Cleon's Unit Tier List (Update: 11/26/18)

Swarm Rae has never been a figure I've been very happy was in the army. Her aura is best for anything that wants to spread out like drones or zombies. She is really hurt by costing more than original Raelin (so she can't even be a discount like RotV Drake) and not doing anything substantial enough to compensate for that (like how Q10 gives some interesting versatility compared to Q9). She'll always be in the shadow and really only brought out if you want to weaken the army. She's not awful, but she's never not going to be compared and that hurts her so much.

Zombies are good with her. I agree, pretty much any melee squad that spreads out a lot I think is where Raelin SotM shines. Knights work well with her too. I've never played Axegrinders with her, but I assume it's fine. If only she was disciplined you could run her with Sacred Band......poor Sacred Band. Blades probably work, as you def have the points for her with them, and they can spread out a bit more than heavies. Raelin SotM+Bladesx4+Grimnak+Tornak seems pretty good (and there's always Nerak+MW for the last 100).

I plan on writing a whole thing on Raelin SotM. I've discussed with a few people already what my thoughts are on her, but basically my analysis is that at 120, not only is she not as good as RotV Raelin, but she's straight up an actively bad army building decision. If their points were swapped, RotV Rae is still an A+, while SotM Rae would move up to around a B+.

I think original Rae might be just an A figure with that shift, but we already disagree on her ranking comparatively. Completely agree on Swarm Rae at 80. I still think Swarm Rae works well in something like Take 2, RtW, or a similar format, but any format where you're bringing an army and fighting your opponent and you choose swarm Rae when you could choose original is a suboptimal decision.

I wouldn't go as far to say she's a bad option for every army, just not nearly as good as the original...

I know a guy that played her with Sacred Band. Technically that army won the Main Event as well.
