The C3G Book of Thanos
The Book of Thanos The figure used for this unit is a HeroScape figure from the Marvel: The Conflict Begins set. _________________________________________________________________ Its model number and name are #7/10/Thanos. Character Bio - Thanos was one of the last sons of A'Lars, progenitor of the second colony of Eternals on Titan, and Sui-San, the last survivor of the original settlement of Eternals on Titan. Born with grey, hide-like skin and a massive body, Thanos was a morose child who became obsessed with the concept of death. Through bionic implementation and long hours of meditation, Thanos augmented his Eternal strength and powers so that his powers surpassed those of all other Titanian Eternals. As he grew in power, Thanos also grew in ambition and desire for conquest. Thanos stole one of his people's starships and traveled to other star systems to recruit soldiers, mercenaries, and malcontents for a private army. With a small fleet he dropped nuclear devices on his home world Titan, killing thousands of his people, including his mother Sui-San. Declaring himself ruler of Titan, he then set his sights on Earth. _________________________________________________________________ -Rulings and Clarifications-

Re: The Book of Thanos - Design Phase
NAME = THANOS
SPECIES = ETERNAL UNIQUENESS = UNIQUE HERO CLASS = CONQUEROR PERSONALITY = NIHILIST SIZE/HEIGHT = MEDIUM 5 LIFE = 7 MOVE = 5 RANGE = 1 ATTACK = 7 DEFENSE = 6 POINTS = 500 PERMANENT DEATH SPECIAL ATTACK Range 4. Attack 5. Choose a figure to attack. You may also choose up to two other figures adjacent to the chosen figure to be affected by this special attack. Roll attack dice once for all affected figures. Each figure rolls defense dice separately. Anytime a figure that is not an Event Hero or destructible object is destroyed by this special attack, remove it from the game. It cannot return to the game by any special powers or glyphs. SPURNED BY DEATH Once per game, after rolling initiative, if Thanos is destroyed and all your Order Markers are on this Army Card, remove all Wound Markers from this card and place Thanos on any empty space within 3 clear sight spaces of any figure you control. Re: The Book of Thanos - Design Phase
So does he have infinite Permanent Death markers?
Would a better option be "When a Unique Hero is destroyed by this special attack, remove that Hero and its Army Card from the game." Last edited by Margloth; May 17th, 2012 at 09:29 AM. |

Re: The Book of Thanos - Design Phase
Since there aren't that many unique heroes that resurrect or that many glyphs/powers that resurrect, do we even need the D20 roll here? I'd kind of be OK with him automatically doing that to unique heroes that he kills with that special attack. If we had Event Heroes in there too, that might be different, but since it's just Uniques, I say drop the D20. Also, then in the mirror test, Thanos would be able to own Thanos.
Also, I think Margloth's wording is a good way around the markers here. Just remove them from the game completely and boom, out of sight, out of mind. I love the auto-resurrection! Much less swingy. Good stuff here (now we need an Infinity Gauntlet!). C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of Thanos - Design Phase
What happens to the figure on the Frost Giant's card that Thanos removes from the game?

Good question. Maybe we should stick with the markers.

Re: The Book of Thanos - Design Phase
Hmm ... I guess we could just delete the "once per game" line and make it so you can keep bringing him back regardless until he has no other figures you control to land by. But that's going to make him reallllllllly nasty in large armies.

Re: The Book of Thanos - Design Phase
I'm fine with defense of 7,
I'm good Griff's change to the special attack that removes them from the game. I'm fine with him being able to be spurned by death as many times as possible, just worried about him being worth double his value in a 1600 point army as he could be in an 800 point army, but we can see. Also, if he kills the opponent's Thanos, that would keep that one from coming back. So he would be a good counter to himself, but a very risky one if the other one killed yours first. With the changes, he could be closer to 450-500, but that's no big deal. Thanos and Surtur will be a nasty combination Hand of fate is moving and the finger points to you ...Iron Maiden - The Wicker Man TUTORIAL FOR RE-BASING FIGURES 3hrs 43mins 32secs = 1242nd of 8808 overall - 1988 Honolulu Marathon |

Re: The Book of Thanos - Design Phase
With Spurned By Death always in play, I wonder if we shouldn't drop his life at all from 8?

Re: The Book of Thanos - Design Phase
I am loving the idea of an auto return on spurned by death. If that is balanced, fans will love it too. With that said, that power, I think, needs new stats of Life - 6 and Defense - 6.
