For Static-Cling do we want it to be a movement power or a placement power? And we need a line about leaving engagement attacks in there.

You put 17 or lower in the Competitive Checklist, but 15 or lower in the power. I'm hoping it's meant to be 15 or lower (which even then might prove to be too much in playtesting).

Yes it was meant to be. As to the LEAs I don't know that it is needed as the default is to roll, but I'm really not sure if they should take them or not.

Well that'd be tacking on potential auto wounds to the other competitive advantages of movement, movement denial, and Order Marker removal.

So before we really get going - I'll make a more concerted pitch for Bang Baby as species here.

Just to give context - Static was not originally a DC character. He was created by Milestone Comics, an independent comic company in the early 90s (with semi-famous names like Dwayne McDuffie and Denys Cowan at the helm). DC held the publishing rights to Milestone comics, but the brand was independently owned and existed in its own universe. They had some crossovers with the mainstream DC line, but in general upheld the separation. Static first crossed over via the TV series (which was part of the larger DCAU), and between 2008 and 2012 DC integrated the Milestone characters into mainline DC continuity for the first time. (That's the period this Static is coming from.) Around 2012 DC ran into legal trouble with ownership of the characters and none of them have appeared in comics since, despite "Earth-M" being announced years ago as a relaunch.

More practical terms - Milestone's biggest characters, after Static, are Icon, Rocket, and Hardware. And after THEM is the only real "super team" in the universe, the Blood Syndicate. The Blood Syndicate is formed when, after a big gang war in the middle of the city of Dakota is interrupted with a massive chemical explosion (called "the Big Bang"), a handful of survivors wake up with superpowers. They decide to put aside their differences and form the Blood Syndicate (the rival gangs having been named the Paris Island Bloods and the Force Syndicate). They're called "bang babies," since they were born in the big bang; Static just so happened to be in the neighborhood at the time.

So, reasons we should deviate from Metahuman here:

- It gives a unique universe its own unique species, instead of piggybacking off of DC's.
- It creates a nice synergy tag for any future Blood Syndicate members (as unlikely as that may be).
- Even though this is a DC iteration of the character, it helps mark Static as different, in a nod to his origins.

I'm not yet sold on "Bang Baby" here. It just feels weird as a species to me... I'm not entirely closed to it, but I'm hesitant. I don't mind him being something other than Metahuman, but I'm not sure Bang Baby is the answer. Other thoughts?

Well, propose something. I could see it replacing Taser Strike if it's good enough.

I would just change the name of Taser Strike to Static Shock SA.

Three powers with Static in the title is a bit much. Maybe change Static Charge to Static Shock?

Bang Baby has a weird mouth feel. Metahuman seems more appropriate for the modern version of Static.

I think I'll just stick with Taser Strike for reusability. Always room for a Static Shock power on a non-Titan design...and johnny has convinced me to switch the species to Bang Baby.
