Yes, this is a bit facetious. However, it's sad that I have to say to newer (and older) players "Hey, you should use these BoV maps, but not these; these maps by this person, but not his other maps; these previous GenCon/ScapeCon maps, but not these." IMO, there needs to be a one-stop-shop for the best competitive maps.

I can put together a group of excellent map judges to carry the mantle forward (Dok, Superfrog, KevinDola, to name a few), but it can't happen without permission (and/or community support). We have other plans if we can't carry BoV forward into the new era, but the BoV name still carries the most weight in the community.

Hear hear! PLEASE make it happen!

We think it's for the best that we just reboot the WoS instead. We thank the BoV for all their work over the years, and hope people check out the rebooted WoS project.

Additionally, while we're on the topic, please don't forget about the ARV. While a little different in the way that we approach mapmaking/testing from the WoS and BoV...the core idea is the same, i.e. provide tournament worthy maps to the community.

Since COVID we've been a little lax in updating our recent maps tested/approved...but we've already been regrouping these last few weeks to start back up again.

A re-surchance of either both BoV and WoS (or just WoS) can only be a good thing! excited to see it happen.

not sure what that would look like, but from an ARV standpoint we do have a very different way of approaching community involvement for the maps that are submitted/tested...which for some may not be motivating for them (we pick the Top 10 maps from our contest we run, which are based on a theme, and test those 10 rather than taking and reviewing maps 1 by 1 as they are submitted for review).

That said, we are planning on adding 1-2 more judges before our next contest this fall, so if anyone from the other groups is interested in joining...we will be taking applications :P So I guess in that sense, we could be "joining as one"

I have some interest. I could probably still review maps pretty frequently. But if there are other people who want to review them, I don't mind letting them take over.
