Realistic Market Value

Hello all,

Being new to the game, I would like to know where I might look for realistic market values for different pieces. Ebay and Kijiii cannot always be trusted as a good tool for measuring value.

Thanks in advance

Re: Realistic Market Value

Firstly, welcome to the world of Heroscape.

Many of the trade/sales threads will have values that are a tad lower than what you may find in the wild, mainly because we are here because we love the game and want to be able to share it versus looking to make a quick buck. Auggiesgamestore.com is also another good resource for prices.

Re: Realistic Market Value

I was about to ask a similar question as I'm keen to trade a few items I have an excess of for my last few remaining pieces I need.

I've checked out Auggies and as they only put prices on the items they have and they only have around a dozen different figures in stock, they aren't that useful as a bench mark.

Since the game is no longer in print and no new troop combinations will drastically change the meta, game the current prices should be fairly consistent - outside of seasonal increases such as Christmas and lows as players drop away and then just 3rd party mention the game and prices rise again.

I'm not looking to make any gain from a trade, I just want to make sure that both parties are getting a fair deal. By example, I have a spare Ticalla Jungle which should cover most if not all of the units I want.

If anyone has a valuation list for all the units and would be prepared to share it then that would be a great resource.

Re: Realistic Market Value

My view of their site is showing prices even if they don't have copies in stock. Maybe it's a mobile vs desktop setting? If so, clicking on the individual unit page should definitely have a price listed.

Re: Realistic Market Value

How about Troll and Toad using the retail as a high end and the "Sell Us Yours" as the low end? I'm new to the game, so I'm just tossing this out their as a suggestion that others can review. Here are some examples:

10th Regiment Foot: $13.00-$19.99
Feral Troll: $3.45 - $8.19
Mohican River Tribe - $24.25 - $36.99

I posted this recently:

I would say take 25% off his prices and it would be the 50th percentile of what people usually sell for around here. For instance, RttFF sells for $55 on his site, which is on the lower-mid end of eBay pricing. But $40 (~27% off his price) is on the middle range on Heroscapers, and probably a "fair" price at least to me.
  • Hextreme Heroscape Spreadsheet - has prices from eBay and Auggies from a couple years back as well as retail, but also a good place to keep track of all your stuff plus many other features.

Re: Realistic Market Value

The 25% off method from All Things Heroscape came in the middle of the ranges provided on Troll and Toad.

Re: Realistic Market Value

Don't forget to do an ebay search, using the advanced search options to limit your results to only items that have sold. This is one more way to see how much people are actually willing to pay for a particular item.

I usually try to aim for the middle of those. It's a great starting point. It's usually lower than ebay by a ways. I think of it like my college days and selling books...I could sell them back to the book store for X and then you could by the same book from them later for 3X or I could sell to you for 2X and we both win. I could get more if I worked harder and and you could get it cheaper if you waited and looked but in the long run just doing the middle means we both can be happy sooner.

Re: Realistic Market Value

Value fluctuates with the market. I’ve found the best way is to search for the item on eBay, checkmark only SOLD items, and you will see what actual people are paying for them.

Very much this. People usually look only at ebay auction listings that often have 0 bids and likely will remain that way. Seeing what they actually sell for is much more useful for both buyers and sellers trying to find a reasonable price.
