It goes like this:

- Your first Ullar Protector attacks Krug and places 1 wound on him.
- Your second Protector now rolls 1 extra die when he attacks, getting Krug for 2 more wounds.
- Your third Protector may now attack Krug, rolling 3 more dice than he normally would.

It's still 3 total attacks from the squad, but a lot of attack dice. Hope that was clear enough.

Assume height:

UP #1 rolls 4 attack dice (3 + height) and inflicts 1 wound.

UP #2 rolls 5 attack dice (3 + height + 1 wound inflicted this round) and inflicts 2 more wounds.

UP #3 rolls 7 attack dice (3 + height + 3 wounds inflicted this round) and inflicts 3 wounds.

Next turn, if everything remained the same, UP #1 would roll only 4 attack dice ( 3 + height).

Simple, right?

I know that I do not know.

These guys can inflict some serious pain on Raelin, and do it fast. Raelin users better be very wary of putting her too far out against these guys.

Of course, if she's protecting squad figures, they shouldn't be attacking her anyways...

Setting aside your current crusade... I think you're pretty clearly wrong, there. The protector's attack is so potent against a figure like Raelin, that even a small edge granted by killing Raelin first is enough to justify going after her before the squaddies.

I wrote a simulation. After 20000 trials, here are the average wounds delivered by three shots from protectors:

I agree with that for the most part. Still though, with as fragile as the protectors can be, I might still shoot at the squad figures. But, that kind if firepower against Raelin is hard to ignore.

Also, as Ullar units, these guys benefit from Acolarh's Amulet

Just for kicks, I tripled the effect of three attacks of 3 or 4, and subtracted it from those numbers, so you could see the extra wounds that the special power causes:

I did some proxying last night with these guys vs Dwarves. Protectors did amazingly well (with Atlaga) until the Dwarves engaged them. Then, it was pretty much downhill. The game ended with 6 Dwarves and 3 spiders left.

Migol Ironwill
Dwarves x5
Spiders (needed filler, and I like the spiders)
I realize, yes, that these are not the best 500 point army builds for the particular units I was trying to highlight, but they worked well. The Protectors do need a Rat or Sentinel Screen to help out. Even with 5 defense. Although in 3 rounds, the Dwarves did only block 1 attack.
8 Dwarves dead, all 9 attacks were from height, 2 or 3 skulls were rolled each time.

Haven't really looked through all this thread so if some one already said this sorry. I say put them with Atlaga and acolarh then you have seven move plus their range that combo could do some serious damage. What does everyone think?

They only have 7 move when they start adjacent to Acolarh. And Acolarh is useless then. Which is a complete waste of 110 points.
