Hex mats

Does Chessex or anyone else make hex mats that are compatible with HS?

Particularly, large blue mats.

Thanks,
Carl

But I think the largest hexes they make are about 1/4" smaller than the hex tiles...

Wow, what timing!

So I had the idea of a scenario that featured a number of small islands spread out across the table. The islands are inhabited by Vipers (the bulk of Player 1's army) and Player 2 needs to conquer (sp?) and hold more islands than Player 1 before the end of a predetermined Round.

Not having enough water tiles to fill my table, I made a 60" x 36" water tile play mat. Just today, as a matter of fact.

The tiles are 100% to scale and spaced perfectly with no distortion. The color isn't too far off either. (Might just be my printer.) I've submitted my PDF file to the downloads section, but you can also grab it here:

"watermat_36x60.pdf"

Luckily I have access to a large-format printer at work. Assuming most people would use Kinko's or a local sign printer to get these printed on durable, water-proof material--Chicagoland area will cost around $160--will be too costly for most but the hardcore gamers.

Regardless, it's there for the taking.

Thanks for the positive feedback.

Yes, I currently have access to a large format printer, but it's only a demo unit we have until the 27th of November. While it can print over 40" wide, we only have a 15" roll of paper to use. If we keep the printer (and buy the correct size paper) I will DEFINATELY look into making these available to the community.

In the meantime I called a few local print shops to see what it would cost to have then print me out a mat and got the price listed in the above post. Keep in mind that this price is for the most expensive and durable material they would print on. If you sacrifice on the type of paper used, I'm sure the price would come down.

For people building their own HeroScape table, this would be cool to get printed cheap, adhere it to your table, and then apply some kind of protective finish over it. THAT would be a cool table!

(If someone does try that, check with your printer first, since most large-format printers are dye-based on paper and using a liquid coating could ruin the mat.)

Teekay, that is an exceptional mat! Great use of a demo printer too.

I would definately buy one. I can pick up some plexi and mount the paper version to the underside.

Take your time, I'm not in any hurry.

Think It would be possible for someone to make these to fit on an 8x11 sheet of paper so that we normal printer people could print out sheets and tape them together on the back side to make our own custom lakes?

Excellent matt btw teekay!
