Below are some terrain objects I created for use in modern/Marvel HS battles:





The crates and pallets were made from sheet styrene and the storage drums were "borrowed" and assembled from a WWII model set.

I have a set of these up for auction on ebay here.

Could you tell me a little more about the sheets of styrene? How flexible and how porous is it? Also, how much $ and where did you get it?

Sure.

I use Evergreen Scale Models, purchased at Hobbytown USA -- Plastruct is another company who makes a similar product.

Flexibility depends on thickness, I work with 0.4mm (flimsy) to 1.5mm (stiff).

The material is non-porous... I prefer it to wood or card stock because it is manufactured to a very tight tolerance which is important at the small scales we're using. OTOH, you have to prime it pretty good to get it to take paint.

Price is about $4.50 for two 12" x 6" sheets. I wouldn't use it for wall construction, but you can get a TON of trim and detail pieces out of a couple of sheets. They also sell it in pre-cut strips (which comes in handy for trim work) and textured sheets (brick, mesh, etc.)

Styrene can be bought in most hobby stores/model train/radio control car shops.

It is pretty sturdy and comes in alot of different forms. From girders to piping (round and square) to strips and sheets (some of which are pre-textured to look like riveted steel or brick or stone)

The really thin strips are very flexible and can be used on cylindrical object.

With all the talk about molds here on the board, I might have to try my hand at it with these objects... not the pallets though, too much detail.

Queezi...I've been working on some pallettes using these small wood craft sticks....you might want to try those..its probably cheaper than the styrene.

You can get a bag of 100 for $1...they are the perfect width too.

I really like those skids and the crates too. They're really impressive and perfect for marvalscape
