This could not happen as far as I can tell from your description. The two-space figure could not "fall" down to the trench becasue the glyph would make him stop and he can't stop with one half of his base on a space that isn't level with the other half.

A double-spaced figure can still be summoned or land from flying on two adjacent same-level spaces containing glyphs.

If somebody wanted to build a map with glyphs right next to each other, I suppose they would need to make some special scenario rules for this. As for the rest of us, we just make sure the glyphs are used sparingly and spread out nicely.
