The Book of Impulse
The Book of Impulse C3G DC WAVE 41 CLASH OF THE TITANS Comic PDF Mini PDF The figure used for this unit is a Heroclix figure from the DC 75th Anniversary set. Its model number and name are #104 / Impulse. _________________________________________________________________ Character Bio - Suffering from a hyper-accelerated metabolism, Bart Allen was aging at a faster rate than that of any human being thus causing him to appear the physical age of twelve when he was chronologically, and mentally only two years old. To prevent him from developing mental health problems, he was raised in a virtual reality machine which created a simulated world that kept pace with his own scale of time. When it became clear that this method was not helping, his grandmother, Iris Allen, took him back in time to the present where The Flash, Wally West, tricked Bart into a race around the world. By forcing Bart into an extreme burst of speed, Wally managed to shock his hyper-metabolism back to normal. Because he had spent the majority of his childhood in a simulated world, Bart had no concept of danger and was prone to leaping before he looked. The youth proved to be more trouble than Wally could handle, and he was pawned off onto retired superhero speedster Max Mercury, who moved Bart to Manchester, Alabama. In Impulse #50, it was revealed that Batman actually named Bart "Impulse" as a warning, not a compliment. _________________________________________________________________ -Rulings and Clarifications-

Re: The Book of Impulse
NAME = IMPULSE
SECRET IDENTITY = BART ALLEN SPECIES = METAHUMAN UNIQUENESS = UNIQUE HERO CLASS = SIDEKICK PERSONALITY = RECKLESS SIZE/HEIGHT = MEDIUM 4 LIFE = 4 MOVE = 10 RANGE = 1 ATTACK = 4 DEFENSE = 4 POINTS = 140 SUPERSPEED Impulse may move through all figures, never takes leaving engagement attacks, and does not have to stop his movement when entering water spaces. After taking a turn with Impulse, if he did not attack this turn, he may move up to an additional 4 spaces. IMPULSIVE FIGHTER When attacking with his normal attack, Impulse may attack up to 2 additional times during his turn. During the additional attacks, all excess shields rolled by the defending figure count as unblockable hits on Impulse. IMPULSIVE MOVEMENT If there is a revealed Order Marker on this card, when defending with Impulse, each shield rolled counts as an additional block. Additionally, after rolling defense dice for Impulse or attack dice for his normal attack, you may immediately move Impulse up to 2 spaces for each blank rolled. Changes
Spoiler Alert!

Re: The Book of Impulse
I'm put him at about 170 on the calculator, and potentially higher. Four attacks in a turn is brutal, even if he's fairly frail and has the potential to get hit back during those attacks. Pump him up with some stat boosters and you could easily get to like four attacks of six a turn and not be terribly afraid of his getting wounded. If 170 is feeling too high, easiest dial to turn is probably dropping attack to 3 or making it a triple attack instead of quadruple.
I dig it overall. The one quibble I have is that "Inexperienced" is a new personality and not one I really love. Brash, Enthusiastic, and Overconfident all fit the bill as existing options, IMO. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of Impulse
Yeah, I don' dig the personality either. Reckless is another good one that's been used before.
I'd drop him down to 3 attacks personally. 4 is a lot of attacks to have guaranteed (and with some potential to move around between them). Re: The Book of Impulse
Fine with the 3x. I think I copied the text from another power, as I tend to do.
I'd prefer to go with Reckless. Good call there. Would I want it to be everything I love...sure...but that's just not realistic so I'm going to focus on finding things that will make me unhappy and work on fixing those. |

Re: The Book of Impulse
I like him, feels appropriately hyperactive. I feel like he'll be running more with the Titans/Young Justice than the Flash crew, if that's not a problem?

Re: The Book of Impulse
Can we add the phase to the thread title so I remember this is in progress and not a finished design?
I like the design, for Impulsive fighting I might word the first line as “may attack 3 additional times” since you reference the additional attacks specifically in the next line. Agreed I like Reckless, Enthusiastic or Brash as a personality here if Impulsive is too on the nose. Not a fan of Inexperienced as a personality at all. |

Re: The Book of Impulse - DESIGN PHASE
Fwiw I think he should still be plenty playable with the Team Flash faction, even if Young Justice is a better fit.
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.
