Re: 3D Terrain Stl Files
Still needs some tweaks to make it even closer to the original. This was quickly done superimposing some photos in blender so it's not real accurate. I post the link to dropbox, but take in mind that it's still a work in progress. I want to make it as close as possible to the original, and then move onto the rest of glaciers / outcrops. Download About the print. 0.1mm 0% infill, printed without problems in 1h 30m. Could be much faster if I had set bottom layers to 0. |

Re: 3D Terrain Stl Files
I liked Adoney's water rocks, and did a quick edit of the outcrop. The water in the pictures is just for reference, the file is just the rock.

Re: 3D Terrain Stl Files
Since we are doing groovy stuff in this thread, the like of which has not been seen, I think revisiting this idea is in order:

Re: 3D Terrain Stl Files
Cool idea.
I believe you would OK to actually sell those as they do not use the interlocking hexes mechanic. It would be prudent to research it though. The castle walls are similar but may not be copyrighted. Nice find. I have never seen that thread before. Re: 3D Terrain Stl Files
I read the actual patents once, and being totally ignorant about laws I believed that they referred exclusively to the pieces as a whole, not the interlocking mechanism per se. Such a mechanism or a very similar one already exists in an older game.
However with the game out of distribution of we don't sell anything I would call it Fair Use. Specially in regards of new designs. |

Re: 3D Terrain Stl Files
Those wall pieces would be easy to model in CREO and then add texture in Blender--at least to the flat pieces. I don't know how much they would cost though with 3D printing.

Re: 3D Terrain Stl Files
This would be very simple to make an RV mold for. Mass production(ok, small production runs) after a few high quality prints would be a very easy thing to do in your own basement. I print and mold Warhammer stuff so making copies is easier and faster once I am happy with design and quality.

Re: 3D Terrain Stl Files
Printing up the 7 Hexer from the STL Index, so far so good. I am not sure how the top will handle as it is a very large wide open space. I did not include supports. When I get home in a few hours I will either see a mess or a beaut.
