Changes from 1.0:

Mystery Man class, Justice League faction, so he can be played as part of either team. A 300 point option would be handy for getting round point totals.

Removed the restriction preventing Red Tornado from using both Air Elemental Flying & his special attack in the same activation (since it seemed like a needless restriction to me). There was discussion on how necessary this was as people thought his power level was already strong in 1.0. But others said it's not much of a power change at all as the normal attack is superior.

His power level was adequate for 300 points and yet I don't think this change makes him noticeably stronger.

Always liked grabbing this unit. The figure movement seemed like a good tool to have in the kit. Never felt like he was under costed though, so it might be fine dropping the limitation. Only concern I guess would be the ability to move one figure 4 spaces per activation instead of 2. So now you have to stay farther way from the edges of buildings with units that don't have flying/SS.

Spoiler Alert!

Aliens get a good start with 3 wounds on Red Tornado. Red Tornado uses Air Elemental Flying to throw Aliens to low ground then unleashes a 3-skull Tornado Force SA on both of them. Tornado kills one Drone and Hawkgirl kills a second.

Drones are blocked. Tornado does the same AEF + TFSA trick but only puts 1 wound on a Drone this time. Drones bring Tornado to 5 wounds. Superman kills the third Drone and Tornado a fourth.

Tornado wounds Queen and moves up Hawkgirl slightly, then Hawkgirl kills the last Drone. JLA brings Queen to 8 wounds, but Queen kills Superman and wounds Hawkgirl.

Queen kills Hawkgirl and then Tornado tries to get the kill from range, but can’t manage it. (I almost went for an adjacent attack, which would be stronger, but risk a tie from acid blood wounds killing Tornado.) Queen kills him next turn.


Who won? List figures remaining in the winning army (include life remaining for heroes): Alien Queen (9 wounds) wins.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: Definitely useful to be able to use the SA and the Air Elemental Flying together, but Red Tornado is still a 6/6 defensive figure and falls easily enough for his point cost. I think using both abilities together was particularly useful this matchup to avoid acid blood, but even then it didn’t feel overwhelming.
