that hang off his waist onto the ground as a third anchor point to the base.

So I was just curious if anyone else sprung for a larger base on Max?

Yes, go for the larger base, since he’s a large figure. Might fit in the normal but we do recommend large.
