Wow. All I can do is be thankful that you're alive & pray that it stays that way.

Though numerous pronunciation attempts have been made, I have recently spurned my moniker. Feel free to refer to me as BowTieJones instead.

Re: The C3G Cave - Hangout

I was talking to a younger guy (25) in my game group tonight. When I first met him a couple years ago, he had a back brace on, and had it on for a very long time because he had his spine fused. He had been in an accident where a lady with crappy insurance blew through a stop sign and hit him.

That happened 3 years ago and he doesn't have his brace on, but is still in constant pain, even after taking enough pain meds to knock out a bull. Lucky to get a couple hours of sleep straight.

He's not sure about getting another fusion, as each time it puts more stress on the vertebrae above and below the fusion. He's also paying $4,000 a year out of pocket for meds.

He told me he's pretty much doing whatever in life he can, because he doesn't know how long he'll be able to do stuff.

Pretty sad that he's 25 and has been messed up for 3 years already and has such problems and a bleak outlook.

Besides me working at a hospital and seeing a lot of bad off people, this guy Matt reminds me to not take you health for granted, and that your life can change in a blink of an eye.

Yeah, do what you can while you can. You never know what is around the corner for you that might change the equation of what you can do.

I was rear ended in a hit an run 3 years ago and injured my back and neck (not too seriously) but today I still have issues. Of all the injuries I've had, I had never had a back injury prior to this. Back injuries are the worst. There are day when you can't do ANYTHING because of a slight twinge in your back...And I was lucky.

Would I want it to be everything I love...sure...but that's just not realistic so I'm going to focus on finding things that will make me unhappy and work on fixing those.

Do you think stand alone films will be what the masses want by the time fox marvel and Dc have expanded universe?

Re: The C3G Cave - Hangout

Just a quick update: I'm home now. Got away with heavy bruising and back spasms/strains. No spine issues, No internal bleeding, no organ issues. Gonna be off work about a week, but I'm pretty blessed. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers!

I think there is room for both. As long as the shared universe films are well done and interconnected in interesting and fun ways, they will remain popular with their target audience of comic book fans since comics books have been running stories in a shared universe for decades. Stand alone films also have their place though and won't be replaced. Sometimes you just want a story that starts and ends in one film, which is why sequels are often seen as unnecessary money grabs by the studios.

Glad to know you're okay, Spidey - just be careful not to twinge anything while Web-slinging.

Honestly, the idea of less doing straight-up sequels and instead having multiple stories sharing a world and fleshing it out intrigues me - it's not really something we've seen before Marvel, at least not in film, unless I'm missing something.

I don't know, I didn't think Harry Potter 7.2, Hunger Games 3.2 or Hobbit .2 and Hobbit .3 were money grabs, did you?

Re: The C3G Cave - Hangout

I'd love to see more action/comic movies that don't feel the need to try to turn into giant Marvel-style franchises, but unfortunately, that latter seems to be what every studio wants to do right now.

(Well, either that or remake movies like Star Wars or Jurassic Park or Independence Day and have the protagonists fight a bigger version of the villain.)

Cool! Glad to hear you're relatively unscathed.
