S.H.I.E.L.D. claims the initiative. Nick fires a shot at Changeling, who morphs into a turtle and receives two wounds. The S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents open fire at Changeling, still a turtle, in a Killbox and inflict two more wounds.
Changeling morphs into a stag and gallops forwards, before morphing into a gorilla and crushing a S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent, causing Nemesis to gain a scale marker.
Gorilla-Man rushes forwards and fires a shot at Changeling with his machine gun. Changeling morphs into a rabbit, evades the attack and leaps to higher ground. Another S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent advances from reserve and fires a shot at Changeling who, still a rabbit, receives a wound from the shot and leaps to high ground. Another S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent advances through Tactical Cover Fire. The two S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents on the front lines fire shots at Tempest, who blocks them.

One charges Changeling, who morphs into a porcupine and blocks the blow, but doesn’t manage any counterstrike damage. The agent already on the front lines and the other advancing agent both fire shots at Tempest to no avail.
Nightwing takes charge. Raven uses her Titan Empath move bonus to fly next to Changeling before failing to harm a S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent. Starfire flies forwards and, flying into a Protective Fury over Changeling, blows two S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents away, one of whom turns out to have been a Skrull all along - what a twist! Nightwing runs forwards and throws a baton at Nick Fury, inflicting a wound.

Round Two

S.H.I.E.L.D. claims the initiative. Nick fires a shot at Starfire, inflicting a wound. Two S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents advance. One Agent in melee combat fires a shot at point blank range at Raven, allowing one of the agent’s comrades to advance and fire another shot at Raven, inflicting another wound and allowing a third to charge and strike her for a wound. Piling plot twist on plot twist, the Skrull unmasks himself to have been Nemesis all along, and Nemesis fires two shots from height at Starfire, inflicting two wounds with his first shot but failing to harm her with his second.
Nightwing takes charge. Starfire flies up into melee combat with Nemesis and, flying into a protective rage over Changeling, blows Nemesis away with her first three blasts before taking out a S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent in reserve. Changeling morphs into a Panther and slashes at Gorilla-Man and a S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent with a devastating blow, taking out the agent and inflicting two wounds on Gorilla-Man. Nightwing charges Fury and attempts to strike him, but misses.
Gorilla Man strikes Changeling, inflicting a wound as his target morphs into a turtle. The last S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent in reserve advances while the two on the front lines strike Raven, inflicting a wound and allowing the last agent to advance into melee with Starfire, on equal ground, and strike her to no avail.
Raven uses Soul Self to heal a wound and take out a S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent.
Gorilla-Man knocks Changeling out. The S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent in combat with Raven strikes her for a wound, allowing the one in combat with Starfire to claim height on her and strike her for a wound.

Agent in combat with her, and Tempest sents surge of water to strike Gorilla-Man, knocking him out - fortunately, it is not fatal, so Tempest avoids the Curse of the Gorilla-Man. Nightwing claims equal height with Fury and punches him, but his blow is blocked.
Nick Fury slips away from Nightwing and charges Tempest, striking him from high ground but failing to harm him.
Tempest strikes Nick to no avail.
Nick runs from Tempest, taking a wound in the process, to run to height and fire a shot at Starfire, killing her.

Round Four

S.H.I.E.L.D. claims the initiative and Nick fires a shot at Tempest, inflicting a wound.

Mockingbird kicks Nightwing in the abdomen - he fails to dodge and is left doubled over and incapacitated.
Tempest fails to harm Mockingbird.
Mockingbird charges Tempest and strikes him, inflicting a wound.
Tempest unleashes a geiser near Mockingbirg, inflicting a wound on her and leaving her near death.

Overview: Well that was a bloodbath - short and brutal. It shouldn't have been that close, but Mockingbird was a certifiable badass at the end there. I like Nemesis, he's makes for a great little surprise attack, but he's feeling about 10-20 points overcosted right now, to me.

Not sure when exactly I'll manage to run test two, but I will!

Yeah, you can pick Nemesis for Fury’s drop team. I’m fine with that personally though as it’s a terrible idea to pick Tom 98% of the time and there’s nothing wrong with it thematically (it’s not like he’s a ghost that needs a fresh corpse to inhabit or something, just a regular dude with fancy masks). His card doesn’t really have the space to fit in anymore wording anyway.

- Fun Test - Definite Pass - Being able to replace a figure with him and then make a sudden, free strike was a lot of fun.

The advanced LexCorp flies north and kills the S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent there, providing Nemesis with a Scale Marker. Mother Russia charges the central agent, killing her (providing Nemesis another marker), picking up her gun and shooting two S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents in reserve, killing the first of them and providing Nemesis with another marker.
The three surviving S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents gather round Bane and open fire on Mother Russia from low ground, failing to harm her. At Rick’s command, Weather Wizard advances.
The advanced LexCorp flies south and blasts Weather Wizard, inflicting three wounds with a deadly strike while the rogue is off his guard. Mother Russia charges into melee combat, stabbing Weather Wizard in the neck and killing him before turning to strike a S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent, who blocks her blow. Nemesis gains a marker.
The three S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents gathered around Bane open fire on Mother Russia, inflicting a wound. Rick commands Shocker to advance.

Round Two

Amanda continues to consider Doc Ock her main assignment.
The LexCorp claim the initiative. The advances LexCorp blasts Bane to no avail. Mother Russia mercilessly slaughters the two S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents in combat with her before picking up one of their guns and firing a shot at Bane, inflicting a wound.
Shocker blasts Mother Russia, killing her and costing Nemesis a marker, and Vulture flies Bane forwards. Rick commands Vulture to fly back towards Shocker. Nemesis knocks out the advanced LexCorp Security and takes his place, costing himself another marker, before running south, standing next to Bane and opening fire on Doctor Octopus, gaining bonuses for height, Balance the Scales and Bane’s Tactician, bringing him up to two attacks of six. His first shot is ineffective, but his second bullet hits Doc Ock right in the sternum, inflicting two wounds.
A LexCorp flies forwards and blasts Nemesis, inflicting two wounds. Doc Ock advances and strikes Nemesis with his tentacles, knocking him out, before striking Bane for a wound.
Bane shoots up on Venom, adding two to his attack, and charges Doc Ock, striking him from height, but his blow is shockingly weak (1 skull on 8 dice!) and easily blocked. Rick commands Vulture to fly Shocker forwards, and Shocker runs up next to Bane and blasts Doc Ock twice - the first shot fails to harm him but knocks him into the swamp, while the second kills him outright.
The northern LexCorp flies forwards and fires a blast at the last S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent, killing her and leaving the Suicide Squad unsupervised! Rhino charges Bane, goring him from low ground, inflicting two wounds.
Bane overdoses on Venom, receiving a wound, and punches Rhino from high ground with a deadly blow, inflicting two wounds. Rick commands Vulture to fly backwards. Shocker fires two shots at the northern LexCorp - the first shot drops him to low ground while the second fails to harm him.

Round Three

Waller takes out a hit on Rhino.
Task Force X claims the initiative. Bane shoots up, adding 4 to his attack!... and then fails to harm Rhino with an attack of 10. Bane then chooses this, this moment to betray Waller, and gets his brain blown to smithereens for the favour. Rick Flag commands Vulture to fly him forwards, so he can at least keep Shocker under control. Shocker blasts the advanced LexCorp for a wound, knocking him out, before blasting Rhino to no avail.
A LexCorp advances and blasts Shocker for a wound before Rhino advances and charges Rick Flag full pelt, with an attack of nine!... before promptly blanking and missing Rick entirely, though he at least avoids injuring himself.
Vulture flies north with Rick Flag, firing a shot at Rhino and inflicting a wound on him in doing so, before Shocker advances and fires a Shockwave at the Great Evergreen outside the LexCorps’ start-zone, inflicting two wounds on it. Shocker, at Rick’s command, retreats back to high ground.
The advanced LexCorp fires an ineffectual shot at Rick Flag. Rhino charges Shocker and lays him flat.
Vulture flies forwards, carrying Rick Flag, and fires a shot at the Great Evergreen that Shocker weakened - he sends it crashing down, inflicting a wound on Whirlwind and leaving two LexCorps still in reserve crushed. Rick commands Vulture to fly north, carrying him and engaging the advanced LexCorp.
The advanced LexCorp punches Vulture, inflicting two wounds. Rhino charges Vulture, taking him out.

Round Four

Amanda continues her hit on Rhino.
The LexCorps claim the initiative. The advanced LexCorp blasts Rick to no effect before Rhino charges him at full pelt, hitting him from low ground and inflicting 3 wounds, leaving him near death.
Rick Flag shoots Rhino in the head, shockingly managing to kill him.
The advanced LexCorp knocks Rick Flag out before Whirlwind flies forwards.
Amanda advances and fires a shot at the Great Evergreen on her side of the battlefield, but misses it.
The LexCorp advances and blasts Amanda for three wounds before Whirlwind flies up and strikes her - she blocks his blow.
Waller shoots Whirlwind to no avail.

Round Five

Waller claims the initiative and fails to harm Whirlwind.
The LexCorp finishes Waller off.

LexCorp victorious, Whirlwind 1 wound, 2 LexCorp Security.

Overview: Well, that was a bloody weird game! Between Mother Russia massacring everyone in the opening, Rhino and Bane not being able to hit the broad side of a barn except when they did, Bane betraying Waller the only opportunity he got and needing to be executed and Vulture and Shocker conspiring to drop a tree on the enemy army, that was... let's say ‘memorable'.

Final Thoughts On The Tested Unit:

Nemesis is interesting... he requires a lot of set-up, but he can be a really solid surprise attack if you set him up right, and a really scary one considering how easy it can be to stack attack boosts (BtS+height+Bane was an extreme example, but not too far off the bell-curve in a Task Force X build). That he can easily and immediately be deployed to a good position in a completely free turn is pretty great.
However, he requires quite a bit of set-up -for this to be worthwhile, you'll want to load up on Scale Markers, whic generally means taking a large number of expendable squaddies and encouraging your enemy to kill them. If your opponent also has expendable squaddies you have to claw through, this guy is effectively castrated, so he needs to have the right build, the right opponent and the right situation to be effective. Not only that, but at 4 Life 3 Defence, he's pathetically easy to kill, and a glass cannon, through and through.
Nemesis does do particularly well versus armies with strong squad figures, since they're not the sorts of expendable squaddies that easily neuter Balance the Scales and when he comes in he can use Deep Cover Infiltration to auto-kill one of them without even a roll, Grimnak-style. However, it's once per game, not too insane and not a factor against most popular builds (pretty much just LexCorp and, to a lesser degree, Thanagarians... maybe Skrull or Kree? Perhaps Arthrians as well, but that's still not a lot). Therefore, I don't feel this should be a factor in his cost. Given he requires so much set-up and dies so easily, 140 is feeling a bit on the high-side to me - I'd drop him to 120 or 130. At that, though, I think he's great!

Well...that was a game. It was pretty one sided in the Fantastic Four's favor for the majority of it, but Nemesis did manage to do some decent woundage on Invisible Woman once he showed up with all his markers and in prime position to get the jump on her. 2 attacks of 5 thanks to the markers and Special Assignment, allowed for 4 wounds, almost eliminating her. However, he didn't finish the job and was instantly killed By Thing the following turn.

Well that was a hell of a game. I thought Luke Cage and the gang would have it based on the first half, then I thought Ms. Marvel had it when it came down to her and Swordsman, but Swordsman pulled it out. Nemesis had a decent showing again, dealing some nice wounds, but being taken out immediately after.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY:
Nemesis feels super squishy with his 3 defense and 4 life. He was killed immediately following revealing himself in both games, so it was pretty much the surprise turn, then gone. So everything hinges on how well that turn goes for him. The fact that it is a surprise turn, which as the player controlling him you won't always know when to pull that trigger, so I can see him being left vulnerable since he won't have Order Markers on him, and will be reliant on an OM hub to get more turns when it matters. Overall he serves his purpose though, and both his turns were successful in my games, dealing 4 wounds to figures much higher in point value, but I don't see that always being the case. He also needs some boosters or at least height to make the attacks mean something. He's got potential for something decent, but I find the hoops jump through and luck he must rely on keeps his points a gamble, heck, you could run out of commons if you're not careful. So his effectiveness is absolutely build dependent. All that said, I feel a drop to 130 is fair, 120 not unreasonable compared to other figures around that level that can be decent.

It sounds like 130 is the safest bet for the time being. It might be useful to see another game or two with the specific focus on using the reveal when it seems safe and see how long he lasts past that. If he’s still getting taken down handily, I can see 120 or 115 happening with confidence.

Yeah, 3 other testers is pretty much a hard minimum for me, so if you can get to him it would be groovy.

Maybe 125? If we also make Nightshade’s cost end in a five that could sort of tie all the squad agents together into their werid little love triangle thing.
