AT-43
I know that this is a Rackham game, which are usually way expensive, but I don't see anyway I can pass this one up.
Has anybody else read about this game? http://www.rackham.fr/ There are a few pictures in the "Cool Figures from other games" thread, but after combing their boards( I've already registered) , I've gotta say, I'm very curious about this. I love the "Universe". They're pre-painted, and roughly 28-30mm. Sounds like a simple combat rule-set. There are a couple Mechs, or "Fire-Toads", I'm curious how those will work in the game. Could this lead to vehicles in HS? I could be moving into "dangerous water", but I'm definately planning on buying the starter box. EDIT: It seems Rackham's "Main" site is updated just a hair more then Hasbros. While the Homepage has some cool visuals this is where I found the most info. http://en-forum.confrontation.fr/viewforum.php?f=43 Note that most people here *gasps* "go a couple of days without posting at a time." |

I have looked AT-43 over as well. If you break it down - compared to Games Workshop - it isn't that expensive. Compared to HS it is...
The figures are beautiful and I might be tempted to buy a squad or hero if the have them at the FLGS, but I'm in on the Starship Troopers squads for HS customs for sure. Looks interesting and the prepainted concept is a definite plus. I saw the picture of the UNA Multilaser trooper on the forums, but I'm having a hard time believing that paintjob is indicative of what we can expect when they are massed produced. I know Rackham puts out high quality stuff, but can the general release paintjobs even come close to that mini? If so, look out pocketbook.

Rackham seems to be know for it's quality, but is also competing with it's own fan base a bit. Most of the complaints I've read come from expert miniature painters. I'd rather play than paint. |

It is pricey compared to Heroscape msrp expected to be $80. Most places offer a discount if you preorder so it can be had in the $65 range, but I'm afraid I have used up my fall games budget on castles/wave5 and Battlelore.
I kind of wish I'd seen At-43 before I preordered Battlelore but what can you do. |

Something else I just found out.
There is like a D/FW sized crew up here that is playing Rackham games, some of the first demos in the Country are going to be up here. |
