Re: The Book of Kang (II)
Yeah, that seems right. Mildly blows my mind that we let Doom steal powers from Event Heroes, but it is what it is.
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of Kang (II)
That's the beauty of Doom. Anyone can wear the Infinity Gauntlet, but who else can *Snap* like Thanos with it but Doom? Who else can obtain the power of The Beyonder? The game allows Doom to be as he is in the comics.
If I'm correct, Doom can Mystic Power Drain an opponent's Kang (II), and Puppet Master or any other character in Doom's army that grants Temporary Control can control Kang to then attack Doom that round, where even one wound on Doom can be exchanged for Kang's destruction, solving Doom's riddle and giving him the satisfaction that he is in fact, The One True Kang/Doom. |

Re: The Book of Kang (II)
Another reason why I love that Doctor Doom can take the powers of Event Heroes is that it can encourage a player to play to the personality/class of Doom, as an Egomanical Ruler.
At 375, Doom is 5pts shy of being the Hulk. When I was first getting into C3G, playing by myself, limiting myself only to the official Marvel Heroscape sculpts/characters, I ran so many games of Infinity Quest Thanos vs Avengers or Villains. And I thought, what's so great about Doom, why is he so expensive? How can I best use him against Thanos? Nothing stood out to me until I saw the word Event written on his card, and I understood. If he's so expensive, when is Doom worth the draft? When the powers available to him are worth fighting for. When the powers are so great, to have them for a round at 375 becomes a bargain. @Tornado described IQ Thanos as "A card and a scenario, all in one!" I feel that Doom is almost the same thing in that regard. When limited to IQ Thanos vs Doom, Red Skull, Venom, and Abomination, the objective for Doom's team was a scenario of: Gain the Gauntlet w/ all the Gems, and Thanos' power and *Snap* Thanos out of existence. It took many many games, but eventually I played it just right with Abomination and Venom as my muscle holding Thanos hostage, Venom occasionally out grabbing Gems, both wounding him just enough and as often as possible to wrestle the Gauntlet off of him. Red Skull was there using the Cosmic Cube to transfer wounds among Thanos, Abomination, and all other figures, so that Thanos didn't die before all the Gems were on the board, but also had at least four wounds post-Rewritten Death in order for Doom to successfully snap Thanos away, on top of landing the successful D20 *Snap* roll. With such a specific set of conditions necessary for victory, when it finally happened, it was extremely satisfying. Doom only fights when it's worth his time. So Egomanical. Such a Ruler. I love his card. |

Re: The Book of Kang (II)
Yeah, one of the things I’ve always loved about Doom as a character is how willing he is to directly challenge (and often beat) these massive cosmic entities and gods. Because of course - He is Doom, destroyer of worlds, and what god dares stand against him? C3G allowing him to copy Event Heroes is such a neat way to convey that side of the dude, IMO.

Re: The Book of Kang (II)
I haven't played many games with Event Heroes, but now I want to just so I can have Doom copy one of their powers. Good stuff!

Re: The Book of Kang (II)
Yeah, for sure, it's definitely the thematic call and I'm glad we went there. It's just a mildly crazy decision in terms of game balance. (It seems to have worked out thus far, though!).
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of Kang (II)
Yes, I thank you personally for making the suggestion and case for the power to apply to Event Heroes in posts #247 & #250 in the Doom thread.

Heh. Busted. But sounds like something I’d do.

Re: The Book of Kang (II)
The power text for One True Kang says "Unique Nathaniel Richards" wouldn't that exclude the Uncommon Kangs? Or is just for Immortus down the road or something.

Re: The Book of Kang (II)
Just a head's up, the 2nd post doesn't seem to have the full wording for One True Kang.
