What can be done and how can it be done? I don't know if I'll be able to be of much assistance because I have never done it before but I'm willing to try cleaning up the files if someone can share how it's done. I just don't want this part of the C3V project slowing down because 3D printing these minis is going to be how we keep them accessible in the future. Getting them all scanned for printing is important.

I will admit my bias though because I just bought my first printer so I am excitedly joining the 3D printing space with the Anycubic Photon Mono.
First, I just posted the Marro Gnids to Thingiverse.

Marro Gnids

Second, many of the models I posted in those google drive links are from figures I actually own--I plan to try one more time to get better detailed scans (using tempura paint). It seemed to work really well on my last bunch of scans.

Third, Leaf_It plans to send me more figures to scan, so I'd prefer to wait and get better detailed ones.

Having said all that, if you see a figure you'd like and the model looks good enough, let me know and I'll make it a high priority to clean and post.
Ok I went through these two links to get together what files I needed with the highest priorities in bold.
Here they are:
  • 8th Infantry Pathfinder
  • Cathar Spearmen
  • Command Courier
  • Count Raymond
  • Elaria the Pale
  • Elian Sidhe
  • Gorilla Troopers
  • Jonah Hex
  • Martial La Hire
  • Myrddin
  • Preyblood Thrall
  • Van Nessing
  • Zettian Deathwings

I really will help though if I know how. I don't want to feel like I'm asking more of you and not helping or contributing in some way. I'd feel like a jerk getting you to do something for me you wouldn't have needed to do otherwise. Is there a specific way you produce scans? Maybe I can make scans and send them in. I have figures that haven't been scanned yet like Kira Jax, the M-43s, Zaeus, Motley Max, most of the figures used from the Heroclix Indy set, Boreos, Marutuk, ect. I don't really want to send my minis anywhere but I can take photos and put them into a software if that is how it works.

EDIT: Also when I put many of the files in this thread onto the build plate in Photon Workshop software the scale was TINY. the miniature was literally 3.42mm tall on the Skeletons of Annellintia. Why is this happening? How tall should they be?
First, about the scale: My models are in inches, so you need to scale them by 25.4 (2540%) to convert the inches to mm.

Second, 3DF Zephyr, the photogrammetry program I use, just came out with an update, and it seems like I'm getting better scans with the new settings.

Out of your list, I can get decent scans of:

  • 8th Infantry Pathfinder
  • Cathar Spearmen
  • Command Courier
  • Count Raymond
  • Elaria the Pale
  • Elian Sidhe
  • Gorilla Troopers
  • Jonah Hex
  • Martial La Hire
  • Myrddin
  • Preyblood Thrall
  • Van Nessing
  • Zettian Deathwings
I will post the new models soon, and make a quick tutorial I use to clean them up for printing. Give me a few days to do that.

Re: C3V/SoV 3D Printable Proxies

How big is Hoplitron supposed to be? I want to print him but his file seems too tall, I saw in his book he is supposed to be on a 40mm/DW9K base but no pictures of him are in the book. Can someone fill me in on his real size?

If you are looking for them, Kon-Tar-Na, Varja, the Incendiborgs, and Kursus are already on thingiverse.

Proxies, but not scans.

Re: C3V/SoV 3D Printable Proxies

That is absolutely true but honestly I found that those proxies were so good you couldn't really tell the difference unless you'd has the real deal sitting next to them. We need real scans either way but they'll do for the time being.

One thing I ran into so far is that some of the proxies made for C3V had parts too thin to print properly. I am wondering if that is a product of me not setting my setting correctly or if the resin I'm using just doesn't set strong enough for bits that thin.

So far the Havech Eradicators haven't printed because their blades are too thin and there's a thin shell around the big gun that was paper thin.

The Honor Guard of the Blasted Land's helmets were too thin for my printer, they just flaked off like paper that had gotten brittle.

The Red Mantis Blade Dancers were beautiful but their blades were so thin the supports snapped them as I carefully removed them. Then the remaining swords just came off in my hand.

I'm using Perusa Slicer to add my supports and then slicing with the Photon Workshop's standard settings. Should I be doing something differently? The resin is just regular Anycubic resin. I'm generating 70% standard supports right now.

Re: C3V/SoV 3D Printable Proxies

Those are my creations but you'd have to ask someone who printed them in resin though as I have not. On my FDM printer they all print solid, perhaps for resin they are too thin to slice properly.

I agree that some of the proxies are very worthy for the meantime. Perhaps there should be separate threads though at this point for proxies and the actual figures since things are starting to get mixed up.

I experienced the issue with thin parts on my ender 3 trying to print the acolytes of vorganund, though my fdm miniature printing skills are lacking. So far with resin prints, they have come out flawless. I use chitubox, smaller supports on figures with smaller islands, and check the angle of each figure when slicing to make sure most of the figure is extending at around a 110 degree angle.

Are your exposure time settings set to your model of printer?
Do you clean the resin vat of excess partially cured resin after each print?

To take off supports, after dunking in ipa, I use a gradual back and forth twist motion holding the model with one hand and the support base with the other. And for really fragile support contact spots, pinching them off to remove them beforehand.

Re: C3V/SoV 3D Printable Proxies

My exposure time is 2 seconds and my layers are 0.05mm. I honestly haven't messed with the supports properties, I've just used the standard ones in PerusaSlicer. I only use Perusa for the automatic supports on reccomendation from a YouTube channel I subbed to. If Chitubox is better I may switch to it.

I just uploaded my scanned Havech Eradicators. I couldn't get the proxies to print either, so I scanned my figures instead.

Re: C3V/SoV 3D Printable Proxies

I'm trying enlarging the prints a bit, not enough that they are oversized but hopefully enought that their thin parts aren't so flimsy. So far they are better but still pretty weak. I'm hoping with layers of paint that they'll hold up to being handled.

Outside of that I wanted to ask, is there any possibility of the Buccaneers of Tortuga, the Cathar Spearmen, or the Microcorp Troopers being scanned? They seem to be the hardest to aquire squads that have yet to be scanned.
