I believe that in the past when there have been water/fire/magic blasts that have obscured the view of the model that the art person would make the red target still visible so that it's not believed that the obstruction actually blocks the targeting of the shot. Grey is supposed to be for those sections that can't be targeted (like horns or wings on a helmet) or that block attacks (like shields).

We aren't perfectly consistent, but general we do remove the water effect on the hit-box; Aqualad has the water on there, but the rest of the Atlanteans have it removed.

Just noticed we used the name echolocation here which kinda sucks for the possibility of doing a flock of bats at some point as echolocation is really their main gig but this power is specifically dolphinised so it's not really reusable there.

In practice don't bats just use it to navigate? They probably don't need a special power for that. I always assumed if we did bats they'd just be Rat Swarms but with flying.

I suppose that's a pretty fair assessment. Not sure I'd really want another Plague creature, but it does make sense.

Could always call it "Bat Echolocation". It'd be funny to give a flock of bats the Blind Warrior power but I'm not sure how scientifically accurate that is.

I have thought it'd be cool to use the flock of bats heroclix for some Batman-related power. Maybe a utility glyph to summon them.
