Fwiw, I don't think Beast Man is critical, more just a curiosity. Don't feel obligated to run him if you'd rather test with units you're more familiar with.

For sure. If y'all both run tests and it's determined that Beast Man tests are still needed, this guy is next on my to do list after Indigo-2 anyhow. And I obviously have Beast Man experience.
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Here ya go! He's super good. I thought boosted Beast Man bonding turns would be hard to beat, but Adding Cap in with Weapon X and Toxin was insane. Toxin's symbiosis was rolling super hot (With one time rolling 3, 8 dice attacks with boosts and height!). I summarize things below, but I think he needs some sort of restriction. As is stands he never wants to leave your start zone and all he does is make your team much better. The 2nd game I played his essentially at 150 points and he still stomped.

An aura restriction does seem overlooked here. Also, what if instead of boosting the number of attack dice rolled, he made the attacks more efficient/potent. Something like re-roll blanks when attacking, or count 1 blank as a skull, or something.

The win at 150 doesn't really spook me that much, since the enemy army looks like it has a lot less teeth than the Crime-Master one.
Really not into making him a front-liner at all. Wrong vibe. That said, I'm happy to either bring points up, or make some mechanical tweaks. First thought would be to let the attack boost only happen once a turn. Points would have to come down in that case, though. |

I picked the second army specifically to try to take out Crime Master, as stated somewhere in the text. They couldn’t handle it.
I’m not saying an aura is the only way to go, but cap and Starlord are already pretty stupid, this guy just adds to that issue. Cap was amazing with him. Crime Master was icing on the beefy attack cake. I think it should have clear sign minimum (if it doesn’t already, sorry on my phone right now). Once per player turn would be fine. Or make it so that it only works if all unique heroes in your army are savage, then you don’t have to worry about Cap/star lord, but can still bring Thugs if you want. Actually that would be my preference. To be fair, Toxin was crazy awesome and did way more damage than he should have. |

That'd put him back more on par with Oracle as well, whereas right now +1 attack all the time for his faction seems a lot, lot better than what Secret Attack Plan offers.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: The attack boost and OM-saving is a surprisingly potent combo, making some random heroes into really solid investments. Crime-Master’s other perks of being a Crime Lord & having a nifty special attack aren’t really a big deal in comparison to his Savage boosts. My games were honestly a mess from a luck perspective - the Hired Guns kicked butt in the first game and the second/third games were slaughters in opposite directions. Still, I made note of Crime-Master’s contributions, and they were quite helpful - I’d never risk an OM on a heavily wounded Agent Venom without Crime-Master guaranteeing a save, for example. And the attack boosts in game 3 were literally a game-changer for Mister Hyde. I’d bump his points for the next tests. |
