Says Unique in the OP, but you play 2 in all your playtests so I assume it's gonna be Uncommon, can we update the OP and add the rarity to the SP?

C3G STANDARD PLAYTEST FEEDBACK FORM

NAME OF THE PLAYTEST UNIT: Cyber Thingy

Version tested:
Spoiler Alert!

Army Test
Map: Ivy's Greenhouse
Units: 2x Conversion Unit (160), Cybermen x3, Iron Patriot, Human Robot (1000) VS Classic X-Men (1000)
Spoiler Alert!

___________________________________________________________

Army Test
Map: Ivy's Greenhouse
Units: Cyber Conversion Unit x2 (160), Cybermen x3 and Civilians x4 (700) VS Captain America, Bucky, Sub-Mariner, Human Torch (Not Fan 4 one) (700)
Spoiler Alert!

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: This felt fine at 80 points, I think with the Civilians you can reasonably expect to get 2 back per Cyber Thingy over the course of the game, but you're also losing your own figures at that points and you have drafted 160 points of Objects that don't count towards your victory conditions even if they can wound figures slowly. Felt very thematic for the Cybermen though, really liked them in that regard.

Re: The Book of Cyber-Conversion Unit (Public Playtesting)

Thanks! Looking solid. It makes me happy to see that they can still pull off a win without the Civilians and still lose with them. I like that combo, but I’m also hoping they’re not absolutely tied to it.

I guess should it be figure or Army Card? Go you roll after each individual Cyberman or after the whole squad?

Re: The Book of Cyber-Conversion Unit (Public Playtesting)

C3G STANDARD PLAYTEST FEEDBACK FORM

NAME OF THE PLAYTEST UNIT: Cyber Conversion Unit

Army Test
Summary: Was planning on swarming with the Cybermen, then using Fastball as some autowounds, while having Colossos as a heavy hitter backup. The Vigilantes tore through the Cybermen really quick, and couldn’t hurt Colossus so he ended up winning. Terry was captured and converted, but even then I know I could have avoided it if I planned better. Just wasn’t too concerned because Bruce’s Batarangs were way more useful than Terry.
Map: Custom
Units: Cyber-Unit, Cybermen x3, Colossus (700)

Vs.

Batman I, Robin (Tim), Nite Owl, Robin (Dick), Batman (Terry) (700)

Spoiler Alert!

___________________________________________________________

Army Test
Summary: Was hoping that Patriot and Nebula would help them shine, but Patriot died right away and Nebula was locked down by Jean half the game. Maybe if those didn't happen it would have swung a bit the other way, but this was such a steamroll I'm not sure it would have.
Map: Custom
Units: Cyber Unit, Cybermen x3, Iron Patriot, Nebula, Venom Pigeon (1000)

Vs.

X-Men

Spoiler Alert!

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY:
I honestly probably wouldn’t draft it. I’d rather have something like Howard the Duck along for cheaper points. The biggest issues are the Cybermen have a difficult time getting close to people already, and that by the time you finally catch up to someone, capture them, AND convert them, all your cybermen are dead and you don’t want to put an OM on them with only 1 or 2 to take a turn with.

GENERAL THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT:
The concept is incredibly cool, and it’s VERY satisfying both times I captured someone with it. It just didn’t really seem to impact the games at all however.

Re: The Book of Cyber-Conversion Unit (Public Playtesting)

Thanks LP!

Hmmm...honestly sounds like the Units themselves worked fine for you (Capturing Terry or Beast isn't a bad ROI for 80 points, even if Hank didn't get finished off.), it's just the Cybermen themselves who were failing.

They definitely have a hard time gaining ground (especially without IP), but I'm hoping that's something that can be fixed through further additions to the faction. The 4 Move is pretty thematic so it probably needs to stay.

Re: The Book of Cyber-Conversion Unit (Public Playtesting)

Okay, I've let this sit for a little bit to think on things and give our new public tester time to provide results, but it's been a few days. How do we feel about cost? LP felt like it wasn't a good investment overall. Does it seem reasonable to push all the way to 60 points, or would we prefer to stay at 80?

Re: The Book of Cyber-Conversion Unit (Public Playtesting)

Keep in mind I didn't play with Civilians. If they're required for it, then it could be fine.

Also most of the issues were on the Cybermen themselves. Without the Conversion unit, it's a cool bonus to get the Cybermen adjacent to use their OM removal. Without it they're still a super sturdy common squad. With the unit, you HAVE to get Cybermen adjacent otherwise you're just down the points of the Conversion unit. It puts a lot of pressure on the Cybermen to mobilize perfectly, which is something they're just not good at doing.

Dropping the unit's points always helps, but it doesn't solve the underlying problem. If you have another design cooked up that would make them faster, then that problem will be fixed too!

Re: The Book of Cyber-Conversion Unit (Public Playtesting)

I mean thematically they shouldn't be faster but swarmier. Their speed feels accurate.
