TNT Classic Customs (Submission Thread) - TNT Stamp

Submissions:
  • Submit a custom nomination:
Your Own Customs: Simply post a link to your custom nomination in this thread along with the figure used for play. Only one submission per member will be considered at a time. Please wait until all of your customs are fully tried before submitting a new one. A submission may include multiple customs if the theme and/or synergy of the customs warrant it.

Other Members' Customs: You may nominate a custom that is not your own for submission. Send a PM to me with a link to the custom and the creators name. I will contact the creator to get the OK for the submission and allow the opportunity for any tweaks to be made before going public.
All submissions will be handled on a first come first serve basis.

Discussion:
When a custom is ready to be tried, I will start a "Trial of" thread. The first post will include the custom along with suggested play test match ups and/or scenarios.
Once the trial begins, all are welcome to critique the custom on trial. Constructive criticism only! Don't just say "it sucks" or "it's over/undercosted" without explanation. Also, NEVER post your version of the custom on trial in its thread. You could, however, make mention of ability wording you use, left box info, etc. if you think it would be helpful to the creator. Just be mindful that the trial thread is for the perfecting of the submitted custom and the focus should remain there.

Each custom will be judged on theme, effectiveness, and balance. These three things should be considered in your critique. Keep in mind, the creator is basing the custom on his or her (are there any "her" custom creators?) view of the character.

Anyone willing to play test should post...the more the better. Play testers will be expected to give report on the theme, effectiveness, and balance of the custom in their games.

Creators are encouraged to make any changes to their custom during the discussion. By no means should a creator compromise just to get a Tried & True stamp. But there should be compromise to make a custom tried & true.

Judging:
I will assign each judge to the different trials on the list. Let me know if you may have a preferred custom to judge and I will try to match you up accordingly. The first judge shown next to the TNT submission in the first post will be responsible for starting the trial thread and keeping it in accordance to the TNT guidelines (1 month period stressed).

Judges, feel free to give input on other trials but please give as much, if not more, focus to your assigned trial.

Current Judges:
  • NecroBlade
    Fallen Templar
    whitestuff
    ZBeeblebrox
    Pumpkin_King
    Taelord
    Firemaster
    Lord_Mortis
    brickman1444 (finishing current trial)
    kidlob
    King's Knight
    Nos13
    Roland
    chief
The discussion for each trial will remain open for 1 week or until there are 3 "approved stamps" from the judges. The judges will take into account all of the community critiques and playtesting along with their own and vote on each submission. When a judge is fully satisfied with the custom, he will post an "approved stamp" in the trial thread. If the stamps are not posted before the week is up, the trial thread will be locked. The custom may be revamped and resubmitted to open the trial thread again but it will be in line behind any other submissions in waiting.

A custom that receives 3 "approved stamps" will have its trial thread converted into a "Book of" thread.

*Much thanks to allskulls and the other Marvel guys for setting up this awesome idea. Also, thanks to any participating judges in these trials.

TNT stamp to add to your approved customs:

1. A custom should be play tested more than once.

2. A custom should be play tested against different types of armies.

3. When play testing, you should play test against the same army at least 2 times (and possibly 3) to ensure there are no fluke wins or losses before play testing against a different army. For example, if you play against a 600 pt army that includes Kaemon Awa, 1x Einar Imperium, 2x Ashigaru Harquebus, 2x Ashigaru Yari, Guilty McCreech, and Isamu, and the custom being play tested dominates or performs miserably against that army, play against the same exact army again to take into consideration bad dice rolls before declaring a custom over/under powered or over/under costed.

4. A custom should be play tested on battlefields with glyphs and battlefields without glyphs.

5. A custom should be played on different types of battlefields and/or scenarios with different types of terrain.

Any other suggestions?

Also, to ensure a custom gets play tested properly, and to take into account people's RL schedules, I think the judging time should be extended to a month instead of a week, and at the end of that month, the judges either approve or disapprove the custom on trial. (Some people don't know that they have been assigned as a judge until a few days after the trial has begun.) I'd say for the first week, discuss the custom in question regarding it's stats, base size, wording of abilities, points, etc. Each week thereafter during that month, play testers can post their initial play test results and suggestions to be considered for the next week.

I always liked this one from Nether, I think it might be back from the HQ days, but not sure. Of course it needs Nether's ok before we put it up on trial.

Also I'd like to put in this one from myself. It was one of the first I ever made, but I like it and still use it more than most.

I'd like to submit my "Masked Gnome" for submission. The Figure is my own handiwork (as evidenced by it's sculpey construction and blobbiness) but I think the card came out pretty well...

You think we have enough to get two trials up and running?

Most definitely. Here are the judge assignments (remember, the head judge* is the one who starts the trial thread):

Asgard Mithrilaxe by Fallen Templar will be judged by:
NecroBlade*
hi1hi1hi1hi1
ZBeeblebrox

and Judge Blacklock by NecroBlade will be judged by:
Fallen Templar*
whitestuff
Pumpkin_King

I'll update the first post with links to the trial threads as soon as they go up.

To everyone else browsing the customs forum, please please sign up to be a judge, so we can get more trials up and running!

If you post a link to a specific Mimring custom, I'll gladly add it to the list awaiting trial.
