1/144 is the scale for Wings, so all of those models would fit in perfectly.
Amazing work indeed.

The owner of that site also had a killer Zeppelin LZ41 model he bought from a Czech producer.

I'm sure you saw it, but here is an image

and then there was this nice little feature on top. How prevalent were zeppelins in WWI? How often were they involved in aerial warfare?:

Before the boardgame bug bit me, I was getting real deep in airplane modeling - WWI biplanes and 1930s racing planes.
Found I didn't have the patience to see a project through all it's masking, painting, sanding, glueing, re-glueing, repaintin, remasking, touch-ups, etc. etc.
I still own all my built models and unbuilt kits.

Just incredible and not surprisingly in-line with the rest of the cool factor this game is generating for me!

MacDirk, here is a quote from BGG concerning Burning Drachens listed among the 'Best Aerial Dogfight Games' List

Owning this set makes the game for me!
It is great fun flying missions Vs./protecting the observation balloons. The first time we played, the very forst balloon exploded with all 4 players planes tounching its card!!! **EXPLOSION DAMAGE** Wow, that was intense!
And though Anti-Aircraft rarely find their target, it keep syou guessing and second guessing.
Kudos for this addition!
See, that's the kind of play I eventually want to experience with this game and the expansions. We definitely need to get together and try some scenarios.
It's a fast and simple game and I'm starting to think several players is going to be preferable to just 2-4.

I can see 2-4 being optimal (a max of 5 if all of the players are familiar with the game). If you get 6-8 people, just split into two games since the space required for the game is not that bad and then switch up players after each game.

As for Zeppelin's use in WWI:

However, their great weakness was their vulnerability to gunfire.
That last part cracks me up...something about being filled with Hydrogen gas might be part of the vulnerability!

Then you have the other Zeppelin:

I don't think they were very popular in WWI though.

Germans gave up on Zeppelin's by the end of the war. But they were an effective terror device. People in London would be hiding under their beds when they heard the drone of the Zeppelin's motors overhead (along with the air raid siren) Then you might hear the screaming sound of the bombs whizzing into your neighbors backyard.

The most successful Zeppelin raid on London in the entire war was on the 8th of September 1915. This raid caused more than half a million pounds of damage, almost all of it from the one Zeppelin, the L13, which managed to bomb central London. This single raid caused more than half the material damage caused by all the raids against Britain in 1915.

On the night of 6-7 June 1915 Rex Warneford, a lieutenant in the RNAS, flying a Morane-Saulnier, was on a bombing mission against the Zeppelin sheds at Evere. When he spotted a Zeppelin returning from a bombing raid against London he decided to attack it. He tried shooting his carbine at it, his only armament, but he was driven off by the Zeppelin's defensive machine guns.

The airship began climbing, leaving the little plane behind, but Warneford, unbeknown to the Zeppelin crew, continued the pursuit, climbing slowly over two hours to an altitude of 13,000 feet. At this stage the airship began to descend in the direction of Brussels, and seizing his opportunity Warneford, now above the Zeppelin, dived towards it and from about two hundred feet above he dropped his six bombs on its roof.

Effects of Zeppelin attack on AntwerpThe resultant explosion destroyed the Zeppelin, and almost destroyed Warneford's fragile monoplane.

Rex Warneford - what a hero! Exciting stuff for sure.
Thanks for sharing that.
There's a wealth of historical discovering for me to do on WWI.

Wow order is due friday

I have no idea where I got the preview pics of the next wave of minis. Googled WW1 1/144 toys or something and got a site with a link to a long list of pics of various 1/144 minis..... all 12 planes were there.... I just showed one of each, the other 4 German planes I did not copy were also painted up in the flying circus motif

I had issues with the plane bases and saw on an aerodrome website where they use 1/72 models or bigger and mount them on radio antenna.... with a 1/144 model you could mount it on a telescopic pointer?!?!?!?! Check this pic out with the clouds on telescopes as well.

Here is the playing surface they are flying over..... dang! I needs some of that.

Just wanted to pop into this thread and say that I dig this game too. I only have Famous Aces, but I have a friend that has a couple of the others, so we can get together and mix and match them.

49ers Woo who?
Has anyone been able to find the deluxe set cheap on the web? The cheapest I have found it is for $60 plus shipping from Canada. That makes it almost cheaper to buy it individually.
