May I ask why that is? The Powerpuff Girls are literally superheroes and they have comic appearances. Not that I personally give a crap (never saw the cartoon as a kid or since then - based on the adverts for them and the name I was certain I'd find them excessively irritating ), but I'm not sure what actual reason there'd be for not including them. If it's the art-style then we're on our way to allowing the Incredibles, who also have an exaggerated/cartoon-y style. If it's the fact their kids then we have the Power Pack. Not certain about your reasoning here.
For one their start and two they just seem a little too nonsensical, but to be fair, I probably would have voted against allowing things like Street Fighter as well due to their origins

Furries are just people in costumes. That's straight up beastiality.

I'd support Powerpuff Girls. They're straight up superheroes, IMO.

C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

See, I'm on the fence with them. Here's why: I realize that Street Fighters, Mortal Kombatants, and Horror Legends opened us up to really cool design spaces and I am happy we voted yes. However, I also feel that it has caused us to jump down a rabbit hole. And the question remains, how far down the hole is too far? I am dead set against some of the things I see coming up in discussion lately (mostly anime and My Little Pony, and I strongly dislike Dr. Who), but I wonder what things that seem tangential enough will we allow that eventually move these things that seem outside of our area into our sphere of influence. I think that it is important to remember not only that the first C stands for Comics, but specifically SuperHero Comics. If we could remember that, then some of these Heroic things would be very obviously not SUPER Heroic and would eliminate themselves.

EDIT: To clarify, I think Dr. Who is most definitely Sci-Fi and we haven't touched other Sci-Fi mainstains that HAVE miniatures such as Star Wars, Star Trek, or Halo. That more than my own dislike is why I wish we had left Dr. Who alone. (Or maybe even developed it as a side project of C3G that is compatible but independent.)

Powerful Girls would reinforce the superhero aesthetic, not depart from it. They're basically Golden Age DCU characters, just young and female.

C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Yeah, as I wrote that post, I realized that they probably weren't the best place to draw a line in the sand, but I felt the need to post what I said and I have now said my peace.
I agree Powerpuff Girls seem very Golden Age and silly at times but serious at others.

Re: The C3G Cave - Hangout

Doctor Who I can see as being borderline. But it's much more about the adventures of one man with superheroic abilities and traits than, say, Star Trek, which is much more about normal people with futuristic technology, IMO. Both certainly fit into the comic book world, but the former is a bit more "superheroic." There's a reason that Rip Hunter in "Legends of Tomorrow" is basically exactly Doctor Who.

C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The C3G Cave - Hangout

Also, while I personally have no interest in it, a lot of manga does seem extremely superhero-esque - why should they be discounted?

Re: The C3G Cave - Hangout

I guess I just basically see Doctor Who as a superhero show in everything but name. It's about a strong central protagonist who uses their beyond-human abilities (mainly their intelligence and advanced equipment) to defeat a variety of evil villains. He doesn't wear tights, but each incarnation usually sticks to one iconic outfit/costume. The only big difference to me is that the Doctor usually solves problems with intelligence and tries to avoid violence, unlike your traditional superhero.

For whatever my opinion is worth, I think opening up what is C3G material will be a good thing. I got drawn into playtesting because I wanted to see how Michael Myers worked. I became more involved with the project because I was able to brainstorm about Doctor Who designs. I think adding in new avenues for people to explore things outside of traditional superhero comics will only help draw in new people who are excited by those properties. I do think there's obviously a line to be drawn somewhere, but I'd place that line way further out there than some of y'all.

Re: The C3G Cave - Hangout

As a counter argument, Rip fights real super-villains, not upside down trashcan robots with wheels. Also, Rip carries a gun and flies in a time ship (or time sphere), not in a magic phone booth and wields something called a screwdriver (that is a tool, not a weapon). Truthfully, Dr. Who has more in common with Bill and Ted than Rip Hunter, other than his choice of wardrobe (why do all the British guys wear trenchcoats?)

Re: The C3G Cave - Hangout

It's a game of adjacencies. Like, I see fighting games as superhero adjacent - Marvel vs. Capcom, Injustice, Marvel Nemesis. Same with pulp heroes, which are usually part of the same "supeheroic" universe. Conan, Doc Savage, and so on.

And then you get to adjacencies to those adjacencies. Like, horror movie guys hangs out with Mortal Kombat guys. Anime guys have met the Street Fighter guys. Star Trek met Green Lantern once, and Star Trek met Planet of the Apes, and so on and so on...

For me it's mostly a matter of how well they can adapt to our system. Like, Star Wars is great, but to really capture those characters, you can't trim them down to fit our superhero box. HoSS has made their own box. You can trim down fighting game characters easier than shooter characters, in my opinion.

It's like sorting your toys - they've got to go in a box somewhere, and you've just gotta pick the best one.
