Does Explosion automatically kill the target figure or just do the damage rolled?

explosion only does the damage rolled (after the oppenent has also rolled defense of couse ) . so no it does not "automatically) kill the oppent because that would be way too powerful. ihope that answers your question.

With deathwalker, you roll attack dice once for the target. For the target figure first, roll defense dice. Then for each figure adjacent to the target figure (Defended decides order), roll defense dice. The skulls you rolled on the single attack roll is used against each of the defense dice rolls.
