Here's a link to a page at Deep Cut Studios where they say that they can put grids and other graphics on mats for people. They can even make a mat with an image you supply.

Looks like contacting a local sign printing company might be a good idea too. I'll have to check into it when I have some spending money.

That is a genius idea! Seems like that would easy to do if you had a 'blank hex' file large enough. I am sure some place like Office Max could print it up.
Printing it up on something that is durable and will withstand play and storage is the hard part.

Uncertain on the durability. I imagine they must have something.

Maybe I will try a test sheet with the 8.5x11 blank hex file.
Maybe they could tile that 8.5x11 file onto a larger area for you.
Could there be something printed and then somehow stuck onto plexiglass? So then you could have the plexiglass already cut to smaller manageable sizes for storage and transportation, as well as being pretty durable.

Edit: actually, you can buy hex grid stencils that you can spray paint with. Not sure if it would work on plexiglass.

I read somewhere on BGG about trying acetate. It's a thin plastic.

Re: Frostgrave, Halo Ground Command and other tabletop minis

I created a solo scenerio this morning for The Walking Dead All Out War, using a house I have.

Donna had gotten trapped in a bedroom on 2nd floor of the house. Her husband Allen, convinced Rick and Carl to help rescue her.

150 points game, 10 walkers. 7 outside, 1 on 1st floor and 2 on 2nd floor. 3 cars each with supply token. 1 supply token in front room of 2nd floor with door closed. Opening doors does not take an action unless it is locked, then a Smash action is needed. Before opening any door, roll the 50/50 die. On a shield it is not locked. You can continue a move if the door isn't locked, but not if you run. If you run inside the house, the only walkers affected by the noise would be the closest one inside the house. However, anything causing Mayhem inside the house also affects any walkers outside, as long as they are in range.

Donna won't come out and fight. She needs another survivor to get in base contact with door to her room for her to open door.
Need to get Donna off the board to win.

Rick runs to lure in a near walker and then killed it in melee. Carl and Allen both sneak. 2 walkers enter the board from event. Threat up to 5 after end of turn solo advanced.

Allen sneaks to red car to search and finds a lurker. Takes 1 wound and threat moved to 6. Rick uses Stay Calm to reduce threat by 2, to 4, then sneaks. Carl holds nerve to reduce threat by 1 to 3 and then sneaks. The event is Alarm and causes Mayhem from the light blue car.

Rick sneaks and uses Stay Calm to reduce threat by 2, to 3. Carl sneaks and Holds Nerve again to reduce threat by 1 to 2. Allen sneaks and Holds Nerve to reduce threat by 1, to 1. Mayhem from blue car brings 2 more walkers to it that were stuck behind a tree the last time. The Herd event allows more walkers to be cleared from front door of house.

Rick sneaks onto porch and uses Stay Calm to reduce threat by 1, to 2. Carl fails Hold Nerve and sneaks near porch. Allen sneaks to dark blue car and searches to find a Molotov. Car alarm still keeping walkers at car and raising threat. Walkers in house will move around to get to noise so that 2 walkers are on 1st floor and 1 is on stairs. Kill Zone brings 1 walker to front door because Rick is in Kill Zone, but stops because door is closed.
Rick sneaks and finds front door unlocked. Opens and waits and Stay Calm to reduce threat by 2, to 2. Carl sneaks behind Rick and fails Hold Nerve. Allen sneaks behind Carl and Holds Nerve to reduce threat by 1 to 1. Mayhem kind of rearranges walkers in house, based on moving walkers. 2 close to window and the one that was at windows before now moves shortest distance to get to source and engages Rick at the front door. Frayed Nerves only raises threat to 3. Rick knocks down walker at front door. It stays prone in end phase.

Rick uses Stay Calm to reduce threat by 1 to 3, and then moves into house and engages closest standing walker. Carl sneaks to front door and Holds Nerve to reduce threat by 1 to 3. Allen sneaks behind Carl and fails Holds Nerve. Alarm doesn't affect walkers. Rick already engaged and other near walker can't fit to reach Rick too. Roamers event allows eligible walker to be moved, so one in house not prone or engaged with Rick moves to back room. Melee has apron walker miss Rick. Rick knocks it prone. Neither prone walkers stand during end phase.

Rick uses Stay Calm to reduce threat by 2, to 4 and then moves into base contact with walker in back room, after stepping over apron walker on floor. Carl fails Hold Nerve and moves to engage prone apron walker. Allen fails to Hold Nerve and moves to engage prone punk rock walker on stairs. Feeding Frenzy event has each survivor engaged in melee with a walker roll black die to see if they lose a health point. Rick is fine, Carl is fine and Allen is fine. During melee, Rick attacks blonde guts eating walker and they both miss, but walker is pushed back. Carl buries his shovel into the head of the prone apron walker. Allen smashes the head of the prone punk rock walker on stairs.

Rick uses Stay Calm to reduce threat by 2 , to 4, then sneaks into front room. Allen runs up stairs and into base contact with door that Donna is behind, bringing blonde gut eating walker into base contact with Rick. He falls hold nerve. Donna can now activate and opens door. Carl fails Hold Nerve and stays close to Rick. Too Quiet event raises threat by 2. Rick fights blonde guts eating walker and buries his hatchet in its face.

Allen and Donna run down the stairs and both Hold Nerve and reduce threat by 1 each to 5. Rick sneaks onto front porch and uses Stay Calm to reduce threat by 2, to 3. Carl succeeds with Hold Nerve and reduces threat to 2. Mayhem from car alarm only raises threat to 4. Won't Stay Down event just adds 1 to threat, to 5. End of round solo brings threat to 6.

Rick sneaks and uses Stay Calm to reduce threat by 3, to 3. Carl, Allen and Donna follow by sneaking and trying to Hold Nerve, only Donna succeeds to bring it to 2. Car alarm brings threat up to 3 and the Romers event allows the movement of a walker. +1 threat at end of round to 4.
Rick sneaks and uses Stay Calm to reduce threat by 2, to 2. Carl sneaks and Holds Nerve to reduce threat by 1 to 1. Allen and Donna sneak as well. There's A Storm Comin' event raises threat by 1 to 3, but it stays in All Quiet to keep from having to raise the threat again and drawing 2 more event cards.

Rick sneaks and uses Stay Calm to reduce threat by 2, to 2. Carl and Allen sneak and failed Hold Nerve. Donna runs and fails Hold Nerve and there are no walkers within 10 inches of her, so none move. Pandemonium event raises threat to 4 and allows you to move a walker and then another one enters play. No real effects at this point.
Rick and the others all run to the corner and no walkers within 10 inches. Stay Calm and Hold Nerve brings threat to 1. The Hunger adds 1 to threat and nothing else.

Survivors escape to win. Only Allen took 1 wound. Could have been a lot worse without the car alarm event, as well as none of the 3 melee survivors taking a wound from Feeding Frenzy. The Herd event helped clear the left side of the house to open things up. Also, with the front door happening to be unlocked, it helped to not have to make noise with a Smash action to break it open.

That looks really cool hahma. I finally saw the cars of correct scale at a walmart yesterday. Only 5 bucks each. Im finally going to get in a 4 or 5 player imperial assault game in tonight. It will be free for all and gridless. Im setting it up now. It will be epic.

Re: Frostgrave, Halo Ground Command and other tabletop minis

Thanks Trex! It was a blast to figure out and very cinematic too. It felt like a co-op game where things can go well for you and makes it easier, but you still have to make some good decisions. But this could also go the other way with bad events at certain times and Rick rolling worse for his Stay Calm ability that reduces threat. He rolls a blue die for that and I don't believe there are any misses, just 1-3 bursts. So he will always reduce it at least 1, but he was hitting mostly 2's each round. The others use the 50/50 die to try to Hold Nerve to reduce threat by 1 if successful. So having Rick there and rolling well with blue helped a lot, because as the threat goes up to certain points, it makes the event cards worse for you, and if the threat level gets past the level a character has, then they have to roll a special die to see if they get actions or what kind of bad thing they do because of panicking. So I can see potential for this scenario to be really challenging at times.

The scale of cars I have are 1:43 and are great. I haven't found any more lately like them, but I haven't really been looking all too hard. Next time I'm at Walmart or Target I'll look for some more. I want to have some more before I start damaging some up.

Hope your Imperial Assault goes well. Should be fun gridless.

A piece of terrain I threw together over the past 2 days, carved out of pink insulation foamboard. The top is big enough and flat enough to allow for various pieces of small scatter terrain to set atop it and offer more variety. Will use it for Frostgrave Ghost Archipelago, Star Wars Legion, The Drowned Earth and Halo Ground Command.
