Oman's League - 350pt Tourny with pictures! FIXTURE 2 NOW UP

I often find myself playing Heroscape against myself in my spare time. Which might sound a little sad, but the Heroscape community here in the UK is far from bustling, and people play video games by themselves all the time. When I want to get away from a screen for a few hours, a game of Heroscape with myself is a great escape.

On this note, I have decided to begin a round robin made up for 10 armies of 350, which I have drafted. Everyone will play everyone else once to determine an over all league winner.

I began by taking the 10 cards in my collection with the highest point values, and made each a 'team captain' I then drafted from there, picking what I thought would make a strong army. The lowest value captain picked first in a snaking draft. A D20 was rolled to break any ties and the draft began.

Deathwalker 8000's Team (Rapid Reckoning)

As the lowest cost captain, Deathwalker 8K got the first pick. As Raelin is one of the best units in any army, naturally he went straight for her, hoping her boost up to 10 defence (11 with height) could save him from a dice whiff or two. Due to the snaking draft, Deathwalker 8K's next pick wasn't for some time and his options were limited. I went for Agent Carr as I recently played a game in which Thorgrim's spirit made a 6 attack, 5 defence Carr pretty scary. After this pick, there was nothing left this team could snag for 40 points, so they left the draft. With Deathwalker's ranged special, and Agent Carr's strong melee attack backed by Raelin's Aura, this team should be pretty formidable.

Deathwalker 9000's Team (Eat Steel)

If I'm honest, I dropped the ball on this team. I was originally considering Raelin (SOTM) as a first pick, giving the same 10 Defence as Deathwalker 8k's team but couldn't justify the increased point cost. Instead first pick went to the Zettian guard because of the obvious synergy. When things snaked back around, both Raelins were gone and choice was limited. In the end I went for Grimnak (the 120 points I should have spent on the Kyrie!) as I felt the team needed some melee power and a big target to lure shots away from the the 1 life team captain. Not my best drafting. But fairly good defence all around, the potential to do some good damage to squads and two 7 defence, 9 range soulborgs is nothing to laugh at. We'll see how they do.

Major Q10's Team (The Battalion)

I wanted to capitalize on Major Q10's wrist rocket ability, which I have used to devastate in the past, so when making my first draft pick I considered the best melee screen for the job. I was torn between the Vikings and Samurai, but decided with the latter as their extra defence die and counter strike would prevent the enemy tearing straight though. Due to the low point value of this first pick, Major Q10 had points to spare with the second one and took an drafted Sgt. Drake to add some heavy hits to his melee wall. Hopefully the four melee fighters can tie everyone up, whilst Q10 lurks just behind, firing wrist rockets everywhere.

Mimring's Team (Fire and Flight)

Mimring began the draft trying to cover their weakness. Whilst the dragon is very mobile and has a great special attack, it's defence is a fairly low. Raelin will cover this. I have also seen Mimring fall quite often to a slew of melee attacks from a four man squad, and Raelin may be able to counter this as well with her whirlwind special attack. Finn was then added to make Mimring's melee attack even more threatening and to assist Raelin's whirlwind. Whilst this team mostly focuses around one unit, I think they've made Mimring even more terrifying and should do fairly well in the league.

The Marro Hive's Team (Swarm of the Marro)

This is definitely the team that most looks like an 'army' and takes up more hexes than most of the other team combined! With order marker flexibility and horde tactics on the swampy battle ground, I think this team will do very, very well. There's not much to say about the draft. The only units to use with the Hive are common marro squads, so this team just grabbed everything it could in this category.

Su-Bak-Na's Army (The Supremacy)

Another team where I may have dropped the ball a little. My ideal team would have been Su-Bak-Na and two squads of stingers, but the Hive won the dice roll to draft first, leaving me with a tricky decision as to what to make the second pick. The airborne elite seemed like a good clean up squad at the time, but looking now the defence stats on this team as very, very low. Still, the stingers should be powerful and pass their drain rolls more often with Su-Bak-Na around, who has 7 attack himself. I think I've made a powerful glass cannon. They'll either hit hard, or get destroyed - and in the 6 round games I'll be playing the Elite may be slightly unreliable, they might get swapped out in the trade window!

Sonlen's Team (S3)

I tried to capitalize here on my own personal meta-game with Sonlen being one of the very few healers in my set. I'm hoping his, somewhat unreliable healing, can keep Syvarris alive long enough to send several arrows into the enemy's rank, whilst Ne-Gok-Sa makes the enemy think twice about approaching. Should Syvarris fall, a second attack of a 6 defence Warlord backed up by a ranged healer should be able to clear up, especially if one of the enemy gets shackled. Team S3 (Swoop, Shoot, Shackle) seem to me to be a powerful trio. Let's see who can stop them.

Sgt. Drake Alexander (SOTM)'s Team (Shooters and Swordsmen)

this team should do very well. The Krav are almost unbeatable when you can't get into melee range, and this team boasts a large and powerful melee screen. The vikings can move forward, and a grappling or 6 move Drake can follow them, taking on the bigger foes whilst the agents get height and rain down death. The narrow points of the battlefield will be easy enough for Drake and the Vikings to control and the team has a very nice mix of melee and range.

I honestly think this team might be unbeatable. I'm sure once I start playing I'll find a way, but on paper I can't imagine it. a 9 life Charos flying around, taking down whoever he pleases and doing even more damage when the enemy attack him, supported by a firing line of troops that get 4 attacks per turn, and with height and their handy Viking friend - 5 defence! If the enemy decide to pick off Thorgrim this bonus doesn't go away, or Charos could even go up to 6 defence! I think this team will finish somewhere near the top.

Tor-Kul-Na's Team (The Tramplers)

Due to his position on the end of the snaking draft, Tor-Kul-Na got a double pick, and immediately took two units of Nargrubs. If utilized to maximum efficiency, the enemy are now dealing with 6 attack, 5 defence giant who needs to be hit 18 times before he can be taken down. Whilst he moves he can trample everything underfoot, and his end of turn attack is one of the strongest in the game. One of the scariest units got even scarier. I'm not sure how Shiori will fit into the team's tactics. But due to the low cost of the grubs the team was able to snatch her up with some excess points - she'll probably make a good surprise assassin.

My changes are as follows:
1) As I only have 1 Marro Hive and it will be in some of the fights, the hive in the middle is going to be replaced with some fortress stuff to block line of sight. All six tiles the hive would sit on are replaced by tower bases, with 1 tower wall piece on top of each, a fortress walk tile on top of that and battlements surrounding. Two ladders will allow non-flyers access to this.
2) I will not be playing with any glyphs.

Tournament Structure and Victory
There will be 9 fixtures of the tournament, each featuring 5 randomly
generated matches. this will allow every team to battle every other team once. Each match will have a six-round time limit. the winner of the tournament will be decided by Victory Points and Tie-Breaker Points.
-Victory Points are very simple. When a team wins a match, they gain one of these points, making it a simple tally of wins.
-Tie-Breaker is a secondary measure of success that will, as the name suggests, break any ties of victory points. At the end of the game, the winning team totals how many points they have left on the battlefield (by traditional scoring, with an injured hero or partial squad counting for the full card value) and subtracts the total of the loosing team's remaining force (which in many cases may be 0) this is then added to their tie-breaker.

After fixture 5 a trade window will open, allowing each team to try and improve itself for the last 4 games of the reason. This will be structured in a way that favours teams lower down in the league table (more on this when we get to it). Cards will move between teams, and teams will also have the option to swap out existing members for the two cards not drafted for any team during the draft (Brunak and Dund)

the first fixture of the season will consist of these matches, feel free to make your predictions now, I will post a report of how all 5 battles went, with pictures, once I've completed all of them.

I feel for you, though. I'm in New York (US) near Buffalo and the scape community is non-existant. I have 2-3 guys that occasionally play, but my primary opponent is my wife, lol.

Online scape can be a decent substitute for when you can't scape physically with friends.

The Battalion vs Swordsmen and Shooters
So many Drakes! Who to choose?
I think this game comes down to who will survive between Q10 and Krav. I think I’m going to go with Swordsmen and Shooters Or is it Shooters and Swordsmen? Whichever I think Q10 will get some whiffs out of the Krav. Enough to leave the borg standing which means bad news for special attack averse SotM Drake

Swarm of the Marro vs S3
Oooo. I almost went with the Swarm on this map with the nice length for spawning by the Hive and the Drudge movement power, but 9 range from S3 is just gonna be killer I think. Hive will have to spread out its squads too thinly and only having 3 stingers and 6 drudge is not going to be enough to take out Syvarris.


Charos' Kingdom vs The Tramplers
Battle of the Heavyweights in the first round! But this map favors the Marro Warriors too much. I’ll take Charos’ Kingdom here

Rapid Reckoning vs Eat Steel
This actually looks like a fun matchup due to its mishmash. I am going to take Rapid Reckoning, but could easily see a Chomp ending it in favor of Eat Steel.

The Battalion vs Shooters and Swordsmen

The first game of the season saw The Battalion, captained by Major Q10
take on Shooters and Swordsmen, captained by Sgt. Drake Alexander
In a battle to see who had the better melee screen and better version of Sgt. Drake.

The battle began with both sides generally moving their forces towards each other, and onto the higher ground in the middle of the match. A few shots were fired Shooter and Swordsmen's Krav Maga Agents, but the Battalions Samurai had a height advantage and easily defended.


As the second round began the Samurai advanced further, but Sgt. Drake Alexander (Mark 2) paid them no mind, and used his grapple arm to fly ahead and onto the castle wall, risking a leaving engagement strike, but taking no damage, - he had a bigger target in mind. His shooters then came up behind him and took down 2 of the enemy Samurai, whilst Q10's shots against the Tarn Viking Warriors and their captain proved ineffective.

In the third round the last Samurai met the Vikings and took down one the Tarn Warriors, whilst Drake climbed onto the ladder and got an attack with a height advantage against Q10 - causing 2 wounds. Everything seemed to be going in favour of the Shooters and Swordsmen but Q10 backed away from Sgt. Drake Alexander and uses his wrist rocket special attacks to put 2 wounds on Drake in return! Even though the Krav took down the final Samurai, the swing in momentum had begun.

It only continued into round 4, with Drake retreating out of the way of the wrist rockets, only to be chased down and finished off by this special attack. The Krav began to race to the tower, hoping to get extreme height advantage and shot at Q10 along the way - but failed to inflict any wounds. The Battalion's own (mark 1) Sgt. Drake Alexander began to head for the tower as well.

Round 5 began with Sgt. Drake using his Grapple Cannon to hop onto the walls - making it no longer a place the Krav Agents wanted to be, with the height advantage denied the Shooters and Swordsmen could only throw their full force at Q10 and hope that he broke. But Q10 had captured the hight ground and his two bases and position made it nearly impossible to stand on the same level as him Q10 deflected 6 shots from the agents, and the desperately needed Viking charge over the hilly ground failed to come.

As the final round began, the point totals were wildly in the Battalions favour, but the Shooters and Swordsmen could still win if they could just take down Q10, but alas, his 6 defence held true against the attacking agents, and his wrist rockets took down all the remaining Vikings whilst his Sgt. sat in the tower, denying the only possible height advantage over him. The Battalion out manoeuvred, and out classed the shooters and swordsmen on this occasion. Below is an image of units left at the end of round 6:


Result: At the end of Round 6, the Battalion still have Major Q10 and Sgt. Drake Alexander (260) whilst Shooters and Swordsmen only have the Krav Maga Agents (100). The Battalion score a victory point with 160 tie-breaker.

Swarm of the Marro vs S3

The next battle saw a clash of team ideologies, as the small elite team S3 went up against the Swarm of the Marro, the largest army in the tournament, relying on swarm tactics. the swarm nearly filled their starting zone


Whilst S3 barely took up any of their own



The first round proved crucial for the Marro, as they rushed their expendable, ever regrowing minions. 3 drones took 2 turns each, advancing up the match and tunnelling through the tower, where with swamp water strength, and height, they unleashed a total of 12 dice against Syvarris, who had moved up to cover the gap between the ruin and the castle.

Sonlen did what he could to back up his Elven ally, and took out two of the drudge with a swoop and an attack - unfortunately however, his healing roll failed.

Before the first round had even ended, the hive cloned back one of these drudge.

With heavy damage already done, the Swarm sent their heavier stingers forward to finish of syvarris, and move onto the rest! They crept towards the centre of the map and began to gain height as Syvarris tried his best to pick them off. This continued into round 3 as Sonlen pushed forward, taking down a stinger on the way, and began to head for the hive. More drudge tunnelled under the castle, but Syvarris was able to pick them off using his superior range.

Round 4 proved crucial for the battle, as the stinger finished their climb to the top of the tower and gained extreme height advantage. Now with the potential to attack with 6 dice, 3 times at a range of 5, S3 were right to be afraid.

Still, Sonlen pushed on, and with a series of dragon swoops and attacks from height took down the hive, leaving only a finite number of squad figures to pick off.


At this point, S3 were confident they had the game all but won - but the Swarm of the Marro still had some tricks up their sleeve, and weren't afraid to stoop low. STINGER DENIAL came into play as Sonlen was forced to either grant a height advantage to the stinger and risk a strong counter attack, or stay on the far side of the map, away from his wounded ally in need. He chose to stay.

Meanwhile, as Syvarris ducked out of the way, the Stingers pulled off another trick and took S3 by surprise as one of them leaped from the tower - landing safely in the water - and gave chase! Syvarris had nowhere to run, and fell to this manoeuvrer


With Syvarris dead, and Ne-Gok-Sa and Sonlen left to take down a handful of squads, point totals suddenly began to matter a lot as order markers were set for the final round. S3 realized all they had to do was move Ne-Gok-Sa up to the final nearby stinger and finish it for a guaranteed win. Meanwhile, Sonlen was 1 wound away from death, and the Swarm realized that picking him off whilst keeping their stinger alive would mean victory for them. The race was on as all 3 order markers were piled onto Ne-Gok-Sa and the stinger. The first one to accomplish their mission would win the entire game. The initiative swung in the Swarms favour, and the stinger executed its task flawlessly, running across the battlefield and taking down Sonlen to steal victory for the Swarm of the Marro.


Result: At the end of round 6, the Swarm of the Marro have one squad of stingers and one squad of Drudge remaining for 110 points whilst S3 have only Ne-Gok-Sa (90) the Swarm gain a victory point with 20 tie-breaker.

Charos' Kingdom vs The Tramplers

The third match of the tournament saw a real clash of the titans as the two highest point cost figures in the league - Charos and Tor-Kul-Na prepared to battle it out. They took position, with their teams, on opposite sides of the map:



Winning the initiative, Charos' Kingdom moved out. The Marro Warriors headed for water where they could clone, and Thorgrim backed them up. Charos meanwhile flew straight for some nearby high ground, and solidly stood his ground, challenging the Tramplers to come near him. Despite having this high ground, Tor-Kul-Na was not discouraged. With his 6 extra hits from life bonding, he was sure he could take on Charos. Putting all his markers on the grubs, he flew across the board in a single round, and the battle of the heavyweights had begun...


Round 2 saw the fight really get underway, as a great roll from Tor-Kul-Na put FOUR wounds on Charos. But the Marro warriors protected their king, and began to pick off the Narrgrubs as well as take shots at the Hivelord. At the end of the round, a counter strike put Tor-Kul-Na 1 wound away from death.

As Charos and Tor-Kul-Na continued to slug it out (with Tor-Kul-Na having a snack on some grubs to heal up), the tramplers saw that the Marro could easily pick off the grubs before they could be used to heal, so one of the grubs was sent to take down some of the marro warriors. Using bonding to their advantage, this grub took down 2 of the marro warriors, whilst Tor-Kul-Na continued to hit hard. Soon there was only 1 marro warrior left, and Charos had taken 6 wounds. The warriors were on the run at this point... but managed to climb the tower and get a killing shot on Tor-Kul-Na.

Now left with Shiori and a single grub, the Tramplers didn't stand much of a chance. The grub decided to fight Charos anyway, and even managed to inflict a wound whilst Shiori headed for the tower. The marro tried to clone back, but failed without water there to assist them.

The grub continued to try and fight Charos, needing only a couple more lucky hits to take him out, but the underdog story came to a swift end with a heavy counter strike. shirori meanwhile, scaled the tower and took out the last of the Marro Warriors.

The tower was hers!.. until Charos decided to stretch his wings.

the Ninja was unable to inflict the 2 wounds needed to slay the Dragon King. Two attacks from Charos finished her off, and bought the battle to an end.



Result: The Tramplers are completely destroyed. Charos' Kingdom have Charos (210) and Throgrim (80) remaining. They gaint a victory point and 290 tie-breaker

Rapid Reckoning vs Eat Steel

With the fixture nearly at an end, the 4th match of the tournament saw a battle of the Deathwalkers. DW8000 formed a formidable trio with Raelin and Agent Carr

Whilst DW9000 bought along the Zettian Guards and Grimnak.


The first round began with team Eat Steel trying to move their champion rex rider into a position where he could eat an enemy or two. Rapid Reckoning positioned DW8000 and Carr ready to take some pop-shots. Carr's pistol failed to pierce the rex's tough hide, but Deathwalker 8000 managed to inflict 2 early wounds. Eat Steel realized they'd positioned their units on the wrong end of their starting zone as the long ruin played havoc with Grimnak's mobility.


With a chomp incoming, Carr went into retreat and allowed DW8000 to advance instead. Unfortunately the rapid fire special attack did no damage on this occasion and Grimnak retreated, playing leap frog with his soulborg allies who advanced up the hill. Both sides then began to advance, getting into firing range. 8K traded blows with the Zettian guards, but high defence stats resulted in a stale mate.

The tide of the battle began to turn as the Zettian Guards picked squishier targets. Across 2 turns they put 3 wounds on Raelin. This forced Rapid Reckoning's hand as Carr moved up to engage both of them, hoping to cut them down with his mighty sword attack... but it was not to be. As Grimnak struggled to move around the ruin and up once more, the Zettian guards defeated Carr in a single turn as he'd been forced to step out of Raelin's aura in order to protect her.

As Grimnak came further around, the Zettian guards shrugged off attack after attack from DW8000, and finished the job on Raelin. With one round to go DW9000 climbed onto the high ground and joined in the fire fight against 8K. The soulborgs traded blows back and forth, but their defences all held true and the 6 round time limit came to pass with the battlefield looking like this:

Result: At the end of round 6, Eat Steel have Deathwalker 9000 (140) the Zettian Guard (70) and Grimnak (120) still on the board whilst Rapid Reckoning have only Death Walker 800 (130). Eat Steel gain a victory point and 200 tie breaker.

The Supremacy vs Fire and Flight

The final match of the fixture saw a clash of two glass cannons. The Supremacy had some formidable units, but would low defence across the board be their undoing?

Meanwhile, Fire and Flight saw two units attempt to buff their captain into a very scary dragon. But if Mimring should fall, what chance do they have?


As is often the case when playing with the Airborne elite, the drop played a huge part in the battle, triggering before even round 1!

Before Mimring could even move, the tower was filled with snipers.


Immediately responding to this, Fire and Flight flew out Raelin to engage as many of the Airborne Elite as they could. For a while it seemed to have worked as the Elite failed to hit anything for the first turn. Unfortunately for Fire and Flight however, Raelin didn't hit anything either, and the following barrage of bullets saw 4 wounds put on Mimring before the end of the first round. Meanwhile, the stingers crept up to reinforce the front line.

Mimring flew out, and with a fire-line special attack took down both a paratrooper on a ladder, and the stinger behind him,

but the victory was short lived as extreme height advantage made quick work of the dragon, and another airman got a very lucky shot on Finn, inflicting 3 out of 4 wounds in one attack. During this time Raelin managed to take down 2 of the Airborne Elite... but the damaged had already been done to Fire and Flight. Another shot saw the end of a certain viking champion.

As the third round began Raelin took Finn's Aura and went on the attack! She had some success, killing the second Stinger... but moved too close to her enemy's starting zone. Su-Bak-Na flew out, and rolled five skulls against her.


Fire and Flight put up a fight... but were overwhelmed by the sheer offensive power of The Supremacy.


Result: After 3 round, Fire and Flight are completely destroyed. Not loosing a single unit, the Supremacy still have Su-Bak-Na (160) Marro Stingers (60) and the Airborne Elite (110) scoring a victory point and 330 tie breaker. This dominate victory catapults them straight to the top of the league!

I think this game comes down to who will survive between Q10 and Krav. I think I’m going to go with Swordsmen and Shooters Or is it Shooters and Swordsmen? Whichever I think Q10 will get some whiffs out of the Krav. Enough to leave the borg standing which means bad news for special attack averse SotM Drake

Swarm of the Marro vs S3
Oooo. I almost went with the Swarm on this map with the nice length for spawning by the Hive and the Drudge movement power, but 9 range from S3 is just gonna be killer I think. Hive will have to spread out its squads too thinly and only having 3 stingers and 6 drudge is not going to be enough to take out Syvarris.


Charos' Kingdom vs The Tramplers
Battle of the Heavyweights in the first round! But this map favors the Marro Warriors too much. I’ll take Charos’ Kingdom here

Rapid Reckoning vs Eat Steel
This actually looks like a fun matchup due to its mishmash. I am going to take Rapid Reckoning, but could easily see a Chomp ending it in favor of Eat Steel.


The Supreme vs Fire and Flight
The Supremacy. Airborne Elite for the win

Oman's League - Fixture 2 battle reports.

Please find below the complete battle reports for 5 more matches in fixture 2 of the league! These may be written up one or two at a time over the coming week so keep checking back! If you're enjoying the reports, please let me know in the thread - your support motivates me to do this!

The Battalion vs Eat Steel

Spoiler Alert!

The first match of the fixture saw two teams coming in hot after victories in round 1. The Battalion, led by Q10 would clash with Deathwalker 9000s' Eat Steel to see which would be the first team in the league to acquire 2 victory points.


As the match began, both teams advanced their troops. Eat Steel chose to move as one unit, whilst The Battalion mostly focused on their Samurai melee screen, who took advantage of their high movement score to take cover behind the tower


With the front line now in place, Major Q10 moved forward and set his sights on Grimnak. A shot to the tail inflicted 2 wounds, and a follow up attack increased this to 3 but Grimnak kept charging, coming up the Samurai and chomping one. The Samurai fled from the hungry dinosaur, one of them darting around the castle and up to the soulborgs at the back. Grimnak promptly turned around to see to the other two Samurai as their engagements prevented the soulborgs from doing much.


With the Orc Champion struggling to Manoeuvrer, Q10 took the opportunity to climb to the high ground and finish him off with a shot over the ruin. From here the Soulborgs, Samurai and Q10 all exchanged attacks, but their high defences meant no damage was taken. The Battalion knew it was time to call Sgt. Drake Alexander to the front lines!

As the flurry of attacks continued, Deathwalker 9000 managed to take out the last of the Izumi Samurai. Meanwhile, a wrist rocket from Q10 took out one of the Zettian Guard as Drake made it to the fray to take out the other.

Round 6 began with Deathwalker 9000, Sgt. Drake Alexander and Major Q10 as the last figures on the battlefield. The Battalion withdrew major Q10 to make a victory by points impossible for their opponents, then managed to slay the deathwalker with Drake's mighty sword. Tactics leads the Battalion to another glorious victory.

Result: With Eat Steel completely destroyed, The Battalion still have Major Q10 (150) and Sgt. Drake Alexander (110) they score a victory point and 260 tie-breaker, giving them 2VP and 390TB all together.

The Tramplers vs Fire and Flight

The second round of the fixture saw The Tramplers clash with Fire and Flight, two teams based around boosting a single powerful unit. But who would come out on top between Tor-Kul-Na and his healing grubs

And Mimring, accompanied by extra buffs?


As soon as the battle started, Tor-Kul-Na wasted no time in rushing across the map as quickly as he could. The Tramplers used a risky strategy, changing which of the 6 nagrubs would move with their captain each turn. This meant that Tor-Kul-Na would have no healing support at the very start of the battle, but would be able to be healed more efficiently later, when he needed it most. As the Hivelord rampaged across the map, Mimring held his ground and unleashed his firey breath on his opponent at Tor-Kul-Na sturggled to move through the tight quarters in the middle of the map, putting 1 wound on Tor-Kul-Na and taking out a Nagrub in the process.


The second round saw the real slug-fest begin. Last fixture we saw Tor-Kul-Na try and go one on one with Charos to no success. Could he best another dragon in this fight with Mimring? With Raelin (SOTM)'s protection over Mimring, the fight wasn't as one-sided as it might have seemed. Mimring took some heavy hits, but Tor-Kul-Na was hurt too and struggled to heal as it was seemingly impossible to get a grub adjacent to him without it being caught in the fire-line.


Eventually, however, things seemed to swing heavily in favour of the Tramplers. A series of strong attacks put Mimring up to 4 wounds, and a stomp or two also wounded Finn. This, coupled with healing from the nagrubs that put Tor-Kul-Na down to only 2 wounds saw the match almost decided. As round 4 began, Tor-Kul-Na scoffed the last grub and got a killing blow against Mimring, leaving only Finn and Raelin to deal with. The Hive Lord moved into engagement to take them both on at once, and began to sneak Shiori down the map to clean up in case he fell to some lucky attacks.


A few stomps, slashes and shurikens later and Raelin had also fallen. Fire and Flight were all but defeated. Finn saw one last desperate hope - if he could just inflict 2 wound on Tor-Kul-Na in one round then it would only be him and Shiori left and his team would win by points, yet, as admirable as the champion's attempts were, Tor-Kul-Na proved too formidable a foe, and the game ended to time at the end of round 6 with the following units enduring:


Result: Whilst Fire and Flight still have Finn the Viking Champion on the board for 80 points, the Tramplers' Tor-Kul-Na and Shiori total 280 points. The Tramplers gain 1 victory point and 200 tie-breaker.

S3 vs The Supremacy

After a flawless victory in fixture 1, the third match of the fixture saw The Supremacy try and carry their momentum forward into a fight against S3.

The elite three man team

Eyed their four opponents across the map

with confidence, hoping to take them out before the drop then quickly clean up the Airborne elite in the late game.

The two teams wasted no time in going at each other, as both sides began to surge forward, moving their entire armies towards the middle of the map. Sonlen's fireballs took out one of the enemy stingers, but the other two managed to get to height and succeed in a stinger drain. Their total of 10 dice put 3 wounds on Ne-Gok-Sa and 1 wound on Sonlen. The bloodbath continued with Su-Bak-Na joining the fray. Ne-Gok-Sa tried to hold him still, but the Hivelord chose to break engagement to go after Sonlen.

The two captains fought valiantly, Su-Bak-Na emerging the heavily wounded victor, only one hit away from death.

... Then the Airborne elite dropped, and the bloodbath got bloodier.

Taking sniping positions, the airmen took aim at Syvarris, one round of shots was all it took to take down the Elven Archer.

This left only Ne-Gok-Sa to represent his team, who was quick to try and even the laying field by climbing a ladder and using his heigh advantage to take down Su-Bak-Na. The very chaotic only saw 3 order markers revealed across both teams due to the premature deaths of both Syvarris and Su-Bak-Na.

Further ladder climbing saw Ne-Gok-Sa engage the Airborne elite, with the potential of one mind-shackle securing victory for his team. This was a scary prospect for The Supremacy, ,who didn't feel like using two stingers to storm a tower full of Airborne Elite, so they ordered their paratroopers to lob grenades at Ne-Gok-Sa (3 of the 4 airmen didn't have line of sight and time was of the essence). The airborne elite got a solid kill!... On one of their own soldiers.


The Supremacy, however, did not suffer this loss for long and quickly came up with another cunning plan, evacuating the tower and leaving it to Ne-Gok-Sa, they would either finish him off with ranged attacks or win by points. To keep the Warlord where they wanted him the Supremacy resorted to STINGER DENIAL which blocked the ladder rungs from use.


Unable to move down the ladder, Ne-Gok-Sa vaulted the barricades of the tower and jumped into the water in the centre of the map. Here he was picked off by a Stinger who managed to roll 4 skulls, leading to the game ending in the infancy of round 5 with only a handful of supreme squadies left standing:


Result: With the Airborne Elite (110) and Marro Stingers (60) left standing against nothing at all, the Supremacy score 1 Victory Point and 170 tie breaker, giving them 2VP and 500 tie breaker all together.

Swordsmen and Shooters vs Rapid Reckoning

The next match-up saw two teams who'd suffered near losses in the first round of the game - and both by time. The Swordsmen and Shooters lined up against Rapid Reckoning, both teams coming in with something to prove.



The match began with both teams doing all they could to advance, but the Viking's berserker charge failed, leaving a clump on squad units seemingly ripe to be picked off by Deathwalker 8000, but fate was not on the soulborg's side as thick viking armour held true.



Deathwalker would not get a second chance to clear up the cluster either, as Drake took to the skies with his grapple arm and cut him cleanly in two.


The dice gods seemed to be entirely on Swordsmen and Shooters side, as the Vikings proceeded to charge twice in a row and cross the entire map - Rapid Reckoning barely had time to catch their breath - The Vikings were upon them!

Swarming in, the Tarn attacked Agent Carr, whilst the Agents took to the Tower to provide covering fire on Raelin. Agent Carr managed to slay two of the Viking Warriors before Drake moved further up and took him down with a lucky pistol shot.

All eyes then turned to the lone Valkyrie

Raelin did not last much longer.

In an unbelievable display of luck and tactics, the Swordsmen and Shooters washed across the entire map, obliterating the entirety of their opponent's force in just 3 rounds and with plenty of troops to spare! They may have lost their first battle, but this dominate win in the second round establishes them as a top contender for the league.


Result: Swordsmen and Shooters win without loosing a single unit. They have Sgt. Drake (170) the Krav (100) and the Tarn (50) for a total of 1 VP and 330 tie breaker

Swarm of the Marro vs Charos' Kingdom

Having stolen a win in the first round, the Swarm of the Marro came face to face with Charos' Kingdom - one of the favourites to win the league. Would their horde be able to replicate their success from the previous fixture?

Or would they just be more meat for Charos to feast upon?


Far from mindless, the Marro Horde deployed a good strategy at the start of the game; Their more powerful stingers took to high ground to defend the hive, whilst their more numerous and mobile Drudge tunnelled straight under the tower to begin some early skirmishing.

They met with Charos' forces before they could move up, and exchanged fire with the Marro Warriors to a no hits stand-still.

Seeing Charos so close (and ever advancing) the Drudge quickly hopped back to where the Hive could see them - side by side with their stinger brothers - and took some pop-shots at the King.

The Stinger's fired up their mighty weapons and used both their drain and height advantage to try and stop Charos' advance. They inflicted 3 wounds, but this did nothing to stop the mighty Charos!

A blink of an eye later and Charos was next to the hive. In his first attack he inflicted and instant 4 wounds.

The hopes of the Swarm of the Marro lay in the hands of the stingers. If they could successfully drain again, they might take out Charos... but disaster struck as they rolled low and lost one of their own to a weapons malfunction. Their next turn was more successful, but only inflicted one wound to the big green dragon. The Marro Warriors came over the hill and began to use their 4 attacks per turn to quickly clean up. Before long, a lone Drudge was all that remained.

The drudge tried to calculate his chances...



Unsurprisingly, the last Drudge was no match for Charos and his Kingdom, who win their second battle without a single casualty.



Result: Not loosing a single figure, Charos's Kingdom still have Charos (210), Thorgrim the Viking Champion (80) and The Marro Warriors (50) granting them 1 Victory Point and 340 tie-breaker for a total of 2 VP and a MASSIVE 630 Tie-Breaker which catapults them straight to the top of the league table
