Re: The Book of Parmenio
So, it's not exactly news that Parmenio is a lackluster unit, even with his squad in tow. I can say, however, that he's not a bad unit to throw into a warlord/soldier army that utilizes the Legos (and what warlord/soldier army doesn't?). Sure, there are better options (including NGS, for the same cost), but I've been experimenting with variations of lego armies in the General Wars format, and I've found that Parmenio is effective as an early bonding option for the romans. After all, any time you get to take a free turn with a hero, that's a good thing, right? Send Parm out with the first wave or two of legos, and just keep fighting until he's gone. Worst case scenario: he keeps your opponent busy for a couple of rounds, while MDG is safe, sound, and a helluva cheerleader.

Re: The Book of Parmenio
Parmenio has a lot of potential to be in intentionally bad armies, especially with the new Death Knights.
What's better than making your Taelord or Sir Hawthorne disciplined and then not being able to use Unholy Bonding with them? Parmenio's a class act. Handle origin: I used to film comedy skits with my friends. I didn't want any cursing in them, so I made up new insults, like "dendrik". Then Sir Denrick came out, and the rest is history. |

Re: The Book of Parmenio
I just got these guys (Parmenio,Valguard,SB, etc.) and I think that they are actually really good IF and only IF they are used correctly. Firstoff I just start base with:
400pts. Parmenio 90 SacredBand 140 Marcus 240 Rom. Legos 290 AE/Protectors of Ullar (basically just get range!!!!) Send out range to kill off the stronger heroes (why i like protectors of Ullar here) then the sacred band w/Marcus and romans go clean up the leftovers. On another note why does everyone think the romans are so much better than these guys? there are just SO MANY heroes that can slaughter an army of bunched up romans *cough* Zelrig *cough* |

Quote:
Having said that, I think your army looks like it would be fun to play. I do wonder why you use a squad of Romans instead of a second squad of Sacred Band. At any rate, I'm glad you're enjoying playing with one of the lesser-seen sets of units. ~Aldin, it's all Greek to me He either fears his fate too much or his desserts are small That dares not put it to the touch to gain or lose it all ~James Graham |

Re: The Book of Parmenio
Well I only have one of everything so it limits my army, but yes i do agree about adding a sacred band over a Rom. Legos.

Re: The Book of Parmenio
I do like that army, and Braxas' has the breath so that would be a strong range.

Re: The Book of Parmenio
Also, don't forget about Unique Squads; Parmenio can help them too. Here's a few ideas:
SB x4 200 Marcus (almost a necessity) 300 Parmenio 390 Nakita Agents 510 SB x4 Marcus Parmenio Marro Warriors Isamu 450 |

Re: The Book of Parmenio
I admit it: For ten points more, Marcus is a better leader for the Sacred Band than Parmenio, primarily for the +1 move he bestows upon them. A melee squad with only 4 move can really have a really frustrating time trying to close with the enemy while getting clobbered by range. 5 move is also nice when you want to get first strike on slow moving units like the Knights of Weston.
I do like underdogs though, and Parmenio's sculpt is just too cool. Some of my favorite Sacred Band armies... Parmenio Sacred Band x2 Airborne Elite Kaemon Awa James Murphy 495 pts Parmenio Sacred Band x2 Krav Maga Airborne Elite Kozuke Samurai 500 pts Parmenio Sacred Band x2 Q10 10th Reg. x2 Isamu 500 pts With slow melee units like the Sacred Band, you need long rangers like the Krav, Airborne Elite, and Q10 to draw the enemy in, then tie the enemy up and hack at them for a couple of turns with Parmenio and the Sacred Band before switching back to your ranged units and blasting away. With two squads of SB, Parmenio's Defy Death ability will probably save at least a couple of figures, which will help them survive as meat shields as your powerful ranged units do most of the work. |

Re: The Book of Parmenio
It's not listed in the FAQs so I thought I'd ask and see if anyone could clarify? If Parmenio is Mind Shackled, do the effects of his Disciplined Influence remain intact?
If, for instance, I control Parmenio at the beginning of the game and change Q9's personality to disciplined, then Ne-Gok-Sa Mind Shackles Parmenio, is Q9's personality still disciplined at that point? C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of Parmenio
Parmenio's card states that the change to another Unique is for ".. this game" - so even if you lose control of Parmenio or he is destroyed, the figure that you chose at the start of the game stays Disciplined.
