Re: What Board Game Are You Currently Playing?
Ooh, I really liked Valley of the Kings. We only demo'ed at GenCon because [AEG game night story, see also
@akden
], but I was very pleasantly surprised. We didn't get it, and I suspect we wouldn't play it if we had because it's a little euro for KidScaper, but I thought very highly of it. It's a novel twist on traditional euro card game mechanics, and plays fast and light for 2-4. Might be best at 2-3, Jim would know better than I.

Re: What Board Game Are You Currently Playing?
Played Battlecon over lunch. My King Alexian beat down Stephen Universe's girl (can't remember her name, but she has vengeance tokens). Told you it was an extra copy @Dad_Scaper . I'm not as sold on this game as you are, but sometimes you have to take one for the group.
Bringing in a Heroscape map next week to test out some armies for the NHSD tournament. SU is having knee surgery next Thursday, but he still seems to think he can make it on the 18th. He would know, as this is his 3rd maybe 4th surgery. The Adrian Peterson of Heroscape. (Obviously for how quickly he comes back from Heroscape knee injuries, not for beating anyone because he hardy ever wins ) |

In the end it was my daughter's interest in Pokemon, not mine, that made me want to get it so that we could play it together. I buy enough games for myself that interest me and make my family play, that I really wanted to support her interest and get her something she is excited about. I'm not going to be buying booster boxes or even single packs regularly (and I seriously doubt she'll take any interest in the competitive play scene), maybe once in a while if we're out together as a treat, but only if we're still playing the game together, not just as a collecting hobby. Like I said, it's not that it's a game I believe in, it's just something special to share with my kids and who knows, maybe Card Wars will eventually make it to our collection too. If anyone has played it, I'm curious to hear about how it plays and the complexity level for kids. Can an 8-10 year old handle it? Also looking forward to the Adventure Time take on Love Letter that is to be coming soon. I think that would be a hit with my family. |

@Matthias Maccabeus, I, too, am looking forward to Rebel Aces, soon! I'll be playing X-Wing this weekend, so I hope our FLGS has gotten some in stock that I can pick up with tournament winnings today.
Yay, more Valley of the Kings fans! Hopefully we'll get to play our copy some more this weekend. Adventure Time Card Wars is a solid little game. "Magic lite" is a fairly accurate description. Ask @MegaSilver for more. Adventure Time Love Letter? The wife has been wanting a version of LL, and I think I know what we'll be getting... Also, for those who play Marvel Legendary, the next set is Guardians of the Galaxy! Can't wait to play Rocket Raccoon. Arena of the Valkyire - Help create Heroscape's next Master Set! Re: What Board Game Are You Currently Playing?
I got into X-Wing late, so we skipped buying the original A and B Wing, knowing the Rebel Aces were coming. Definitely like those ships. I think the A Wing Ace is my youngest son's new favorite (especially the one with the extra agility die in close range, very handy). And I've had a blast with the new B Wing Ace. A very solid ship. A challenge, but quite fun to fly.
Had our first game of Dead of Winter this week--only my oldest son actually won, but we all got close and it was a great intro to the game. I cannot wait to play it more! Also some more Dice Masters last night. Fun game. New? Read this. | The INDEX 2.0 | Mmirg's Maps Magnify Your Scape: BoV | SoV | C3V (Playtest!) | C3G The Dice Tower Con w/ Scape! |

Re: What Board Game Are You Currently Playing?
I have 2 starter sets, a TIE advanced, a TIE Phantom, an A-Wing, and a B-Wing. If I were to get 2 more ships, which 2 should I get? Should I get the shuttle, which can be used by both sides?

Played a solo game of City of Iron this morning to get more familiar to be able to teach it Monday (hopefully). I really like this game, it's got some different things going on and the art is cool.

@ParaGoomba Slayer
The shuttle is not that great. Personally, I like the Falcon and the VT-49 that is coming out looks pretty tough.
We just finished a game of Clue FX and a few games of Star Realms. I was one turn away from winning Clue, but the wife found Inspector Brown before I could. CatScaper, sadly wasn't very close. However, she did crush me in Star Realms |

Re: What Board Game Are You Currently Playing?
The DM forgot to prepare an adventure for Pathfinder this weekend, so we played some other games instead. First Dungeon Roll, which was meh, but it's just a filler anyway. Then Rune Age, which looked pretty cool, but I got creamed really early so I didn't get much of a feel for it.
Then the others left and it was just me and the DM. We had been going through a campaign in the PACG together. He as Valeros and me as Harsk. I went up against the boss, who dealt me some unblockable force damage before the fight. I rolled poorly in the first "wave" and lost both my weapons, so she killed me in the second wave. It was a big bummer, because I had been working on Harsk for a while and we were almost to the end of that Adventure Arc. Anyway, he managed to beat the boss by himself and I started over with Seelah. We went on to the next adventure. I miss Harsk's deadly precision, but Seelah has cool perks as well. Thankfully, we are doing the same adventure path separately with a third player and I am playing as Harsk there. -- I've also been playing a lot of Pente with my wife. She has beat me 8-2 so far. That game really highlights the parts of Strategy Games that I'm bad at; the long game, where you plan out all your contingencies based on what the other player might do. If I had the patience to really learn that kind of thing I suspect I'd be a much better Heroscape player.
