We're also planning bulk terrain for stores running organized play. This way tournaments won't be so dependent on players bringing their own. You can keep your personal stuff at home and not worry about it getting beat up at tournaments.

So we will be working with convention organizer too. We also have retail terrain skus that will have "bulk" of terrain so people can build much bigger maps than what a typcial Master Set would allow.

A few things to clear up some misconceptions I’ve read today:

our team has a lot of expertise making plastic minis. Matt Hyra was a core designer on the World of Warcraft minis game. Leisha, our director of operations headed up manufacturing and is one of the most experienced people in the industry when it comes to plastics with over 20 years experience. I’m no slouch either.

pre-painted does have a cost but it’s not double or even 50% more than unpainted. More around 10-15% more and we think provides excellent value and makes the game much more appealing to many more players.

shipping and logistics are back to normal as far as times and backlogs.

Factories. We only make our products in certified factories. The inspections these have to go through are rigorous. I would bet most places you work couldn’t pass them. Leisha and I have personally visited the factories we use. The factory that will be producing Heroscape is a long standing factory for Hasbro with decades of experience. They actually made some of the Heroscape from the past and have a lot of knowledge about the line themselves.

I hope that helps clear some stuff up and keep the discussion going in the right direction. You all are great and we all really appreciate the enthusiasm you all have. We’re making this game because we love it too. In March we’ll be able to reveal all of wave 1! ��

Another thing to consider is Heroscape has terrain and lots of it. When you buy a master set or battle box you’re not just getting miniatures but a whole terrain system. Most other games you don’t get anything close to the equivalent of that. I think we can all agree the awesome 3D terrain system is a big part of what makes Heroscape special.

The great golden dragon Xenithrax reveals herself to the peace summit through a twirl of vines and leaves. The regal bearing of her head indicates to the gathered representatives that she was accustomed to respect on her home world of Arboreas. Here on Valhalla, however, she speaks on behalf of her Valkyrie General, Aquilla.

As she looms across the gathering, reptilian gaze sparking with cold intelligence, her statement is clear without words. Aquilla holds more power than she has ever revealed. And Xenithrax will not hesitate to prove it.


Stout of height and heart, Dorim is a dwarf of uncommon stubbornness. While he often stands beside strange creatures from distant worlds, Dorim has adjusted to life on Valhalla uncommonly swiftly. Formerly a close ally of the Valkyrie general Aquilla, Dorim is compelled to seek a permanent end to the ongoing war; a task he imagines cannot be accomplished alongside the Valkyrie Generals, whose very title is a military rank. He hopes one day they might right their differences. Until then, he does what dwarves do best, and follows his heart.


Whether on Valhalla or the distant world of Noxdorma, knights do not often live to see old age in a land torn by constant war. Thus Knight Irene’s grey muzzle demands respect—and the rage boiling just behind her eyes demands caution. For every scar beneath her mottled fur, there somewhere lies a pile of broken foes; those who would harm the innocent, torn asunder by her mighty paws.

The legendary temper of Knight Irene remains carefully in check, for now. She has been sent to the summit to sue for peace. Even so, her enemies would be wise to avoid poking the bear. Or at the very least, to stay out of her reach.


Misaerx remembers dying.

She remembers the hot pain of an arrow tearing through her wings, and the last floating moments of tumbling through the air before her body hit the ground.

She remembers Revna’s voice calling her back, at once rough and kind. Abandoned, forsaken, and dead, she remembers Revna’s first words to her, and the mission they now share.

Misaerx will succeed. How can she not? Even death has failed to claim her. Revna is all that matters.



In a world of blooming life, death brings balance to the cycle. Yet many Dryan choose to ignore what feeds the soil in which they plant their seeds. Raakchott is shunned and feared by their own people for daring to study the path of death from which new life springs. Their studies were considered unsavory, and Raakchott was alone. They have never forgiven their people for this injustice.

Revna’s summons was for Raakchott as it is for all of Revna’s people: a blessing. None serve Revna, The Outcast General, unwillingly. Where once they were shunned by their own people, Raakchott now enjoys the freedom to explore their analytical interest and has become a central figure in their Valkyrie’s ambitions.


Loviatäk is a shocking sight to behold. Anyone worthy of the Spined Armor is someone best avoided by those who value their lives. All questions about her gleaming golden axe or its procurement are met with an introduction to its edge. Her father Taelord taught her well; but his name was not what raised her in the army’s esteem. Ranks in Utgar’s army are earned with displays of savagery, and Loviatäk rises higher among his champions each day.

Yes, savagery is vaunted among Utgar’s forces. Strength is the only trait that matters to him, leaving cleverness a distant and forgotten relative. With so little care given to his minions’ minds, would anyone notice if a warrior were of uncommon cunning? Will anyone see the pattern in Loviatäk’s killings, before the end arrives?


Raelin the Keen, Raelin the Brave… Raelin the Unyielding. Once a beacon of light in Jandar’s army, the ominous amulet about her neck now signals a new, sinister master of her mind and heart.

But all may not be lost. The will-bending magic of Kee-Mo-Shi has been beaten before. As Raelin defies the amulet’s influence from within, her allies work tirelessly from without to rid the world of the necklace’s power once and for all.


The Soulborgs of Alpha Prime are perceived by many to be unfeeling, unthinking, obedient followers. This could not be further from the truth. Though their emotions are alien, each Soulborg is as unique as any creature of flesh, and they carry out their internal directives with extreme prejudice.

Even Vydar has made the critical error of assuming subservience. EJ-1M was a good soldier on Alpha Prime. He fought, he killed, and he enjoyed the accumulation of power that comes with rising through the ranks. But when an assassin found his way into the base, EJ was saved from the moment of his own death by Vydar’s summons… only to be brought face-to-face with SI-4X, the very assassin who nearly killed him. Vydar saw no issue with assigning these accumulated soldiers to serve together. EJ-1M saw otherwise.

EJ-1M bided his time, planted a bomb, and escaped Vydar’s lands. He has since found a new organization’s hierarchy to climb; one better-suited to offering him the chance for an eventual rematch with SI-4X, and the great personal glory of that mission’s completion.


On the winter-blasted arctic reaches of their home world, Noxdorma, the Frostclaws endured endless attempts by the neighboring Gnarlfur Clan to conquer their land and subjugate their people. The day their defenses finally shattered, the Frostclaw Paladins chose to go down fighting alongside the champions and heroes of their people. In that moment of certain death, the eye of Jandar fell upon them, and their eyes opened not to defeat– but to a new life, on Valhalla.

Layered with thick steel and armed with the iron will to survive, the Frostclaw Paladins employ the tactics of their homeland with efficiency and valor. Stand together. Repel all invaders. And when the time is right: CHARGE!


Each member of the Exiles of the Sundered Sea was a scoundrel on their own world. The new lease on life afforded to them by their summons to Valhalla has done nothing to change their minds. After deserting the equally self-centered Utgar’s army, they formed an alliance dedicated to one thing and one thing only: themselves.


The Knaves of the Silver Scimitar each come from a society strict in its own ways - a designated role for each of them to play under mightier commanders. Plucked from the brink of death by the Valkyrie General Revna, they expected to be subject to a new and equally strict command, but were given only one: be free.

This freedom has extended far. United by the gleaming silver blades Revna has gifted them, they sail alongside any others willing to choose freedom over service. Whether it was kindness or trickery, the Knaves care not; when the final battle for Valhalla comes, they will repay their debt to Revna.

Aquilla’s Wellspring-born power has allowed her to summon fantastic magical beings from across time and space to her side. The ferocious Ewashia is one such warrior, who hails from the Dryan world of Arboreas. To her great pleasure, the waters of Valhalla respond to her magic just as those of her homeworld once did.

Until recently, no-one was aware Aquilla had such accomplished wizards at her beck and call. Ewashia and her fellows have kept to themselves, studying quietly in the heart of the Moon Tribe’s mountains. But the time has come to reveal their true power. And Ewashia has been quietly eager to try her newest spells in real combat.


It is said that upon her arrival, Ewashia petitioned Aquilla directly to summon the faithful Kita as well. This shy springrunner is easily frightened, and often employs her uncanny stealth to slip away from well-meaning wizards. Nevertheless, loyal Kita will stay with Ewashia and Onshu to the end. If the situation calls for it, she will give her all to save her friends.


Moved by her love of her own loyal companion, Sujoah, Aquilla often summons beasts to befriend her wizards and help them feel more at home on Valhalla. Onshu is one such summon. As a welkineye he understands little of what has happened to him, but his high-spirited and wild nature makes him beloved by many in Aquilla’s lands.


Killian is a simple man. He likes simple things, like excellent hats, and the smell of gunpowder, and lovely sunrises. He likes these things best when he is at home, on Earth, sitting on the deck of his very own pirate ship.

Killian does NOT care for being drafted into an eternal war on a distant world, where the sunrise is a little too green, and the gunpowder smells a little sour, and he can’t find a suitable new feather for his hat on any of the strange beasts that live here. And he intends to make his grievances known.


Behind her mask, Fia silently wonders how long it will take the Valkyrie to realize they are not the only ones who can reach between worlds.


Marro, like any sentient species, have varied cultures. Some revel in a cruel caste system, engineering their own kin from birth to be servants and workers. But others are more egalitarian. To them, the hive is a source of comfort, and a way to feel belonging with their fellows in a harsh world.

When the sinister Valkyrie General Utgar summoned Marro indiscriminately to serve him, some were inevitably from different hives. Thus, Bok-Bur-Na has been separated from his kin. He misses them terribly. And he will do anything to make Utgar, and all the Valkyrie, pay dearly for the emptiness he now feels in his soul.

Drake Alexander has always been a man of principle. On Earth, he fought to defend the rights and liberties of his fellow humans from the encroaching Reich. During a fateful battle, moments before his certain death, the Valkyrie Jandar intervened. Drake’s noble heart now beats in the strange and distant land of Valhalla.

Jandar promised Drake that if he fought against the vile Utgar, he would one day be returned to his homeland. As have so many before him, Drake agreed; and though time and countless battles have since passed, Drake is no closer to seeing Jandar’s promise fulfilled. Through it all, one of his closest friends remains the Kyrie Raelin. She may appear now to have joined the enemy, but Drake knows better, and he remains at the ready to aid her however he can.

Einar is one of Valhalla’s first Valkyrie Generals. He is known above all for his stoic enforcement of discipline. His army is more coordinated than Vydar’s Soulborgs, more loyal than Jandar’s stalwart knights, and more efficient than Aquilla’s wizards.

Shiori, by contrast, is none of these things. Einar’s summons plucked her from her home in Earth’s feudal Japan when she was barely in her teens, and she has been belligerently operating outside of his maxims ever since. Now a warrior grown, Shiori has spent her time in the mystical Valhalla honing her craft, and can blend Earth-style martial arts seamlessly with magic.

Einar may not approve of Shiori’s methods, but after her success in the Marro swamp, he knows his fate and hers are intertwined. And Shiori, though she could care less about Einar himself, will not fail those friends she does hold dear in this rising age of destruction.

So we decided to go all out and offer a premium painted version and an unpainted version. The Premium Painted Master Set has over one-thousand paint applications across 20 minis. There’s essentially two types of events at Gen Con. The Battle Box event is a low entry fee event that’s an entry level experience. Open to all players of course but set up for people who just learned to play. It uses a map created from the Battle Box and two players will play using the battle box figures.

The other events are premade. We are still working out exact point values and figure limit but we will have the maps for those events. Players can bring their armies. The maps will be able to be built from the three games we’re releasing at Gen Con but players will not need to bring their own terrain.

If players do not have Heroscape prior to Gen Con they will need to acquire some at Gen Con (preorder or purchased there) to play in the premade events. Players will need zero Heroscape to play in a Battle Box event.

There is ~15 Battle Box events and four premade events. One premade each day on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. The 20th Anniversary championship is the fourth premade event. It will be Saturday afternoon.

You can earn a shirt in one of the premade events prior to the championship, wear your shirt for the championship, and get in free. The championship is open to everyone though, without a shirt even. It’ll just have an entry fee with no shirt.

You can earn more than one shirt if you want. If you earn a shirt you aren’t required to play in the Championship event.

All events will give out Shiori. There will be prizes for undefeated players in all events. There will be random premium painted products given out in all events.

The winner of the Championship event will get a trophy and be the first player to earn a day one bye for the 2025 World Championship.

The Battle Box event is $10 entry. Players will not receive a Battle Box with their entry.

The details for the premade events will be released at a later time but they will allow classic figures.
