Love what you've done so far. Regarding Capture: Is the damage taken when a Sentinel is destroyed normal, or is it like the "leaving engagement swipe" and undefendable? Maximum number of figures that can be captured at once? Have you thought of different versions of Sentinels, with increasing point values? MK I 200 points MK III 300 points MKV 500 points Regarding movement: Does 3 move seem a bit slow for a figure this size? Regarding the common (11 def 1 life) vs. unique (7 def, 3 life), I'm planning on fielding a squad of 3, so I'm torn on which option to use. I'm leaning towards the unique def/life, as it seems to simulate what happens in the comics a little better. Not a fan of DW "Paper tiger" problem. Perhaps you can get around the problem by producing 3 matching named uniques, such as Sentinel MkI: Alpha Sentinel MkI: Beta Sentinel MkI: Delta Hope this helps, Cigarman |

Another thing that needs clearing up is the wording on "Multi Targeting". I'm not sure how that last line is meant to be interpreted ... are we meant to understand that if he's got two figures captured, he can only make ranged attacks? If that's right (if not, please clarify), I suggest this wording:

Also, should it be "he" and not "it"? C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

That was the intent. He can capture up to two figures, one in each hand. Once his hands are full he can't take swipes at adjacent figures. I like your rewording for that and I'll incorporate that.
The problem I see with making him a unique hero, even if I make 3 versions, is that you can't have multiples of the same kind. But I think the three power levels are still possible even as a common hero. Perhaps the 1 Life can be balanced by giving him (it?) some automatic shields when defending? Once he's destroyed, the damage was intended to be just like a disengagement swipe. I figured it was to account for the Sentinel blowing up and/or falling over. Anyone have a better idea as to how to handle that? |

How about ...

On another note - I like them as common heroes (they don't really make sense to me as much without this stipulation). You obviously want to be able to field several of these - and do we really want to get into having to mod figures in order to show the difference between them? Also, the one life (glassjaw) and 3 move are important for another reason. A figure with 6 range and 6 attack and flying and the ability to put a couple players out of play for turns at a time with Capture, plus Huge size making them immune to a number of special abilities ... well, without the move and life restrictions, 200 points would be waaaay too low for them! That said, I wouldn't mind seeing Sentinels of various levels of strength. You can clear up a lot of room on your card for abilities like "tough" by going with the flying icon. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Updates to the Sentinels. Added some more protection via Tough and similar abilities. Changed out the picture. Finally gave in and used the flying symbol (it's just too cool! ). Created 2 versions for Mark I and Mark II.

I still think the wording in that final line of Multi-Targeting is going to be a bit confusing to people who can't ask you for interpretation.
I like them, but I'm not sure if the special defenses will make them too hard to kill for their points or not (it'd take playtesting on that one). They look really cool and really fun to play in scenarios, though. Makes me wish I had some Sentinel figures ... C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Are there some sort of design guidlines that spell this out? From what I remember from the comics, it took a lot of cumulative damage to take them out, rather than one lucky shot. That's why 3 life 7 defense might simulate the comics a little better than 1 life 11 defense. Perhaps both versions could be tested and see which method works best? Otherwise, amazing stuff. Thanks for filling my special request. Cigarman |

Someone also metnioned the movement of 3 being too slow. According to their specs, Sentinels are faster than that. But the way they're portrayed in the comics, they're slower than other heroes who manage to fly/run circles around them. I wanted to duplicate that aspect of it. |

I think with range and flying, they'll be plenty mobile, even with a move of 3. And like I said earlier, the glassjaw and 3 move are what's keeping them under 300 points apiece right now.
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

So what about the difference between Mark I and Mark II? Should there be a greater difference? Does the "Armored Skin" seem like it would offer more protection than "Tough"? I'm debating whether to up those to two (add 2 automatic shields for Mark I, ignore 2 points of damage for Mark II). Or the other option is to have Mark II add 1 automatic shield and ignore 1 point of damage.

I'd say keep this as they are and move to the playtesting segment of the design process. That's the only real way to get an idea of if they're living up to their point differential.
I'm ok with them not being too terribly different in design, as they're all Sentinels. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.
